Chapter 12 Distant Relative

Audrey glared at him angrily.

''Are you going to borrow me the jacket or not? If you would not, I would find someone else,'' she said, but Leopold quickly took off the jacket and handed it over to her.

Audrey took the coat and put it over Elizabeth, covering her stained dress.

''Thank you,'' Elizabeth replied, amidst tears and a heaving embarrassment.

Mercy Cun was shocked to see this.

''Do you know her?'' She asked Audrey.

Audrey turned to look at Mercy Cun with an expression of disapproval across her face.

''Apologise to my friend,'' she said.

''Apologise? Why would I apologise? She seduced my boyfriend, and wants to claim him, so I poured her soda. I was even pretty lenient, to be honest,'' Mercy Cun replied.

Mercy Cun, however, felt somewhat guilty.

If she knew that Elizabeth and Audrey were friends, she would not have been so cruel to Elizabeth.

''I did not seduce him. Both of us are just relatives,'' Elizabeth whined.

''Oh please, don't be ridiculous. How can Charles be related to you? Have you looked at yourself in the mirror. Are you worth up to a thousand dollars as you are currently standing?'' Mercy asked with scorn.

''Moreover, you think I am blind right? I saw you laughing and falling into his arms. Is that not seduction to you?'' She added.

Audrey was surprised to hear all this. Elizabeth and Charles Baman? How possible could it be?

Leopold smiled sheepishly when he saw that Audrey was trying to figure it all out.

''Audrey, it is obvious that this Elizabeth person is someone with a back story, so forget about this. It is not your business. Trust me,'' he said.

'Keep quiet,'' Audrey said to Leopold.

She took out her phone and called Charles.

''Charles, where are you, are you done? Please come back as soon as you are done,'' she said.

Mercy Cun didn't know what Audrey was up to, or how Charles would react towards the incident, but she was afraid when he came.

Ask for the question of if she was Charles' girlfriend indeed, she was.

Charles had just confessed his feelings to her days ago, and he sent a thousand roses across to her while doing so.

''What happened?'' Charles asked as soon as he arrived.

Seeing the cluster of people from afar, he ran back to the venue, and he was panting profusely while trying to figure out what went down.

''What happened to you?'' He asked Audrey.

''Your girlfriend, Mercy, said that my friend here seduced you, so she poured soda on her,'' Audrey explained and pointed at Elizabeth.

''Elizabeth is my relative, Mercy. She slipped, so I helped her up. What do you mean by seduction? Why did you do this? If you were not sure of something you saw, why didn't you ask me first?'' Charles asked angrily.

Mercy was very embarrassed. She thought that Elizabeth was the daughter of one of the servants in Charles' house, that was why she acted the way she did. It never occurred to her that Elizabeth was a relative of Charles.

''Charles, no one stopped you from chasing after Audrey, but because she rejected you, you just went and picked a random girlfriend, right?'' Leopold asked.

He was stealthily pouring chemicals into an already open wound.

''I don't have a girlfriend,'' Charles replied with a frown.

Leopold's eyes glared in disbelief, and he pointed at Mercy, fearing that the world would come to an end as a result of what Charles just said.

''But she said that you are her boyfriend,'' Leopold said.

''Not at the moment. I am not,'' Charles replied.

He pointed at the gate of the house.

''Mercy, you are not welcome here. Please get out of here as fast as you can,'' he ordered.

Mercy snorted angrily and turned around to leave.

''I apologize on her behalf, Elizabeth. I'm so sorry,'' Charles said.

Elizabeth shook her head with tears in her eyes.

''Her clothes are wet. I think you should get her something else to put on,'' Audrey suggested to Charles.

Charles made arrangements for her to change, and soon she was escorted to have a change of clothes.

''So, where did Elizabeth slip if I may ask? Why was Charles' hand around her waist?'' Leopold mischievously asked when Elizabeth entered the room.

Charles immediately became uncomfortable.

''It was at the pavillon. The steep side of the pavillion,'' Charles quickly replied.

The Baman home was very big and quite luxurious. There was a pavillon at a far end of the massive expanse of land that the house was on. There existed as much as a mountain, with fountains. The entire place was intimidating.

Charles took Elizabeth there to watch the scenery, and while they were stepping down from the pavillon, Elizabeth slipped and Charles caught her.

Elizabeth, being afraid of heights and what just happened to her, did not let go of Charles when he saved her. She clung to him until both of them stepped down from the mountain pavillion together, and that was what Mercy Cun sighted from a distance, and thought that Elizabeth was throwing herself on Charles, seducing him.

''That means you are guilty,'' Leopold said and showed no sign of backing down on accusing Charles for being unfaithful to his girlfriend.
''You have a girlfriend, yet you are entertaining other girls. You deserve the harassment,'' he added.

Charles looked very frustrated and depressed.

''My dad asked me to show Elizabeth around, that was why I was with her,'' he explained.

''Is Elizabeth really your relative? Say the truth,'' Leopold Demp asked.

Charles rolled his eyes.

''Let's talk about something else. She is a distant relative that has been away for so many years. My dad invited her dad and herself to my birthday party,'' Charles said.

Charles appeared to be a bit puzzled while he explained.

''I don't know what's so special about her dad that my dad treats them differently. They are just a distant relative and nothing more,'' he added.
