Chapter 23 Sick In The Stomach
Audrey thanked him and let Jerry Dank walk in front as usual.
Jerry Dank didn't say anything, and didn't look back.
Halfway down the mountain road, Audrey Turnah felt that her whole body was a little weak, and her stomach hurt like a twist. The pain came so violently that she held on to the tree close to her and barely stood still, her eyes turning black.
Jerry Dank also noticed something was wrong, and hurried over to support her.
"What's wrong?" He asked Audrey.
"Jerry, I...I have a stomach ache..." Audrey replied.
Audrey Turnah spoke with difficulty, as if someone was twisting a pair of scissors in her stomach. After a while, her face turned pale, and cold sweat broke out on her forehead.
Jerry Dank didn't hesitate.
"I'll carry you down,'' he said urgently.
He leaned over and carried her on his back, and went down the mountain quickly.
There was a shuttle bus parked at the foot of the mountain, and two staff members were chatting. Jerry Dank strode over.
"Take us to the hospital," Jerry Dank said to the staff members when he approached them.
There was a hospital on Craylow Island. In order to meet the opening tomorrow, the doctor had already taken up his post. When Jerry Dank visited today, he met a staff member.
The two staff members hurriedly opened the door for them to come in, and went straight to the hospital at full speed.
Audrey Turnah was curled up in Jerry Dank's arms, her eyes were slightly closed, her face was almost completely pale, her lips were bloodless, and her hair and dress were wet with sweat.
Audrey Turnah's hand clenched Jerry Dank's clothes tightly, and she groaned with an unconscious cry.
"Jerry, can you make them hurry up, it hurts so much..." Audrey said.
She felt like she was dying of pain.
Jerry Dank hugged Audrey Turnah, adjusted to a slightly more comfortable posture for her, and reassured her gently.
"Hold on for a while, we will be there soon," Jerry said to her.
When the shuttle bus finally stopped, Jerry Dank hugged her by the waist and ran into the emergency room with the fastest speed in his life.
When Charles Turnah and Leopold Demp rushed over, Audrey Turnah had not yet come out of the emergency room, and Jerry Dank was waiting outside the door.
"What were you doing on the mountain with my sister at night?" Leopold Demp asked Jerry Dank.
Leopold was angry, rushed over and grabbed Jerry Dank's collar.
"Did you do something to my sister to make her go to the hospital?!'' Leopold asked Jerry angrily.
"If you want to know, go ask your sister yourself,'' Jerry Dank replied to Leopold.
The he glanced at Leopold Demp coldly.
"Let go,'' Jerry said.
''Leopold, wait for the doctor to come out so that we can understand it clearly," Charles Turnah said to Leopold Demp solemnly.
If it really was that Jerry Dank had done something to his sister, then Jerry's broken bones would not be enough for him to pay back.
Leopold Demp knew that he was wrong, so he let go of Jerry Dank.
The door of the emergency room finally opened, and Audrey Turnah was wheeled out while lying on the mobile bed.
"Miss Turnah's gastric mucosa was irritated because she drank too much cold drinks, which caused sudden stomach pain," the doctor started to say to the trio waiting for Audrey outside.
"After now, she must pay attention to rest and have as little cold drinks as possible," the doctor advised.
Charles Turnah hurriedly agreed, looking at the pale Audrey Turnah, he was distressed.
"It's all my fault, I shouldn't have given her ice cream just now. I'll tell my dad later, and there will be no cold drinks for her at home," he said.
Audrey Turnah argued weakly.
"What? The doctor clearly said to drink cold things less, but didn't tell me not to drink it at all..." she said.
"Audrey, you are already like this, and you still want to drink more cold things!" Leopold Demp said to Audrey.
Leopold rushed to the bedside, almost crying.
"Do you know that you almost scared me and Charles to death? We thought that Jerry Dank bullied you,'' he said.
He turned back to find Jerry Dank.
"Hey, where is Jerry? He was here just now, where has he gone to?'' Leopold Demp wondered out loud.
"He didn't bully me,'' Audrey Turnah replied.
Audrey Turnah glared at him.
"Are you making trouble with him again?" She asked Leopold.
Leopold Demp scratched his head.
"No. I didn't trouble him. If you don't believe me, ask Charles,'' he replied to Audrey.
Charles Turnah looked at his sister thoughtfully.
"What were you doing with Jerry Dank on the mountain at night?" He asked Audrey.
"It's nothing, I wanted to visit the ancestral hall, and I happened to meet him. I had a stomach ache when I was going down the mountain, so he sent me to the hospital,'' Audrey replied.
She answered so calmly, which made Charles Turnah not suspicious of her.
Charles Turnah stayed with Audrey Turnah until she finished the infusion, and sent her back to her room.
"Don't play around too much, I'll have someone take you home tomorrow morning," He told her.
''Okay,'' Audrey replied.
After thinking about it, she called Jerry Dank when she was alone.
"Thank you for helping me today,'' she said to him as soon as he anwered the call.
"You're welcome,'' Jerry Dank replied.
On the other end of the phone, Jerry Dank's voice was abrupt and low.
"By the way, my brother said that someone will take me home early tomorrow morning," Audrey Turnah said.
"You can play on the island until the afternoon before leaving. Will your father not send someone to pick you and Elizabeth up in the afternoon?" Audrey asked.
''He will,'' Jerry Dank replied abruptly.
Then both of them became quiet. There was an awkward silence between them, and they seemed like strangers.
