Chapter 22 Wandering Wonders
Audrey was not hungry, she had just eaten the ice cream and fruit.
The siblings chatted for a while. Audrey Turnah saw that her brother had finished eating, and stood up consciously.
''Charles, I'm sure you have other things to do. I'll leave and take a walk around,'' Audrey said to him.
She didn't really want to go back to the seaside, she walked slowly around the stone path in the island, and unknowingly she came to the foot of the Mountain in the island.
She inexplicably remembered the story of the temple and the fairy with the general. Audrey Turnah hesitated for a while, but went up.
Craylow Mountain was not too high. After walking up for about half an hour, the landscape exposed that the lights were already lit on the top of the mountain.
She could vaguely see two statues in the ancestral hall, the man was majestic and the woman was demure and elegant. If she were to guess, she would guess that they are the general and his wife.
Standing in front of the engraved stone tablet outside the door, Audrey Turnah revisited this tragic and poignant love story by the light before she was ready to enter the ancestral hall.
Before her foot crossed the threshold, she was already stunned.
In the ancestral hall, someone stood quietly, looking up at the couplets on both sides of the statue.
The night wind blew, and his clothes fluttered slightly, but his expression was focused. The warm yellow light poured down from the top of his head, and a faint halo appeared on the boy's angular face.
The unparalleled youth, and the serenity that does not show on the mountains and the water seem to be perfectly combined in Jerry Dank.
Audrey Turnah stood silently for a while, preparing to retreat lightly.
However, Jerry Dank had already heard the movement and turned around.
Both of them looked at each other, and Jerry Dank explained embarrassingly.
"I, I was just curious about that story, so I came up to see, I didn't expect you to be here..."
If she knew that Jerry Dank was there, she would definitely not come up, otherwise Jerry Dank would think she was following him on purpose.
Jerry Dank grunted and said nothing else.
"Where's Elizabeth, didn't she come?" Audrey looked around her and then asked Jerry.
As soon as the words came out of her mouth, she remembered Elizabeth's fear of heights.
Sure enough, she heard Jerry Dank say:
"She doesn't like climbing mountains very much, so she took a rest.''
He paused.
"Are you still watching?" Jerry Dank asked Audrey.
Audrey was slightly stunned, and it took a moment to realize that Henry Dank was asking her if she wanted to go into the ancestral hall to have a look.
She didn't want to stay, but after thinking about it for a bit, she went in.
The ancestral hall was not big, and there were murals on the surrounding walls. It was about the legends of the general and his wife becoming immortals, fighting against all kinds of monsters and ghosts, and protecting the people of Craylow.
Audrey Turnah took a close look around the murals in the ancestral hall, and when she turned around again, Jerry Dank was nowhere to be seen.
She breathed a sigh of relief, deliberately staying in the ancestral hall for a while longer, and then came out.
Just as she stepped out of the gate of the ancestral hall, he saw Jerry Dank standing beside the stone monument in the courtyard, looking at the words on the monument in a trance.
"Let's go,'' he looked back and said when he heard Audrey approaching.
Audrey was stunned for a moment, she thought that Jerry Dank had left long ago, but she didn't expect that he would still be waiting for her.
Although she was a little moved, she did not dare to get too close to Jerry Dank, as usual.
Even if she knew that Jerry Dank in front of her was not the one in her dream, she still felt uncomfortable and a little stressful when he approached her.
Audrey deliberately fell a few steps behind Jerry Dank, surrounded by insects and the night was quiet.
Jerry Dank suddenly stopped and turned around.
Audrey Turnah didn't take precautions and almost slammed into his arms. After reacting, her whole body jumped like a spring.
The way Audrey repelled Jerry Dank was worthy of note.
Jerry Dank saw this and frowned.
It was not the first time, she was so terrified in front of him, as if he was some kind of beast.
Jerry Dank really found it strange. It stood to reason that she was so bold when chasing him before, so she was not supposed to always be so fearful when she saw him.
"Am I scary?" Jerry Dank asked her.
His deep voice fell in her ears, and Audrey nodded instinctively, realized that something was wrong, shook her head again, and lowered her eyes.
"It's okay, it's okay," she said with a guilty conscience.
Jerry Dank's dark eyes stared at her calmly.
If she had the guts to face a drunk man alone, but didn't have the guts to look at him, she was lying, and Jerry could tell the truth at a glance.
He took two steps towards Audrey Turnah, half of his face hidden in the shadows.
Under the hazy moonlight, that face looked like a perfect and cold sculpture, with an astonishingly beautiful outline.
However, Audrey Turnah only felt a moment of unreasonable fear, and subconsciously took a few steps back,
"You, what do you want?" She asked Jerry Dank.
Jerry Dank raised his hand and gently removed a leaf from her hair.
"This fell on your head," he said gently.
Audrey was speechless and embarassed.
If he wanted to pick leaves from her head, why didn't he tell her in advance? Why did he have to scare her? Audrey thought.
Even if he had supposedly done something good to her, she was still not sure of him.
