Chapter 9 Take Care Of Her
Audrey glanced at Jerry and Elizabeth as they sat opposite her. Jerry had an indifferent expression as usual, while Elizabeth felt a bit uneasy, as she looked at Audrey quietly.
Seeing that Elizabeth was looking at her, Audrey smiled politely, and Elizabeth quickly lowered her head in embarrassment.
The corridor was quiet, and a gust of cold wind suddenly blew through the window. Audrey could not help it, and so she snorted loudly.
She sniffed, and contemplated going to wait for her family in the car when Jerry suddenly got up and closed the window.
He turned around, and then took off his jacket.
Audrey stared in surprise. What was Jerry Dank trying to do?
She was definitely thinking too much, because Jerry suddenly put his jacket over Elizabeth's back.
Elizabeth looked at Audrey and wanted to refuse Jerry's jacket, but he insisted.
''You are cold, you have to put it on,'' he said with a clear tone.
It was at this point that Audrey remembered that Elizabeth had a serious cold two days ago, and could not make it to school, so Jerry reported her absence to the teacher.
That time, she saw the note belonging to Elizabeth on Jerry's table, and when Audrey queried Jerry concerning the note, he maintained a straight face and didn't reply.
Audrey, feeling like a florescent in her dazzling princess dress, was about to make an excuse to leave the corridor, when the door of Marcus Coker's ward suddenly swung open.
Charles Turnah stepped out of the ward with a blank expression on his face.
''Audrey, dad is calling you,'' he said to his sister.
''Me?'' Audrey asked in shock.
Charles nodded and then glanced at Jerry.
''You too, you should come with her,'' he said to Jerry.
Jerry looked obviously stunned.
They were not going to make any business dealings with the Turnah family, so why was he being asked to come in?
Audrey and Jerry followed Charles into the ward, and when they got inside, they saw that Peter Turnah was chatting and laughing with Henry Dank. Even Marcus Coker, who was on the hospital bed, had a faint smile on his face.
It was obvious that the families had reconciled, and were having a good conversation.
''Mr. Dank has a good head over his neck, and is skilled in this business of telecommunications,'' Peter Turnah praised.
''Very soon, your company will be the leading giant in the business of telecommunications,'' he added.
Mr. Dank bowed in respect and thanks.
''You won the award last year, and I have always admired you from a distance. I have heard a lot about you from others. They spoke highly of you, and now that I have met you, I must confess that everything I heard about you is true. There is no one out there that is better than you. You are the role model of my generation,'' Henry Dank confessed in all sincerity.
''Ah. Come off it with the polite words,'' Peter Turnah replied.
''If you need any help with anything in the future, please let me know, and I would gladly come to your aid. It doesn't matter if we are in business or not. I am making this commitment to you as a friend,'' Peter Turnah said.
Henry Dank could not stop thanking him.
Audrey was a bit taken aback.
The families were not going to do business together, so what was all the happiness about? She wondered.
''Jerry, you wouldn't believe it. Mr. Turnah has offered to help us contact every famous doctor in the country concerning your mother,'' Henry Dank said to his son.
Jerry Dank's mother suffered heart failure, and had been bed ridden for many years.
The Turnah family company specialized in various leading industries in the country, which included the medical industry as well.
In the medical field, Peter Turnah owned a high definition laboratory that operated with artificial intelligence. With this feature, he attracted so many experts in the medical field, and if he used his influence to help the Dank family treat their mother, it would be very effective.
Jerry Dank was moved.
''Thank you, Mr. Turnah,'' he raised his eyes to look at Audrey's father, and thanked him.
Peter Turnah approached Jerry Dank with admiration, and finally understood why Audrey liked him the way she did.
''I would arrange for a consultation for your mother, and then I believe she would be cured at all costs,'' Peter Turnah said to Jerry.
''However, I have just one condition, before I do it,'' he added.
Jerry's pupils dilated, and he looked at Audrey subconsciously. Audrey was equally as confused as Jerry was as she looked at her father, wondering what he was going to say.
''What is the condition?'' Jerry asked with a low tone.
''Two years ago, there was a young talented boy that won the World Olympiad in mathematics and physics, and got offers from several renowned universities. I always thought that he went to study abroad,'' Peter Turnah said, and then broke into an emotional tone.
''If not that I met your father today, I would not have thought that the boy was you, and that you studied in our ordinary high schools in Bullen city, so that you could take care of your mother,'' he added.
Then he looked at Jerry Dank with meaningful eyes.
''My only condition is that you go abroad to continue your studies,'' Peter Turnah eventually said.
Jerry Dank trembled slightly as he expressed surprise.
''Can I ask why you are helping us like this?'' He asked Peter Turnah.
''There are two reasons. The first one is because I do not like to see wasted talent, and the second reason is...'' he said, and pointed at Audrey.
''My daughter has been a spoiled kid since she was born, and she will be moving abroad soon, whether it be for study or for life. My request is that when you get abroad, you should help me to take care of her,'' Peter Turnah said
