Chapter 8 Diplomatic Peter Turnah
Peter Turnah listened to his son, and his face was solemn. For someone who had been in the business world for a long time, he understood what his son was talking about, by all means.
He also glanced at Audrey, who was standing beside him. When she entered the office, Peter could see that her hair and body were wet from running in the rain, and as soon as she entered, she asked about the Dank family.
She had mentioned to Peter that she had forgotten about Jerry Dank, and no longer liked him, and intended to go back to study abroad. However, Peter doubted that her reason for going abroad was indeed because she didn't like Jerry anymore. He was nursing the opinion that she wanted to go abroad because she wanted to stay away from being rejected after confessing her feelings to Jerry Dank. She wanted to go away and heal alone.
Peter heaved a tired sigh.
''Okay, I will have a conversation with Henry Dank tonight,'' he said.
''What? Dad, how can you stoop so low to want to have a conversation with Henry Dank?'' Charles Turnah asked.
The Dank family company was a small one with only about 20 to 30 employees, but the Turnah family company had several employees, and was the biggest company in the country. How could Peter Turnah want to compare himself with Henry Dank?
''You may be right, but he has skill, and we need him,'' Peter Turnah said to Charles, and while he was talking to Charles, he was already calling the secretary to fix a meeting with Henry Dank.
The secretary returned to tell Peter Turnah that Henry Dank was at the hospital, visiting Marcus Coker after the incident that happened at the Dank company, and that he could come to Marcus' ward at the hospital to see Henry if he wanted.
''Go back and tell Henry Dank that the venue of the meeting will be right here in my father's office. If he doesn't show up, he should prepare to go bankrupt. My father cannot go over to wherever he is under the rain,'' Charles Turnah told the secretary with an angry tone.
Give Henry Dank a finger, and he grabs an arm. The Turnah family had been in bed with the Dank family deliberately, and Henry had used it as an opportunity to disrespect the Turnah family.
''Don't worry about it. I will meet him at the hospital. Marcus Coker is admitted after all, I would use it as an opportunity to offer my condolences,'' Peter Turnah said with a wave of his hand.
The secretary quickly prepared a gift for Marcus Coker, and then Peter Turnah took Audrey and Charles into the car.
''Send Audrey home first,'' Peter Turnah said to the driver.
''Dad, can I go with you?'' Audrey asked.
''I won't enter the ward, I'll just wait for you and Charles outside,'' she said.
Per adventure, Peter got angry while he was talking to Henry Dank, Audrey would be there to ask for mercy on behalf of the Dank family. If not, the Dank family would go bankrupt the following morning because her father's mood could easily be altered. Moreover, he had Charles with him, and Charles was ready to trigger Peter at the slightest provocation.
Peter Turnah also guessed Audrey's reason for wanting to follow him. He knew that it was because she was afraid that he would trouble Henry Dank. Even though she knew that she was not supposed to be there, her soft voice and cute eyes moved Peter to allow her to go with them.
''You just follow me, and don't say anything when we get there, okay?'' Peter said to her and Audrey nodded.
''Thank you dad,'' she said happily.
Seeing his daughter like this, Peter Turnah was sad.
How could this silly girl have been rejected by that boy, and still care about him up to the extent of wanting to protect his family?
After a while, they got to the hospital.
Audrey was sitting in the corridor of the patients' ward. How could she not have imagined that Jerry Dank and Elizabeth Coker would be at the hospital by this time? She appeared to be calm, but her heart was heavy.
She felt like drinking poison. How could her brain have frozen the way it did? How could she not have known that Jerry and Elizabeth would be at the hospital? She should not have followed her dad, and then asked to sit outside the ward where everyone could see her.
Now, she was at the corner, and she could not even hear what was being talked about inside the ward. Moreover, she had to face these two people that despised her. She was in the abyss at the moment.
Audrey was uncomfortable.
The reason Audrey felt like fainting in embarrassment was not solely because of Jerry Dank.
When her father allowed her to follow him, he was afraid that she would get sick because of the wet clothes that she had on, so he asked the secretary to go and buy Audrey new clothes.
The secretary, not knowing Audrey's preference, bought a pink dress that made Audrey look like a princess. It had rhinestones on it that shone in the daytime, and could make one go blind if the person looked at her too much.
At first, she didn't mind wearing the dress, as she didn't imagine that she would see Jerry Dank and Elizabeth Coker at the hospital. But now that she was seeing them, and they were also seeing her in this childish dress, Audrey wanted to faint.
Apart from that, it was freezing.
The place where she sat was by the window, and the rain, accompanied by the wind, blew on her skin and made her feel so cold and uncomfortable. In fact, she should not have been at that hospital for any reason whatsoever.
Also, she didn't dare move to the other window where she could feel warm, because the window was beside Jerry Dank.
