Chapter 30

Lsabella's pov :
All this made me feel fearful, and I collected the dagger before the others arrived.
"Miss Lsabella? Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Declan helped me up from the ground.
"I'm fine."
"Did you run into that assassin?"
"Yes," I pretended, patting the dust off my clothes, "so what happened exactly? Did someone get hurt?"
"It's Miss Olivia, she was kidnapped by that assassin and is now alive or dead."
"What?" My heart went half cold again, now I was even more sure that that person was Xavier, but why would he do that? But why would he do that? Something so risky and impulsive...
Did he do it because of me, did Xavier already know that Olivia had set me up?
I had to follow them to get more information, in case Xavier had left any evidence at the scene, and I had to help him destroy it.
I followed Declan back to the crime scene. Olivia had already been taken to the next room, and the doctor was treating her wounds.
"How is she?" I asked in a whisper from the doorway.
"Not too promising, Miss Olivia has suffered a violent shock, I don't know when she will wake up."
Jasper locked his brow and stood in front of Olivia's bed, I could feel his rage hidden beneath the silence, like so many times before, but then I was the suspect.
Jasper noticed me, and he gestured for me to step outside and speak.
"I heard Declan say you had an encounter with that assassin, too?"
"Yes."
"Did you get a good look at him?"
"No. It was too dark, and I believe he covered his face? I think instead of asking me, you should wait for Miss Olivia to wake up."
Jasper sighed, "She already had a bad heart..."
"What?" This is the first time I've heard of it, so Miss Olivia's weakness is due to her heart?
"Nothing, do you want to take a look at the scene?"
"All right, though I can't be of much help."
Jasper ordered the door of the next room to be opened, and I walked in with a nervous heart.
It was a luxurious suite, which would have been the best room in the Purple Moon Pack in the absence of a villa.
A chair was placed in the middle of the room, with cut ropes and a few drops of blood scattered on the floor.
"Where's Miss Olivia's maid?"
"Both maids were stunned when we found them, tied up under the bed next door."
I went around to the open window and looked down into it. The otherwise dim backyard was now illuminated with several lights, and many warriors were searching for clues below.
"Do you have any ideas?" Jasper suddenly asked.
By now there is no significant discovery, I guess it will not be found.
I had a lot of questions in my mind, but the taut strings were finally loosened a bit.
I smiled gently at Jasper, "What can I think? I'm not a suspect now, am I?"
Jasper really lowered his eyes : "I was impulsive before, but Olivia is my savior, and she is that fragile, I desperately also want to protect her, but she ends up being hurt all the time because of me."
Jasper's eyes are gentle and seem very sincere, so it seems that he is also a good person who is affectionate, but the object of Jasper's gentle treatment is not me.
"Because of you? What makes you think so?"
Jasper pulled out of his moment of regret, and he returned to his old cold and confident self: "I don't trust any of the other Alpha's here, except you."
How did this even involve other Alpha's?
"Why?"
"Because the position of being able to preside over an Alpha meeting is what every Alpha wants. We are very harmonious with each other on the surface, but in fact, behind the scenes, we all want to pull me down. But except for you, who has time to worry about this when you're worried about the life and death of your own little pack every day."
I choked in my heart, Jasper turned out to know how difficult it was for our small group to survive ah, he made things difficult for me everywhere before is simply teasing? This person so so annoying?
"Besides, you're my mate, you don't have to fight me, after the Luna ceremony, mine is yours."
I sneered, "I'm kind of an ex-con before, you don't trust me that much."
"I'm not kidding with you."
"Is it hard for you to think I'm joking with you?"
Jasper was speechless to respond to my dislike.
"We'll talk about what happened before when we get back, what I want to talk to you now is something very important. I think this assassin is the same person as the assassin at the original Alpha meeting."
"What?"
My trembling hand was quietly pressed to my side as I instantly thought of Xavier.
Sure enough, Jasper had detected it after all? The action to deal with Liam before was really still too hasty.
But is it really the same person this time? The assassin who hesitated when he saw my face was really Xavier?
And Xavier had enough motive to do this, and that motive was me...
Since when did this scrawny boy who didn't want to talk to me become what he is now? From whom did he learn the ferocity and cruelty when he wielded the knife?
"Did you think of something?"
I forced myself to stabilize my emotions, I needed to protect Xavier first before thinking about how to handle this.
"So you've just laid out so much, you're suspecting that among the Alpha, someone did these two things?"
"It doesn't have to be Alpha who did it, it could be one of his men."
I pretended to look at him seriously, "Are you suspecting every Alpha? But we'll be working together again afterwards."
"Then aren't they the ones who put their hands on us while we were working together? If he attacked Olivia because of me, then what did he kill Liam for?"
Liam had only clashed with me the night before and was brutally killed the next day, Xavier and I were just too suspicious.
"So what? The two cases were combined to launch who the killer was?"
"Yes, and I'll tell you only one." Jasper came over and he attached himself to my ear.
My heart was beating so fast that I suspected he could hear it.
"It's...Aaron."
In a moment my tightly clenched heart regained its freedom and I took two deep breaths, insisting on putting the play together.
"He wasn't present at the last Alpha meeting, so what makes you think he did it? Did he have a vendetta against you?"
Jasper narrowed his eyes at me, he looked at me like a naive child: "He is now the new Alpha, isn't it reasonable to kill the previous Alpha in order to get to the top in the first place?"
If it weren't for protecting Xavier, I would have wanted to sneer hard at Jasper's overconfidence, "What about this time?"
"Aaron both wants the moonstone and wants it all to himself."
"Then wouldn't it be bad if he didn't wait until he got the moonstone and now aroused your suspicion?"
Jasper narrowed his eyes, and his reflection could be seen in his gray eyes. I couldn't help the trembling that welled up in my heart once again, could he be telling me that everything before was to scam me? Did he actually already know who did it?
My nails dug into my palms as I used the pain to stabilize my emotions. Did he really have proof already? If he did say it, should I bite the bullet and deny it?
"Don't let Aaron paralyze your guard just because he has praised your looks, he looks like the kind of villain who does one thing on the surface and another behind the scenes."
"My word!"
The roller coaster experience made me sigh, are these two things related? And when did Aaron ever praise me?
"What? You don't believe it?"
"I don't disbelieve it." What a thrill tonight, my heart feels like it's jumping off a cliff. "So what are you going to do?"
"Just wait, there's no need to rush."
"Okay," I chose to perfume him, "I'll do it in confidence."
"Of course," Jasper reached out and intimately pressed the hair on the side of my face behind my ear, "Why would you work so hard against me when you can get the victory by following me?"
Probably because I'm an Alpha with my own pack, how could I be a subordinate to others?
But I won't say what's in my heart, I smile meekly towards Jasper.
