Chapter 24 Marcus Dies, Henry Is Amputated
Audrey Turnah hesitated for a bit, and was about to say goodbye when she heard Jerry Dank suddenly try to say something.,
"I heard Elizabeth say you are going abroad in a few days, when will you leave?" Jerry asked her.
"The day after tomorrow,'' Audrey replied hastily.
"Good luck,'' Jerry said to her after keeping quiet for a while.
"Thanks," Audrey replied.
Since she rescued Elizabeth, Jerry Dank's attitude towards her had changed too much, and Audrey felt extremely relieved.
It seemed that she had arrived at a point of reconciliation with Jerry Dank.
That nightmare should never happen again. Audrey concluded that it was just a nightmare, and nothing more than that.
That night, Audrey Turnah slept extraordinarily sweetly, until in the middle of the night, she was awakened by a hurried knock on the door.
It was not her door that was knocked, but the door of Elizabeth Coker and Jerry Dank next door.
When Audrey went out, she saw that Charles Turnah her brother, was about to leave with Jerry Dank and Elizabeth Coker.
In the dim light, Jerry Dank's face was solemn, and Elizabeth Coker's eyes were full of tears.
Audrey was taken aback.
''Charles, what's the matter? Where are you going to so late?" She asked her brother.
Charles Turnah's expression was rare and solemn.
"Audrey, Henry Dank and Marcus Coker had a car accident, I have to send them back immediately!" He informed his sister.
Audrey was suddenly stunned.
"How could there be a car accident?" She asked.
"I heard that the car hit the guardrail, overturned the overpass, exploded and caught fire," Charles replied.
Then he pushed her into the room.
"It's cold at night, go back to sleep, I'll take them out of the island now," Charles urgently said.
"Charles, wait," Audrey Turnah ran into the room and grabbed a coat.
"I'll go too," she said when she came out.
"Who are you kidding? You're not well, the doctor told you to rest," Charles Turnah categorically refused.
"I came with them, and of course I have to go back with them. And didn't you tell me to go home and rest? I'll save you another trip, Charles,'' Audrey replied.
Now that time was pressing, Charles Turnah had no choice but to compromise.
"That's up to you then,'' Charles replied and allowed Audrey to follow them.
He drove the yacht and sent the three of them to the shore at the fastest speed. On the shore, there were already arranged cars waiting.
"I'm still busy with the opening arrangements, so I can't accompany you," he said to Audrey.
Then he wrapped his coat around her.
"I told the driver to take them to the hospital first, and then take you home," he informed Audrey.
Audrey Turnah nodded.
"If Leopold asks, explain it to him for me," she said to her brother.
In the end, Audrey Turnah didn't listen to her brother's words to go home, but followed Jerry Dank and Elizabeth Coker to the hospital.
Audrey felt a strong sense of uneasiness in her heart because Henry Dank, Jerry's father, was in a car accident.
She would rather stay in the hospital and find out about Henry Dank and Marcus Coker as soon as possible.
On the empty corridor of the hospital, Elizabeth Coker was crying so much, and the air was unusually heavy.
Jerry Dank pursed his thin lips tightly, and said nothing.
Audrey Turnah didn't even dare to look at his face.
Not far away, several middle-aged people looked panicked. They were all middle-level managers of the Dank family company.
After hearing that Henry Dank and Marcus Coker had an accident, they rushed over.
When the door of the emergency room finally opened, everyone's eyes instantly focused on the doctor.
The doctor took off his mask and shook his head.
"We tried our best, but unfortunately, there is still a patient who could not be resuscitated.
It was Marcus Coker who could not be rescued.
Elizabeth Coker grabbed the doctor emotionally, crying and begging.
"Doctor, I beg you, save my father, he is not dead, he is definitely not dead..." she cried.
The doctor sighed.
"Girl, your father has indeed passed away," the doctor said to Elizabeth with a heavy heart.
Elizabeth Coker slumped to the ground with a defeated expression, covering her face and burst into a piercing cry.
Audrey Turnah was saddened when she heard this.
She remembered that very clear nightmare she had.
In the dream, she witnessed her father's death, and she cried like this.
She silently walked to Elizabeth Coker's side, helped her up, held her hand gently, and comforted her silently.
Henry Dank had already come out of the emergency room and was transferred to the intensive care unit next door.
He was still alive, but his appearance was extremely tragic.
Through the glass, Henry Dank could be seen with multiple burns on his face, his legs were cut off from the knees below, and the blood-stained white bandages were shocking.
His legs were squeezed in the car accident and deformed so badly that doctors had to amputate them.
Jerry Dank stood quietly outside the intensive care unit, his dark eyes staring straight through the glass, looking at Henry Dank on the hospital bed.
There was no light in his eyes, and the darkness was shocking.
Audrey Turnah looked at him extremely worriedly, but in the end, there was nothing she could do.
At this time, other than a word of sympathy, what else could she persuade him with?
The middle-level managers of the Dank family's company also stood not far away, feeling sad, and some silently wiped their tears.
"Now that this has happened to President Dank, what should I do concerning the press conference tomorrow?" Someone whispered.
"What else can be done but to cancel," came a sturdy reply.
"But tomorrow's press conference is Mr. Dank's hard work. He has put in a lot of effort to get to this point. We have been preparing hard for more than half a year. If it can't be held as scheduled, the company's later development will be affected..." someone else said.
The person who spoke was the one who bowed his head and wiped his tears.
He was Jeremy Cosmos, the product manager of the Dank family company.
