Chapter 19 Surprise Visit
After the drunk man was treated, he confessed to his crimes.
He was a resident in the same estate that Elizabeth lived in. He was drinking at home, alone because his business was not doing well. While he was drinking and feeling empty, he was also watching pornography.
He was thinking of going out to have a good time of excitement thereafter, but he bumped into Elizabeth, and the alcohol had so much control over him that he could not resist Elizabeth so he attacked her.
Elizabeth's actions towards the drunk man were regarded as self-defense, and she was free to go.
Audrey looked at the text message from Jerry Dank with emotion in her heart, she never imagined that a day would come where Jerry Dank would deem it fit to text her.
If it were before, she would be head over heels and celebrate with excitement because of this, but she just sent an okay back to Jerry Dank instead.
For two consecutive days, Audrey remained in her room so that she could recuperate. Moreover, she had only a few days left until it was time for her to go abroad.
Elizabeth did not expect that Henry Dank and Marcus Coker would bring Jerry Dank and Elizabeth Coker to her house, bearing generous gifts.
She remembered when Henry Dank told her that he was going to come to her door specially to thank her, and she thought that he was just being polite, unknown to her that he meant every word of what he was saying, and was really there in her house with his son, Jerry.
Peter Turnah welcomed and entertained the guests, and Henry Dank explained what had happened that night, and praised Audrey for her bravery.
Following Henry Dank's explanation, Peter Turnah came to find out that Audrey got injured while she was trying to save Elizabeth Coker.
Peter Turnah didn't know if he should be proud of Audrey or he should be distressed and smack her.
''No wonder she hurried back home that night and hurried into her room without saying anything to anyone. Of late she had remained in her room and avoided everyone. I didn't know it was because of this. Why did you not tell me that something as serious as this happened?'' Peter Turnah asked Audrey.
Audrey knew that she had done something wrong, so she was quick to apologize.
''I am sorry dad. I didn't want to tell you because I knew you and Charles would bother a lot, and it was really just a small injury,'' Audrey said to her father.
''It does not matter. You should tell us even if it's a small thing or not. No wonder you stayed out so late, and we were all worried at home,'' Peter Turnah said to Audrey sternly.
''I'm sorry dad. I know I am wrong, and I won't do it again,'' Audrey promised. She obediently accepted her mistake without putting up a fight first.
Peter Turnah stared at Audrey with astonishment.
''Another time? Do you want it to happen another time?'' He asked her in a stunned voice.
''No. What I mean is that I will always tell you and Charles anything that happens to me in the future. I will not hide anything from you people again, okay?'' Audrey replied.
Peter Turnah scoffed.
''It's nearly the same thing,'' he replied.
While father and daughter were having this back and forth, Henry Dank smiled.
''Miss Turnah is innocent and brave, and is always eager to help people around her. I am envious of you Mr. Turnah, for having such a daughter,'' he said jovially.
Peter Turnah smiled like a proud father.
''It's just that my temper is so soft and willful around her, and I tend to spoil her,'' he said. However, he didn't lose the proud expression that was heavy on his face.
The housekeeper served light snacks, while Henry Dank and Peter Turnah discussed about business and the product launch of Henry Dank's company which would soon take place.
Soon enough, Audrey became bored, and so she pulled Elizabeth who was sitting by her.
''Let's go out to play,'' she said to Elizabeth.
It turned out that she had a couple of things to say to Elizabeth.
In the garden, a fiery red phoenix flower bloomed brightly. Elizabeth Coker and Audrey Turnah sat on the swing frame and chatted.
When Elizabeth Coker met Audrey Turnah before, she was always timid and weak, and refused to take the initiative to speak, but maybe because Audrey Turnah saved her that night, she became a lot closer to Audrey Turnah and talked a lot more.
Elizabeth Coker was a little surprised when Audrey Turnah said that she was going to go abroad in a few days.
''Are you not going to wait for Jerry Dank?'' Elizabeth asked Audrey.
"Why should I wait for him?" Audrey asked with her eyebrows raised inquisitively.
"He is him, I am me, and we are not going to the same school," she said.
''But...'' Elizabeth Coker muttered.
Audrey rolled her eyes.
Then Elizabeth summoned courage to ask Audrey the most expensive question of the moment.
''Don't you like Jerry Dank?'' Elizabeth asked.
Audrey smiled lightly.
"Maybe it was a little bit before. But later I found out that we are not from the same world, so that little bit of liking is gone," she replied with little interest.
Elizabeth was a little skeptical.
"You really don't like Jerry Dank again? At all?'' She asked.
"I really don't like him, why did I lie to you? I didn't know about your relationship with Jerry Dank before, and I messed it up, I'm really sorry," Audrey replied.
Audrey Turnah looked at Elizabeth with a smile.
"Actually, I think that you and Jerry Dank are more suitable to be a couple,'' she said to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Coker blushed and defended herself shyly.
"No, no..." she murmured.
Audrey Turnah was looking at the situation from outside, so how could she not see Elizabeth's real thoughts concerning Jerry Dank.
