Chapter 42
Lsabella's pov :
I waited alone at the exit for a long time, then first I met two Blue Moon Pack fighters who, according to them, were here to confirm my safety.
"I'm fine, where is Jasper now? Has he seen the witch yet?"
"Met, Miss Lsabella, Mr. Jasper will be out soon."
I didn't ask Jasper if he had gotten the moonstone, but he shouldn't have left here so soon if he hadn't gotten it.
As the sun was setting over the land, Jasper came out of the dark pathway, and I noticed that he had changed his clothes.
When he walked in, his low state was felt by me.
When we first met, even though he was very mean to me and often looked at me coldly, he was definitely spirited back then when he hosted the Alpha meeting.
But now he is not as he was when we first met. He looks like he has suffered some big change or learned some tragic news, his eyes have lost their former luster, his eyes have focused several times before they fall on me, he looks like a moving corpse.
He looked more like Xavier when I first picked him up, and they looked a little alike.
My heart was violently seized and I grabbed Jasper's arm: "What's happening? You look awful."
Jasper's eyes finally got something in them and he looked at me, my figure clearly reflected in his gray pupils. He gave a smile with an undercurrent of sadness, "I got it."
With that he shoved a small box into my arms, which I held tightly in my hands, but did not rush to open.
"I know a little about your past...did Nora say anything to you?"
"Nothing," he didn't look like he wanted to talk to me about such things: "We can get ready to go back."
"But..."
I tried to speak, but Jasper had already walked away, leaving me with only a dimly lit back.
But how could this matter end here? Have those Alpha's already agreed to leave the moonstone on our side?
What exactly did Nora do to the two brothers?
I didn't open the box until I got to the car, a black velvet handkerchief wrapped around a pigeon-egg sized gem that seemed to have a faint glow coming through the fabric.
This was the moonstone that had been tossed around so many times and had finally returned to my hand.
I suppressed my trembling, for I knew there were eyes focused on me, and everyone wanted to see the legendary moonstone.
The handkerchief was uncovered by me, and the soft moonlight was the first to enter our sight, and the entire narrow carriage was filled with that gentle but cool glow.
The four people in the car, including me, held their breath.
I took this gem out of the box, as if I was holding up a mini moon, and everyone's eyes were firmly drawn to it, even Jasper, who had fallen into silence, had temporarily forgotten his previous troubles.
This is the charm of the moonstone, no werewolf can refuse it.
But at this moment I was very calm, obviously holding something that I had missed for ten years, but I was now long ago not a silly child who would be overwhelmed by joy.
I couldn't confirm if this gem was the same one Xavier had handed me earlier, but both times it was in my hand, it gave me the same feeling. They were definitely the closest thing to moonstones I've ever seen, but without the ritual, no one could be 100% sure it was the moonstone.
But the problem was that I couldn't fly back immediately, I still needed to go to the Blue Moon Pack for my Luna ceremony as planned, and then take advantage of the chaos to swap the moonstone and send Xavier back to perform the ceremony immediately, until the moon goddess really favored our Blood Moon Pack, then my heart could truly rest.
"Like it?" Jasper broke the silent atmosphere in the car.
"Yes." I admitted graciously.
Jasper looked at me with a very interested look, "So how do you feel now?"
I really thought about it: "I've experienced the decline of the pack, the kind of mind that is in weakness, but desperately disgusted and wants to escape from weakness, tormented me for ten years. The moonstone, a symbol of supreme power, is the cure for this state of mind."
The glint in my eyes was seen by Jasper, who narrowed his eyes slightly, as if he was envisioning the past I was describing.
Suddenly, he reached out and took my hand in his, and we interlocked our fingers.
"We'll return to the Blue Moon Pack right away, and then immediately start preparing for the Luna ceremony, it's almost the full moon, all in time."
In time for you to do what?
I did not throw out my question, but nodded meekly.
"By that time you'll be the strongest group of Luna on the East Continent, and you'll never experience those bad experiences before."
Really, Jasper was incredibly sincere at this moment, as if it was all true.
He was envisioning our future.
Without saying a word, I wrapped the moonstone back up and put it back in the box.
I handed the box to Jasper: "You take it."
"No," he pushed it my way: "You take it. Don't you still want to put the moonstone on top of the crown? I'll send for some reliable jewelry designers, and you talk to them about your idea."
"It's not safe for me to hold it, I'm afraid I'll lose it."
"It's okay, Blue Moon Pack won't let you lose anything."
The words have come to this point, no matter how much fake between each of the two people, but at the moment from the appearance of it really looks like a pair to discuss the newlywed mate, I myself to envy myself.
"By the way, is Charlotte still alive? I only remember her fainting at the time in the gap?"
I suddenly recalled looking at Charlotte, a special being who, despite her seemingly average level of brains and combat prowess, could appear on any battlefield with Jasper, seeing how she had become crazy attached to him.
Jasper tilted his head in confusion, probably wondering why I mentioned her at this point: "I also didn't expect Charlotte to have only that little guts, she has been sent back to her own pack by me, and I also hope she can reflect on it after she returns."
"So." I nodded my head. I couldn't be sure if what happened in the crevice had anything to do with Charlotte, but the connection between Jasper and I was coming to an end, and I hoped Charlotte wouldn't cause me any more trouble.
The way back was uneventful, and we arrived at Blue Moon Pack after I woke up.
I had already informed Xavier halfway through the day that he should return to the Blood Moon Pack and work with Kyra to confirm the preparations for the ceremony.
The Blue Moon Pack was not idle either. This was the ceremony for the Alpha of the pack to confirm Luna, which was a big event for the pack, and the whole pack was buzzing with excitement.
I didn't care about the other furnishings and decorations, so I ordered them all down and let the person in charge assigned by Jasper do it according to the Blue Moon Pack's tradition, without having to ask me about them.
My main concern was the jeweled crown on top of my head.
Jasper really got several designers to come over and they all showed some of their finished products.
All of them were very beautiful, and I had thought that this was their previous work, and even if it wasn't for public sale, they should have already shown it to others.
"No, Miss. This is the creation we made immediately after Mr. Jasper gave the order, and you are the first person to see them. And they are not the final product, you can choose the one you like the most among them, and then we will modify it according to your comments."
This was the first time these decorations struck my heart, and after I tried them on one by one, I chose one of the simplest crowns. "That's it, but I'd like it to be smaller so that it can set off the moonstone, there's no technical difficulty with that, is there?"
"No, Miss. We will immediately revise the drawing so that you can refer to the changed size."
"Thank you for your hard work."
I had been busy for the past few days, but suddenly I received a message from Blood Moon Pack.
By the time I arrived at the door, they had already brought down several boxes from the car.
"What's this?" I walked up and asked my warriors.
"Miss, these are four swans with feathers that can be used to decorate your gown."
It had been a really long time since I had been back to Blood Moon Pack, and it turned out that my people had thought of me this way and had sent me a gift to celebrate my becoming a pack Luna.
"I'm so touched that you all didn't give me any advance notice."
"It was a surprise, we rushed back immediately after we received the news, I hope it was in time."
"In time, the dress shouldn't be finished yet."
Jasper went out on patrol, and I explained the matter to Declan, who stayed behind.
After all, I was their prospective Luna, Declan did not hesitate, he directly asked my warriors to carry the four swans to the next door of my room, where my dresses were stored.
Inside the room, my gown was quietly arrayed in the center of the room, with only one maid embroidering inside.
"Get the designer and her assistant over here, I want the swan feathers added to the dress."
"Yes, Miss."
Asher placed the four boxes on the floor with a couple of young men who looked familiar and went out. I stood in place looking at the dress I was about to put on.
I heard the sound of the door unlocking.
I was a little surprised that the maid hadn't returned yet.
I turned around, only to see a young warrior from our pack remove his muzzle.
I was surprised to see Xavier, who squeezed out a sad smile toward me, "Congratulations, Lsabella, the dress is beautiful."
He looked so aggravated that my heartstrings twitched several times along with him, and I could no longer bear to blame him for his audacity.
"Come here." I beckoned toward him.
Hearing my command, Xavier rushed over. He didn't dare to do anything after he approached, and after a moment of hesitation, he took my hand.
"Can I hold your hand?"
I felt the gradual increase in strength in my hand and couldn't help but laugh.
"Aren't you already holding it?"
He was broken up by me and still held my hand tightly, really like a big dog that was abandoned.
"Are you still angry with me?"
"I'm not angry with you."
"Then...can I give you a kiss?"
I looked up and met Xavier's beautiful eyes.
I suddenly looked through those eyes and thought back to the afternoon we left the Riverdale.
Xavier and I were standing at the exit of the valley, and he was looking at me with those same beautiful eyes of his, with a look of hope in them, and he was desperate to know exactly what his place in my heart was.
Then it was interrupted, and I went to the Blue Moon Pack, and he returned to the Blood Moon Pack, and I thought we would see each other again after it was all over, only to have Xavier come here without permission.
If I could have given him an answer at that point, he wouldn't have sneaked in here to see me. I wonder what mood he's been in these past few days, is so spent.
I know what kind of emotional outburst and anger and sadness I went into when I swung my arm up and slapped Xavier in the face.
Xavier was so important in my heart, I was worried that he would be hurt because of me, but what happened? In the end, he didn't know how to love his own life, and he wanted me to see him die, so it would have been better to stab me in the heart!
So where does he stand in my heart? Like Xavier said, Beta, brother such identity can be replaced, so when these identities are stripped away, the remaining one Xavier is my what?
What kind of identity can get my full attention and can often trigger such big mood swings in me?
The answer is actually close at hand.
But I didn't think now was a romantic enough time to tell him until after everything was over.
I stood on my tiptoes and dropped a kiss on the corner of Xavier's mouth.
"That's okay."
