Chapter 21
Xavier's Pov:
From the moment I formed the squad with Lsabella, I was in a state of relief, and even though I knew the enormity of the task and I was focusing my attention on helping Lsabella out, I felt relieved from the inside out.
Lsabella was now in front of me, and even if she was very concerned about the young man in our squad, I was able to solve the problem. Instead of always worrying that Lsabella would be forced to do something against her will.
How I wish Lsabella and I could have been in this kind of life from now on.
I can still appreciate the warmth of Lsabella's arms around me and the warmth of her in my arms, what a warm and enriching experience, we were so close together that it was as if I was holding my whole world.
I know this intimate contact that suddenly hit me like good luck was also nourishing the greedy desire inside me. Being close to Lsabella did not satisfy my former greed, instead, I was like a person who did not know satisfaction and thought of getting more after getting one embrace.
In the squad, I could stare at Lsabella for a long time, I stared at her beautiful eyes, her seductive red lips, her white neck.
I wanted to kiss her, I must have been out of my mind.
I poured a bottle of water over my head, and the cold water calmed me down a bit.
"What's wrong?" Lsabella looked at me in confusion.
"Nothing, it's a little hot."
Lsabella furrowed her brow, and I understood her concern.
We were simply outnumbered, and if Gary was indeed in the cemetery, there would be no shortage of rogues protecting his side.
Four people by surprise and hard fighting is no absolute certainty to be able to control Gary, we can hardly even get close, I look to Lsabella, what is she thinking in her mind right now?
She told us that we must protect ourselves, then she will also comply, right.
I still wasn't sure about Lsabella, we knew how hard she had worked to get herself recognized.
I volunteered to be the explorer for our squad and followed the edge of the gentle slope of this cemetery as I walked most of the way around it.
The rogues didn't panic, instead staying idle, but their numbers really exceeded my expectations.
It wasn't something that four people could tackle. I hadn't seen Gary yet.
I returned and told the others the news.
Lsabella was silent for a few seconds.
"Rest where you are and wait for Gary to show up."
She turned to Justin again, "Have you heard from Jasper's side?"
"They've just arrived too, and there are also reportedly a large number of rogues there at the castle that seem to be delivering supplies."
"Delivering supplies? Does that mean they're planning to leave?"
We looked again at the cemetery, which was silent, with little movement of transport or excavation.
It was completely dark, the cemetery had a campfire, and finally, before we could lose our patience, Gary showed up. He came out of a basement-like exit, then walked over to the campfire and sat down.
"Are you sure he's Gary?"
Justin was the only one of us who had seen Gary and Lsabella and he crept forward some more: "It's really important."
"That's him, miss. I'll never forget those eyes of his, Mr. Gary is a good man and would have been a wonderful Alpha on the East Continent if fate hadn't caught up with him."
Lsabella looked back at me.
"It's useless to attack strongly, I'm going to talk to Gary."
Ignoring the danger of being discovered, I lunged forward to Lsabella's side in a flash, my hand pressed against her waist, stopping her from making further moves.
"Are you crazy, Lsabella? Why do you believe Gary will sit down and listen to you."
Lsabella resented my objection, "What else would we have done? My Beta?"
If I were the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack... I pushed down the feeling in my heart: "Then you should let me go, you're my Alpha, you shouldn't risk yourself. "
The moonlight added a softness to Lsabella's stunning beauty, she was always so beautiful no matter what time of day, especially when she was gazing at me with only my reflection in her eyes.
Lsabella leaned her hand against my face, her thumb rubbing my cheek back and forth, her eyes gentle at the moment.
"I'm not giving away my life, I have a sure way to convince Gary. There's no guarantee it will work, but I need this chance, you understand me, don't you?"
"But..."
"I still need you to be near me to protect me, and if I fail, you'll have to rush in and save me."
I must have been poisoned by the one named Lsabella, because I actually nodded slowly and agreed to her.
Lsabella's pov :.
I saw Gary at the edge of the graveyard and saw him come up from the ground and come to sit by the campfire. He seemed to take the cup handed to him by his men; was it his first meal since we had been watching the place until now?
I then decided to take a gamble for Gary, I bet on his remorse and mad love for Yana.
I left my squad and headed down the slope. Then showed me at the main entrance of the cemetery.
The hooligans were alert the moment they saw me, and they soon surrounded me. I threw away the short knife I was holding in front of them and raised my hands.
A young man named Nick came out: "Who are you? What are you doing here?"
"My name is Lsabella-Hill, I'm from Blood Moon Pack, I'm here to see Gary about the fake mate, I was hoping he could help me."
"Lsabella-Hill? You're Blood Moon Pack's Alpha?"
The circle of hooligans around me who had been relaxed suddenly got nervous again, really underestimated this young man, he would actually know me.
"Yes, please take me through, I really need an answer."
Nick literally went inside, and soon he returned again.
"You, come in."
I was held down by the arms of two hooligans and brought to Gary, whose face was much more mellow than the portrait, whose eyes fell on the campfire, and did not even look up at me after he heard Nick inform.
"How did you get here?" It was a voice as vicissitudes as his appearance, after he had been abandoned by Yana, and then abandoned the world with his own hands.
"I came here before the bridge was broken," I answered truthfully.
"Did you kill our men?"
"I did do it because they were going to kill me."
Gary finally lifted his dry well-like eyes to look at me, "What do you want to know by coming to me so hard?"
"It's about the pseudo-mate thing, which I suspect happened to me."
He nodded and gestured for me to go on.
"You may know Blue Moon Pack former Alpha, he had two sons, but the witch took his eldest."
"Yes, and then what happened?"
"His eldest son didn't die, he's now called Xavier and has been staying with us at Blood Moon Pack. Just a little while ago, I established a MATE relationship with his brother Jasper, but I would always feel something different, and they were both almost present at the time, so I suspect I'm experiencing a false MATE situation as well."
"So what, even if you really are a victim of fake MATE, what does it have to do with me, can my Yana be revived?"
This was indeed a tricky question, the key to my convincing Gary.
"My long-sacrificed ancestors told me that people don't just live, you need to give it meaning, and I think Mrs. Yana's passing was like that, you need to give her meaning too. This kind of stuff can't be fixed by killing Andy, can it?"
Gary's withered eyes needed something to light up after all, and I guess after his revenge he still needed to face the lonely heart he couldn't fill?
Gary listened to my words and suddenly threw back his head and laughed wildly, but his laughter didn't even manage to reach the bottom of his eyes, I only felt his sorrow and suffering.
"It's not hard, I wonder if you dare to bet?"
"Bet on what?" I realized the opportunity had come.
Gary waved his hand and Nick, who was standing by, brought an injection.
"This is the medicine to inhibit the transformation form, do you dare to take a shot?"
"I'll dare if you tell me your plan."
Gary narrowed his eyes and looked at me playfully, "That Xavier must be following you around, call him over, as long as he dares to fight me one on one, it proves he has the courage."
"Wait a minute! Why is he the one who has the courage?" As soon as I heard that Gary had to involve Xavier, I immediately got excited: "I dare to take this risk, won't I?"
"You are really too young, where is the courage of one person enough for a love that needs to be pushed through?"
Not waiting for me to argue a few more words, the needle stabbed in, and I felt the coldness all over my body in an instant.
Why even involve Xavier, when I thought it was my fight with Gary?
I was both a little anxious and a little uneasy, and the numbness that had spread throughout my body from the needle hole in my arm became even more intense.
I'm not going to get him killed like this, am I?
The more I thought about these unfounded but very scary things, my heart began to seize followed by twitching.
But I didn't have time to pay attention to the side effects of the inhibitor, I braced myself and looked up at Gary viciously.
"If you dare to harm his life, kill me before it's too late, or I won't let you go!"
"Interesting," Gary said as he helped me to sit still: "Let the young man in."
