Chapter 86 She Is A Sister To Me
A deep voice sounded from behind.
"Audrey Turnah."
Audrey Turnah turned her head, and saw that Jerry Dank had already woken up, striding over with an umbrella in his hand.
"You already woke up?" It was too fast, you didn't sleep much at all,'' Audrey commented.
Jerry Dank nodded.
"It's raining, I'll take you back," he said to Audrey.
He was already a very light sleeper, yet the sound of rain hitting the window woke him up.
Audrey Turnah refuse.
"No need. You should stay with Miss Coker,'' she told Jerry Dank.
Jerry Dank glanced at Elizabeth Coker.
"You came to see me, what's the matter?" He asked.
Elizabeth Coker smiled.
"It's nothing, I just came to see you to help you clean up the house by the way,'' Elizabeth replied.
"I remember telling you before that there are hourly workers to clean up the house, so you don't have to make a special trip," Jerry Dank replied to Elizabeth calmly.
"You go back first, I'll see Dr. Turnah off,'' he added.
Elizabeth Coker's face froze, looking rather ugly.
Audrey Turnah was slightly stunned, a little unaware of Jerry Dank's attitude towards Elizabeth Coker.
She remembered vividly back in the day, when Elizabeth coughed, Jerry Dank would take off his coat and put it on her.
It was so late now, and it was still raining, shouldn't he see Elizabeth Coker off?
She still hesitated, but Jerry Dank couldn't help opening his umbrella.
"Let's go, Doctor Turnah,'' Jerry Dank said nonchalantly.
Audrey Turnah was stunned.
Before, he always called her by her first name, but now he called her Doctor Turnah.
Was it because she was his doctor that he insisted on seeing her off?
Jerry Dank insisted so much, if she refused again, it would appear hypocritical.
Audrey Turnah stopped talking and stepped into the rain. The umbrella in Jerry Dank's hand covered her from the falling drizzle in time.
The rainy night was slightly cool, and the two stood under the same umbrella, the distance between them was too close.
Audrey Turnah could clearly feel the temperature and breath of the man, and stepped aside uncomfortably.
Jerry Dank had a panoramic view of the girl's movements, and the umbrella in his hand tilted quietly.
If you look at it from behind, almost half of the umbrella was tilted to Audrey Turnah's side, and half of Jerry Dank's shoulders were wet by the rain, but he didn't care.
The car stopped not very far away, Jerry Dank opened the passenger door for her.
Turnah pursed her lips.
"I'll sit in the back,'' she said to Jerry Dank.
She was pretty concerned about sitting next to the driver as a co-pilot.
Previously, there was a hot topic on the Internet about whether the opposite sex should sit in at the co-pilot's seat. Most netizens thought that the co-pilot had a special meaning, and women other than girlfriends or wives should not be allowed to sit in the co-pilot.
Jerry Dank may not pay attention to these, but Audrey Turnah thought it was better to avoid dislike.
She was about to go to the back of the car, but Jerry Dank stood still, looking at her quietly.
"I rarely see people off in person,'' he said to Audrey.
Audrey raised her eyes in confusion.
"So?" She asked.
"So, don't use me as a driver,'' Jerry Dank replied lightly.
Audrey was speechless.
This man had a lot of problems.
She didn't speak, and lowered her head to get on the co-pilot's seat.
The two of them didn't say anything else along the way, and the car was very quiet.
Audrey Turnah thought about what Elizabeth Coker said, and felt very sorry.
At the beginning, her suspended animation brought shadows and consequences to Jerry Dank, perhaps far beyond her imagination.
Not only did it cause him long-term insomnia and headaches, but also cracks appeared in his relationship with Elizabeth Coker.
"I heard from Elizabeth that the day I was injured was her birthday. Every year on the anniversary of my... death, you go to my graveyard to pay respects. I'm really sorry for causing you so much trouble,'' Audrey said to Jerry Dank eventually breaking the silence in the car.
Audrey Turnah agreed to let Jerry Dank see her off, but in fact, it was more to say to him what she felt.
"Elizabeth seems to be very concerned about this, you should coax her well. Don't affect your life because of me,'' she added.
Jerry Dank's voice was low.
"What's the relationship between me and Elizabeth?" He asked.
Audrey Turnah was a little confused. Was there any need to ask her this question?
It was obvious many years ago, and of course it was the two-way relationship of childhood sweethearts.
"Don't you like her?" Audrey asked Jerry.
Audrey Turnah didn't like to beat around the bush.
"You ignored her birthday because of my death, of course you have to apologize to her and explain to her clearly,'' she told Jerry Dank clearly.
Jerry Dank's eyes were slightly cold, he raised his hand to turn the steering wheel, the car turned a corner, braked suddenly and stopped on the side of the road.
Audrey Turnah was slightly surprised.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
''Audrey Turnah!" Jerry Dank called.
Jerry Dank turned his head to look at her, with inexplicable meaning in his dark eyes.
"Who told you that I like Elizabeth?" He asked.
Audrey Turnah felt a little struck by a thunderbolt, and was stunned for a moment.
It's true that no one told her, but anyone with a discerning eye could see the interaction between him and Elizabeth Coker back then, right?
Looking at Audrey Turnah's appearance, Jerry Dank knew that she had misunderstood.
He was silent for a moment.
"Elizabeth Coker and I are equivalent to you and Leopold Demp,'' he said to her clearly.
Audrey Turnah didn't quite understand why he suddenly came up with such endless words.
''Leopold Demp and I are literally siblings,'' she said to Jerry Dank back.
He and Elizabeth are not.
Jerry Dank looked at her meaningfully.
"Only you and Leopold Demp are allowed to be siblings, but Elizabeth and I are not allowed to be siblings?" Jerry Dank asked.
Audrey Turnah was dumbfounded, she heard some big gossip tonight.
The mood at this moment may be comparable to the mood that Rosabelle felt when she heard that Audrey didn't like Jerry Dank.
She stammered.
"I, I thought you liked her..." Audrey said.
Jerry Dank suppressed his emotions.
"Elizabeth, it's not my type,'' he said.
From the beginning to the end, he just took care of Elizabeth Coker as a younger sister. She had no mother when she was young, so she was very dependent on him, and he tried his best to take care of her.
This kind of care had become a habit, just like how he later took care of his father, Henry Dank, who had handicapped legs and feet.
It was a responsibility, but it is also an instinct.
It wasn't until Audrey "passed away" that year that he knew that there was another emotion that was more unforgettable than family affection.
When he was young, he didn't know what liking someone meant. When he eventually did, many things were already irreversible.
Even so, he never thought about it.
He was too stubborn.
Even if the previous heartbeat was delayed, his heart was not willing to accept another person easily.
Even Elizabeth Coker, who had been close to him since childhood, couldn't do it.
You have to be moved to love someone.
There was no need to like someone if you haven't been moved.
So later, when Elizabeth Coker expressed her intentions to him, he was astonished and refused without hesitation.
Knowing Elizabeth Coker's intentions, he could no longer treat her as a younger sister, and can only alienate her.
This was the reason why he kept his distance from Elizabeth Coker and his attitude was indifferent towards her.
It was a pity that the girl in front of him didn't know anything about it, and instead thought that he... liked Elizabeth Coker.
"Elizabeth is not my type," Jerry Dank said again.
When Jerry Dank said this sentence, Audrey Turnah felt incredible.
She was about to ask him what type of girls he liked, but she restrained herself.
Jerry Dank didn't speak, his dark eyes stared at her without blinking, with an indescribable meaning.
The emotion in the man's eyes was deep, she couldn't understand it, she just felt uncomfortable all over.
"If you don't want to answer, you can forget about it,'' Audrey coolly said.
Jerry Dank was silent, but finally looked back.
The car started again, and Audrey Turnah felt that the suffocating air pressure in the car also dissipated, and she let out a silent breath.
Her question was too personal, she spoke too fast just now, she shouldn't have asked.
However, the information she got through the short communication with Jerry Dank tonight completely collapsed her cognition of the past few years.
Jerry Dank said that Elizabeth Coker was not his type, so he must have a type, right?
She tilted her head and looked out the window. The rain was pouring down the glass.
Although her face was calm, there was a little gossip in her heart.
She didn't know what kind of girl Jerry Dank liked. If he ever got the sort of lady that he wants another day, she really wanted to see him in style.
