Chapter 10 I No Longer Like Him
Peter's attitude was kind and polite. He didn't sound bossy at all, and was just like a father requesting that his daughter be taken care of.
Audrey could not believe that her father would go as far as creating a chance for her and Jerry to be together.
She was speechless.
Meanwhile, Jerry was not all that surprised. Something at the back of his mind already told him that Peter Turnah would end up in his condition with him and Audrey. He was expecting it.
''Well, you have already promised to take care of my mother, so how can I dare to turn down your request?'' Jerry replied with a quiet tone.
''Don't bother,'' Audrey said as she stepped forward.
''Dad, I am not a child anymore. How can you allocate somebody to take care of me? Besides, I already have Leopold around, so why would you bother asking someone else to take care of me?'' She asked.
Peter smiled. He felt that Audrey was just being shy.
''What's wrong with asking one more person to take care of you? Jerry is young and promising. If he is willing to look out for you, and render you some advice while you are all out there, I would rest assured,'' he said to Audrey.
''Dad, you have underestimated me too much,'' Audrey complained.
''Am I that much of a write off because you complimented someone's youthful achievements?'' She asked, pursing her lips.
Peter Turnah laughed and rubbed Audrey's head fondly, with his eyes full of doting.
''Everyone knows that my daughter is the best,'' he said.
He had taken care of the issue, and although Audrey tried to wriggle out of the plan her father made with Jerry in front of her, she did not succeed.
They all left the hospital, and Peter Turnah was in a good mood. On his way out, he called his secretary to arrange a medical consultation for Mrs. Dank.
''Dad, why is the Dank family unwilling to do business with us?'' Audrey asked, seeing that her father and Henry Dank related on good ground just now.
''Henry Dank is a thoughtful and ambitious man. He is determined to build his telecommunications network and mobile brand without any foreign interference,'' Peter Turnah replied.
''He didn't plan to accept any investments, and he didn't plan to talk business with anyone at all. The call that Marcus Coker made to the rival company was just Marcus' idea of making your brother angry. It had nothing to do with Henry Dank,'' Peter Turnah added with great admiration for Henry Dank.
''So why was Marcus angry at Charles?'' Audrey asked. Her eyes flashed with curiosity.
Peter glanced at Charles and smiled.
Marcus Coker and Henry Dank have been friends for many years. It was because of the pressure we put on Bullen High school to expel Jerry, that made Marcus do what he did. He was upset,'' he said.
Audrey soon realized that she loved Marcus Coker for standing up for Jerry Dank the way he did.
''They will still be a threat to us in the future,'' Charles Turnah warned.
''Even if we didn't do business with them now, they would be harmful to us in the future,'' he said.
He didn't have the slightest affection for the Dank family's father and son, and was not interested in becoming friends with them. Not for any reason, whatsoever, whether in public or private.
''Henry Dank has great ambitions. Let's see if he can surmount all the road blocks and achieve his dream,'' Peter Turnah told Charles.
If Henry Dank was able to climb up the ladder of success to a national and then global level, Peter Turnah would defeat him.
Peter Turnah's words were always valid, and so three days later, a team of not less than ten doctors came around and conducted a comprehensive consultation on Mrs. Dank.
The solution the expert doctors gave was that they would conduct a heart transplant for her.
Peter Turnah did everything in his power to make sure that the entire process went well, and soon enough, Mrs Dank had heart transplant surgery performed on her.
The operation went on very successfully, and Henry Dank personally paid Peter Turnah a visit to his company, to thank him for the timely help.
''Henry Dank asked me what particular school you would be attending abroad,'' Peter Turnah said to Audrey after Henry's visit.
When Audrey told him, Peter came back from work the next day with more news from Henry Dank.
''Henry said that Jerry would apply for the same school you are going to attend, and that Jerry would take care of you as much as he can when you people are away,'' Peter told Audrey.
Audrey was watching some sort of game on her mobile device, and leisurely licking ice cream when her dad made this announcement to her. Hearing this, she coughed rigorously.
Peter Turnah hurried to her and patted her back.
''Sorry. Have some water,'' he said.
''Why are you so excited already? I still have good news for you. Henry Dank said that if you could wait for Jerry to finish his document processing, both of you could travel together,'' Peter added.
''Dad, I don't want to go to the same school with him, let alone travel all the way abroad with him,'' Audrey replied with a serious tone.
Peter Turnah scoffed.
''Child, it is not a crime to fail and get rejected after making a confession. Love grows continuously, and until there is an avenue for love to grow, it will remain dormant. Give yourselves a chance,'' he said to Audrey.
Audrey became depressed.
''But dad, I don't like him anymore. I don't want to develop any feelings for him. It's all gone now,'' she told her father.
''Okay, okay. You don't like him. I have heard you,'' Peter Turnah said with a child-like tone, remaining of the opinion that Audrey was just still angry.
''We will let him chase you in the future. Okay?'' He said to Audrey.
