Chapter 18

Lsabella's pov.
The team consisted of the elite of the Alpha Alliance, and we drove in the direction of Purple Moon Pack for the rest of the day.
With two kilometers to go to Purple Moon Pack territory, we took cover in the woods and took a little break.
Xavier handed me a piece of jerky, I took it, broke it in half, and handed him another half.
He froze for a moment and immediately took it again. We tried to keep it quiet, so I smiled at him.
The understanding Xavier and I have developed over the past ten years of fighting together is gradually developed, although everything ahead is still unknown, I am confident of winning this battle.
The Purple Moon Pack has a special terrain, a large river surrounding the land, and only one bridge to cross.
The safety of this journey does not point to the danger of the bridge, at this moment everyone looks to Jasper, we need a person to make a decision.
There was a small sound of movement behind me and I turned around to find Jasper suddenly squeezing by.
He stood between me and Xavier, and he was so close to me that all of a sudden he completely blocked Xavier from my view.
"What for?" I couldn't help but question him in a low voice.
Jasper ignored the discontent I was showing, "To hear what Miss Alpha of Blood Moon Pack has to say about the current situation."
I never seemed to have a proper grasp of Jasper's mind, it was like he was provoking me, or seriously questioning me, or was it both?
I stared at him for a moment, and he looked at me calmly, and I gradually fell into his sullen gaze.
I snapped back to my senses and scrambled to avert my eyes, trying to avoid his burning gaze.
I tentatively voiced my suspicions.
"There must be an ambush on the bridge, depending on what they're up to."
"You expand on that."
"If they were trying to stop us from crossing the bridge, they would have made preparations ahead of time to make sure the bridge could be destroyed in time. That's something the Seekers were able to give us feedback on.
If they are trying to destroy us right before the bridge, they will need to have enough combat power. We are the elite of the East Continent, and even if the rogue army is strong, they would have to send a large force to defeat us right here."
Jasper didn't move his eyes during my analysis, and half a dozen times he finally spoke up.
He pressed himself against my ear and whispered, "I was the one who underestimated you before."
There was a constant stream of hot air blowing on the cheeks, I was shocked and immediately took a step backward to distance myself from him: "It's not too late for you to see me clearly."
He froze, then returned to normal, only the corners of his mouth more than a seemingly smile: "Yes, it's not too late."
Jayden waved back, and Declan leaned over.
"Send the explorers out and explore again!"
The explorer quickly rushed back.
"Sir! There are rogues on the other side of the bridge and on this site, but not in large numbers. The situation on the bridge cannot be ascertained, and there seems to be nothing suspicious."
If there were not many people on the bridge, then the hooligans' purpose was mainly to break the bridge and block the road.
"Once the rogues in the river know the news, they will definitely break the bridge. So we have to harvest the rogues outside the river first, and then raid the river."
Jasper's eyes swept over the crowd, "Let's split into two teams, one to hang the rogues outside the river, and the other pair to raid across the bridge."
The crowd gathered around again to discuss, Declan, Xavier, and Beta from Illusion Moon Pack, Mr. Justin would lead some of the fighters to take care of the outer harvest.
Jasper, Wyatt, Fai Moon Pack's new Alpha, and Wyatt would lead the fighter raid to seize control of the bridge.
Then the rest of them are crossing the bridge and enter Purple Moon Pack's territory.
Harvest first, then capture the bridge and act tonight.
Xavier, who had been at my side, put his virtual arm around me: "Rely on me, Lsabella, your Beta is ready to fight for you."
Xavier's eyes were sincere as if I was really not respecting him if I didn't lean on him.
I relaxed my body and leaned on him with my entire body.
"Be victorious while you make sure you are safe, not desperate to die; we need living heroes, not martyrs."
"Yes, Miss."
Although I didn't want to question Xavier and the other warriors here, I knew that Jasper was betting very heavily that in case the bridge capture failed, the best outcome would be that all the squads involved in the capture would cross the river and the rest of us would have to go north around the snowy mountains, a very long way, I'm afraid it would take two or three days to get there.
I'm not going to wait three days to go into battle.
I looked at the squad with all the hopes, they assembled at the front of the line. Xavier is tall and elegant, a glance can be noticed by me, I saw that he has checked his equipment.
How could he not be aware of my concerns?
I stood up and walked over to Xavier, I handed him my own short knife: "Use this knife of mine, may the moon goddess bless you."
Xavier looked surprised, he took my dagger and solemnly stuck it in his waist.
"I don't care about anything else, just bless me with your blessing."
I raised my hand and brushed a few strands of hair from Xavier's forehead, and the alienation in my heart finally revealed its form; this was the first time I had sent Xavier on a real battlefield.
I had lost almost all of my own family on the battlefield ten years ago, and even though I had become an Alpha of a wolf pack, the weak me inside me still couldn't forget the trauma that war had brought to my childhood.
I was also in such fear of Xavier being in the middle of a dangerous situation, even though he was the strongest of these elites.
But I just couldn't control my fear, he was the only thing I had left in this world.
I forced down my inner turmoil and fear and acted calmly. I didn't know how I would spend the rest of my life if the Moon Goddess made me lose him.
But how can I tell him all this?
A thousand words inside turned into one lingering look at each other as I brushed the side of Xavier's face and wished him peace.
I stood in the night and watched my soldiers.
The first squad departed and Xavier and the other warriors disappeared into the night.
The second squad, led by Jasper, was about to leave. He stopped and waved to me, his expressionless face seemed to contain a warning.
I didn't understand what he meant, but I couldn't afford to disrespect him in front of so many people.
"What are you doing..."
Jasper wrapped his arm around me and patted me twice with his hand on my back: "Be good and stay here until I come back."
Then he let go of me, also turned around, and disappeared into the night without looking back.
I froze in place, half a day before I came back to my senses. My face burned red, what was he doing, how to make it look like a wife sending off her husband who was rushing to the front.
I withdrew from the rear of the large group, and when the distance was pulled away, I transformed my form, also hidden into the darkness of the night.
As previously agreed, the first squad would notify us with a psychic connection after the hanging was complete, Declan would notify Jasper, and I bet Xavier would be the first to report the good news to me.
I kept a safe distance from Jasper's squad, and that distance was the first time I could catch up after receiving the news.
All that was left was to wait, I crept in the darkness of the night, the moonlight did not come, and now all that accompanied me was my heartbeat.
Because uneasiness spread in my heart constantly spread, although an Alpha should not follow her instincts, my heart has a strong sense of foreboding. I must also cross this bridge with the second squad, or I will definitely take the path of the mountain snow mountain, I can not wait until three days before stepping on the land of Purple Moon Pack.
"Lsabella?" a clear voice came into my head in the darkness, "Good news, the stranding is complete."
I leaped up and swooped down to Jasper's squad in a few steps.
A second of alert later they realized who I was, but it was too late.
"Damn it, Lsabella!"
Jasper's irritated voice was flung behind me.
Like a bolt of lightning, I landed on this side of the bridge in a flash. My keen sense of smell in wolf form allowed me to catch the scent of grease the moment I landed, and I understood their plan.
If the rogues failed to defend the bridge, they would simply light the grease-soaked bridge on fire and the path into Purple Moon Pack territory would be interrupted.
"Xavier! It's grease! The brigade moves immediately!"
"Okay...wait, Lsabella! Where are you now?"
I didn't wait as I caught sight of the flickering fire. There was a real connection between the two groups of rogues, and they had noticed the anomaly. I had already leaped onto the bridge and scurried to the other side in a few steps.
The firelight illuminated a terrified face, but unfortunately, he didn't have a chance to throw down the torch.
I opened my mouth and bit off his head, the torch fell into the water and went out at once.
I guarded the bridge and showed my bloody fangs to the other hooligans who arrived to see who would come up first to die.
