Chapter 29 He Had Motive
"Why is she here?" Elizabeth asked Jerry Dank with surprise.
Jerry pursed his lips.
"She helped make the power point presentation for the press conference last night," he replied.
The press conference was a great success, and Elizabeth Coker watched it on her mobile phone. She didn't expect that the power point presentation would be put together by Audrey Turnah.
Elizabeth looked at Audrey with complicated eyes.
Did she spend the whole night with Jerry last night?
Although the voices of the two of them were quiet, Audrey's sleep was very shallow, and she woke up in a daze after hearing their voices.
She rubbed her eyes.
"Elizabeth, you're here," Audrey said tiredly.
"Sorry, I didn't know you were there, I just brought food for Jerry,'' Elizabeth replied plainly.
"It's okay, I should go back too,'' Audrey said.
She packed her things, called a taxi with her mobile phone, and planned to leave.
"I will escort you,'' Jerry said and got up.
He took her downstairs.
The taxi hadn't arrived yet, and the two stood on the side of the road waiting for the car.
"Why didn't you go back earlier?" Jerry Dank asked Audrey
''You were leaving, and there was nobody at the hospital to look after your father,'' Audrey Turnah replied. She was really worried.
Jerry Dank's dark eyes glanced at her quickly, then he looked away and said nothing.
When Audrey Turnah returned home, she found out that her brother was still on Craylow Island and had not returned.
She wanted to call him to ask about the Long Building Management Committee, but after thinking about it, she decided to wait for him to return home and ask him in person.
Audrey Turnah was feeling unwell, she couldn't stand it anymore, and fell asleep on the sofa.
She didn't wake up until the sound of a car engine sounded from the courtyard, and when she hurried out, she found that it was her father's car.
Peter Turnah went on a business trip to another province the previous day to inspect a medical project, and had just arrived home from the airport.
The housekeeper, Abel, was taking luggage from the trunk, but Peter Turnah had no intention of getting off the car.
Audrey Turnah chased after him.
"Dad, where are you going?" She asked.
"To the hospital to see Mr. Dank," Audrey Turnah said. He already heard the news of what happened to Henry Dank and Marcus Coker.
Audrey hurriedly opened the car door.
"I'll go too," she told her father.
Peter Turnah agreed.
He didn't know that Audrey nearly fainted from stomach pain last night, and then stayed up all night in the hospital, otherwise he would never agree.
"Dad, have you watched the Dank family's press conference?" Audrey Turnah asked.
"Look, Henry Dank had an accident, but he has a good son. With time, Jerry Dank's prospects would be limitless," Audrey told her father.
Peter Turnah sighed slightly.
"The conference was perfect from the conception of the power point theme to the performance of Jerry Dank,'' he said to Audrey.
Audrey Turnah was a little happy when she heard her father praise her presentation.
"Dad, the press conference was held in Long Building. Do you Charles know the person in charge of this building?" She asked.
"Of course,'' Peter Turnah replied urgently.
"Long Building is affiliated to Long Real Estate. Their former boss Daniel Long and I are friends, but he is not in good health. Now the business is overseen by his son Long, John,'' he added.
As he spoke, he seemed to remember something.
"Your brother and Long, John have a good relationship. Long, John attended your eighteenth birthday party this year, have you forgotten?" He asked Audrey.
Audrey Turnah was stunned, unable to say a word for a long time.
Long John had a good relationship with her elder brother, and it would be easy for her elder brother to let Long John deliberately use the venue to embarrass Henry Dank.
If the issue they had with the venue was because of Charles Turnah's intentional embarrassment, then what about the car accident? Did the car accident have anything to do with Charles?
While she was feeling restless, Peter Turnah's phone suddenly rang, and it was from the secretary Aloy.
Aloy said a few words to Peter Turnah, and Peter Turnah's face changed suddenly.
"Dad, what's wrong?" Audrey asked, she also became nervous, she had never seen her father like this.
"Henry Dank is awake," Peter Turnah said.
Peter Turnah's face was strangely heavy.
"He submitted a video to the police and passed it to the media at the same time," he added.
The video was recorded by Henry Dank when Marcus Coker was dying.
In the video, he said there was a problem with the car's brakes and it was suspected that someone had manipulated it.
He testified against Charles Turnah in the video, saying that he was the biggest suspect in this car accident.
"I have never offended anyone, I have only had conflicts with Charles Turnah. Charles Turnah has always wanted our patented technology, and only he can kill me. He has motives concerning me and Henry Dank,'' Marcus Coker said in the video.
In the video, Marcus Coker's face was covered in blood, his voice trembled, and blood gushed from his nose and mouth every time he said a few words.
However, he insisted on saying what he wanted to say before closing his eyes.
Concerning this car accident, the police originally concluded that it was a traffic accident.
Marcus Coker was speeding and merging, and in order to avoid the oncoming car from the side and rear, he swerved the steering wheel, causing the bridge to fall.
The full responsibility for the accident, was stated as Marcus Coker's driving.
But with this video, the case immediately escalated from an ordinary traffic accident to a murder case.
Perhaps Henry Dank was worried that the Turnah family would put pressure on the police, so he exposed the video to the media in advance.
This video carried Marcus Coker's last words.
The injured person testified before his death. The content was too tragic and involved the Turnah family. Once the media was released, it caused an uproar on the Internet, and public opinion was boiling.
