Chapter 66
Lsabella's pov :
The moonlight continues to shine on the East Continent and the Blood Moon Pack's people on it.
The Blood Moon Pack warriors fighting under the shadow of the moon should be able to feel the power that Moon Goddess is sending to us with the help of the moonstone.
If this goes well, we Blood Moon Pack have a chance to survive the night under the siege of twice or even more united armies.
Unfortunately, I failed to pass on this message to my people, hoping they would not let their guard down.
I think the Alpha's hidden warriors in the forest were originally used to deal with Jasper, and I'm not sure who leaked the information in advance of their so-called "accident". Now the Alpha's have moved his warriors here to confront my people across the city walls.
I was on top of the battlefield, but had no way to transform my form into the fight, and was a little anxious.
Gilbert gagged me and dragged me to the center of the battlefield.
Xavier looked at me from the walls with extremely sad eyes as he fell back into self-condemnation, which I certainly didn't want him to do.
"Mr. Xavier! We have something to talk to you about! If you want, we can exchange hostages and swap you with Miss Lsabella."
My eyes widened at once, because I knew Xavier would not hesitate to agree.
Sure enough, after hearing the conditions Gilbert proposed, the originally cluttered battlefield all quieted down.
Xavier immediately poked half of his body out from the wall: "Are your words credible? As long as I go down, you can let Lsabella go back to her own wolf pack?"
Gilbert gave a winning smile: "Yes, we are from the Alpha Council, our word is trustworthy."
I tried to issue a warning towards Xavier, but I was gagged and only had a series of unworded whimpers.
Xavier quickly came down, the corner door opened a small opening and he alone rushed out.
The enemy fighters around him tried to surround him, but were wary of his abilities and only loosely formed a circle.
Xavier did not have any scruples, he came towards my direction.
The tape on my mouth was ripped off by Xavier. Gilbert warned Xavier with his eyes, but Xavier was not afraid of him at all.
"Mr. Xavier, we cooperate with you, and you with us."
Xavier ignored what Gilbert had to say.
"We're both even, go back, it needs you." He whispered softly as he attached himself to my ear.
It was referring to the moonstone now, and I glared at Xavier without the undercurrent of blaming Xavier.
I seized the opportunity and quickly delivered the crucial information to Xavier.
"I've hit the inhibitor, and there's twice as many of them."
Xavier squeezed my shoulder, gesturing for reassurance.
We just brushed past each other, I took two steps and looked back at Xavier, who was standing still looking at me, and already an enemy soldier had come up behind him and handcuffed him.
I eventually stepped through the corner door.
Xavier had not been injected with the inhibitor, and I had a strong connection with the moonstone, so maybe this time Xavier had made the right decision, and I should practice what I promised and trust him firmly.
Xavier's pov :.
I don't understand why the Alpha Council wanted to reach out to me. If their goal was the Blood Moon Pack, capturing Lsabella was certainly their best option.
But in any case, I'm willing to trade myself for Lsabella, although I believe in her fighting ability, but I still can't accept that she is in danger, I can protect her, do things for her, I don't want to bother Lsabella's trouble.
I was afraid to admit my affection for Lsabella, perhaps because of my low self-esteem or pessimism about life, and I interpreted all my excessive concern as Beta's respect and love for his Alpha.
My inner self was able to touch that one answer, but it was just that even I was deceiving myself.
So everything that had happened in the last few months was instead a huge push for me to accelerate in a direction I had never envisioned.
I felt Lsabella's preference for me, and the fire of jealousy burning inside me, and it was only then that I gradually understood that I did not have that kind of forgiving heart to be able to share Lsabella with others.
I gradually understood my own heart that my overprotective desire for Lsabella came precisely from my mad love for her.
I was the only one who deserved her, I was the only MATE she had.
So my relationship with Lsabella is not only a relationship of Beta to Alpha submission, but also a relationship of MATE. In the latter relationship, we are equals, and my paranoid devotion to Lsabella is proof of my love.
Since Lsabella did not keep the agreement between us, I had even more reason to stand up for her.
I saw Lsabella return to the territory, about the moonstone, I actually have fabricated part, I just so that Lsabella can obediently return to say that, in the end will not happen what things, I actually do not know.
At first, Gilbert was the only one who watched over me, but soon, the other Alpha returned one after another.
"Aren't you curious? Where did they all go? It's amazing that they didn't arrive on the scene in time for something as important as an attack on Blood Moon Pack."
I didn't want to pay attention to Gilbert's provocative words, his expression had already revealed that he didn't have any good intentions.
But Gilbert went on with his own words.
"Because your brother jumped off a cliff, he had to claim that Lsabella would come out to meet him for that reason, and she did, seemingly without your knowledge? So how is it possible that someone who has performed the Luna ceremony could not be mindful of old feelings?"
I looked at Gilbert coldly, and he saw my face very hard and thought I had been successfully angered by him.
"When several other Alpha's told me earlier that you liked Miss Lsabella, I thought they were talking nonsense, but it really turned out to be true, right? But I still advise you once more with the same attitude as before, such a woman is not worth following, you become an Alpha yourself and then make her prostrate at your feet, so that you can call it a conquest."
Sometimes I really feel sorry for Lsabella, she has worked so hard for so long, although the surface does not say, but I know that she has actually been looking forward to be able to be equal to the crowd in the Alpha meeting, to be able to get the approval of others.
But as you can see now, Lsabella has shown her face at events big and small on the East Continent, and several of them have played a not insignificant role, but she still has not been respected, and in the end these cunning Alpha's still refuse to trust her.
I hated it so much inside that I was not satisfied with the disrespect these people had shown Lsabella.
My eyes drifted over Gilbert's neck, contemplating at what moment it would be better for the war effort to get them killed.
"So what? Can you guys stop beating around the bush? Just say everything you want to say."
The other Alpha's heard our conversation, Felix pulled up a chair and sat down next to me: "Our meaning is very simple, we hope you can return to Blue Moon Pack and become the new Alpha of Blue Moon Pack. The Moon Goddess is fair enough, you see she returned this throne to you."
What a mouth full of hypocritical remarks, my brother was just forced to die by them, even if there is some grudge between Jasper and me, but I have long put down everything for Lsabella, how can I be on their side?
But I no longer want to bother with these people, they are not able to understand the direct and close bond I have with Lsabella.
"Why are you guys so sure of yourselves? What if Blue Moon Pack is going to elect a new Alpha within the wolf pack according to special rules? After all, I've been in Blood Moon Pack since I was a child, and how would they trust an Alpha from Blood Moon Pack when they already have an escaped Blood Moon Pack Luna?"
"You don't have to worry about this, we have an inside man."
With that Felix stood up and took a few steps in the direction of the door, "Let me introduce you to an old acquaintance, Elder Charles."
I wore a stunned look at the door, and the moment the door opened, the person who entered was indeed the one I had pictured in my mind.
Elder Charles had betrayed his Alpha, yet he still wanted to throw an olive branch at me.
"It's been a long time, Xavier, you look much stronger again, and seem to have reached the prophesied state."
