Chapter 94 Leopold's Strange Behaviour

Dr. Greg couldn't say clearly what happened.

"Just now I saw him coming out of the backstage with a bruised nose and a swollen face. I chased him out and asked him what was going on, but he ignored me and drove away," he said to Audrey Turnah.

Swollen nose? Was this a fight with someone?

Audrey Turnah immediately dialed Leopold Demp's phone number, it rang, but no one answered.

Her heart sank.

For the first time in so many years, Leopold Demp didn't answer her call.

Without any hesitation, Audrey Turnah dialed her friend, Mildred's cell phone.

"Mildred, are you off work? Just now Dr. Greg said that Leopold was injured and his phone cannot be reached, can you go to the place where I live to see Leopold?'' Audrey asked pleadingly.

Mildred was a financial reporter for a magazine in Mullan City. According to the usual working hours, she was off work at this point.

But tonight was quite special. The first medical charity night event in Mullan City was being held. She and her colleagues needed to interview several business executives who came to the conference.

Mildred glanced at the time, and hesitated for a moment.

"Okay, I'll go and have a look,'' she said to Audrey Turnah.

The charity night event had just started not long ago, and there was still an hour and a half before the end.

From the hotel venue to the small apartment where Audrey Turnah lived, it took only an hour to take a taxi back and forth, and she had time to come back for the interview.

Mildred explained a few words to her colleagues, and hurriedly took a taxi to Audrey Turnah's small apartment.

She had the key to Audrey Turnah's house, but no one answered when she knocked on the door, so she just took the key and opened the door.

There was no light inside, and no one answered when she called Leopold Demp. Mildred turned on the light in confusion, and looked around, only to find Leopold Demp lying on the second bed with his clothes on, without taking off his shoes, staring at the ceiling in a daze.

"I called you for a long time, why didn't you answer?" Mildred asked immediately she saw him.

Mildred walked up to him speechlessly, only to find that his face was covered with bruises, and there were bloodstains on the corners of his forehead and mouth. She was surprised.

"Who did you fight with? You were beaten so badly?" Mildred asked.

Normally, when Leopold Demp saw Mildred, he always acted like he had a headache, and would bother her a few times for nothing, but today he didn't say a word.

"But it's just a beating, and it's fine to beat him back. How old are you, why are you hiding and crying like a child?" Mildred asked Leopold.

Although she felt that Leopold Demp was a bit pitiful, but Mildred was not forgiving. Leopold Demp always picked on her, making her dislike him to an extent, so today she had a chance to pick on him back.

Leopold Demp acted as if he didn't hear her words, his eyes were straightened, and he didn't make a sound nor movement.

It seems that being beaten was quite stimulating to him.

Mildred sighed, stopped bothering him, and called Audrey Turnah.

"Don't worry, he is here in your house, he was injured a little bit, but it's nothing serious,'' Mildred reported.

Audrey directed her on what to do to give Leopold Demp first aid because of his wounds.

''Well, okay, I'll help him deal with it,'' Mildred said to Audrey Turnah over the phone.

After hanging up the phone, Mildred followed Audrey Turnah's instructions and went to the room to find the medicine box.

"Come on, I have a lot to do, so I don't care about what happened to you. I'll just treat you," Mildred said to Leopold.

Mildred opened the medicine box, and dipped a cotton swab in disinfectant alcohol.

"Let me treat the wound with you first..." Mildred said to Leopold Demp.

Before the cotton swab touched Leopold Demp, he grabbed Mildred's wrist abruptly, turned over and sat up, and stared at her for a couple of seconds, not knowing whether he recognized her or not, then he suddenly got up and went outside.

Mildred was dumbfounded, and hurriedly chased him out.

"Leopold! Where are you going?" She asked him.

Leopold Demp had already opened the door and went out, but he didn't speak and walked quickly.

Mildred trotted all the way behind him, panting for breath.

He didn't drive or take a car, so he walked along the roadside quickly.

Heavy rain was forecast for tonight, with dark clouds in the sky.

Mildred pulled Leopold Demp back.

"Leopold, what's the matter with you? It's going to rain heavily in a while, so let's go home if there's nothing else to do!" Mildred said.

Leopold Demp acted as if he hadn't heard her, he broke free from her hand and continued walking forward.

Mildred was speechless.

So what was it that stimulated him? He was like a changed person.

Something was wrong with Leopold Demp, and Mildred didn't dare to ignore him, so she had to follow.

The rain fell suddenly, Mildred took out an umbrella from her bag, held it up with difficulty, and covered Leopold Demp.

He was too tall, and her arms ached from holding the umbrella. Seeing the rain was getting heavier and heavier, she tried to persuade him.

"Leopold, let's go back, okay?" Mildred asked politely.

She still had an interview task!

As usual, Leopold Demp didn't respond, just walked along the road without stopping.

Mildred had no choice but to call her colleagues.

"I might be back later, those guests, can you keep an eye on them for me?" She asked them politely concerning the charity event.

"How can I keep an eye on it for you? Each of us have guests to interview. By the way, why did you go?" Her colleague asked her back.
