Chapter Twenty-one
"Psst, hey, wake up!" William has been trying to wake up Theodore for the past five minutes without waking up Kane. Last time he woke up Kane, Goliath thought they were in trouble and nearly burnt down the castle. William learned his lesson.
"Theo wake the fuck up! We found one of Trixies flip flops!" William whispered yelled.
*Wake up! Did you hear that!* Goliath yelled at Kane. *They found something that belonged to Trixie! Get up you lazy asshole!* Goliath screamed.
Even in his deep slumber Kane could hear his beast yelling at him. Kanes eyes shot open and made contact with Williams now pale face.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to wake you!" William backed up a few feet.
"Where?" It was all Kane had to say. He tried to get up but his body was still a little wobbly.
"About 12 miles from here. We called for Demy and he took off. He didn't catch a scent but I figured it was worth a shot having him search as well. He can cover twice as much land than us. Trixie is tiny, she could have fallen and gotten stuck or she might just be good at hiding but so is Demy so he'll find her since we're failing you." William nearly whispered that last part. He was ashamed of himself and his team for not being able to find their missing queen. "I honestly thought we would have found her by now. She's been out there alone for two days now.."
Kane just sighed. "I don't blame you or your men for not finding her. It's my fault she's gone. She thought she saw something that didn't happen. I want you to take me to where you found the flip flop." Kane managed to stand on his feet. *Just take slow steps. We overdid ourselves and we didn't get a full rest.* Goliath mentioned.
"Of course but should we wake up Theo?" William motioned to the sleeping log of a man.
"No. He needs his rest. He's been through a lot." Kane stared down at his brother. "Lets go."
Willaim led Kane down the path where they found Trixies flip flop. Kane didn't say anything. He just stood there, scanning the area around him. He had a death grip on her little pink flip flop. Goliath was also watching, making sure they don't miss a single thing.
*Its been two days, Kane.. I miss her so much..* Goliath practically whimpered.
*I know, buddy. I know.* Kane didn't even have to say how much he missed and needed Trixie. Goliath could feel his feelings and hear his thoughts. *We just need to find her. It'll all work out.*
"Which way did Demy take off towards?" Kane asked his men. They all pointed straight ahead. "This is about 12 miles out so another 15 or so and she'll hit the No Mans Land.." Panic was starting to set it.
No Man Lands wasn't somewhere for some one like Trixie to be. Those creatures probably reach about 8 feet tall and are hairy as wolves with razor sharp teeth and feverish hunger for fresh meat. Trixie would be the perfect meal for them.
"We don't know how long ago she lost this. She could be closer to that border than we think!" Kane took off in a direction that was parallel to Demys. Goliath was having a full blown panic attack. He kept rambling nonsense into their mind. *If she crosses that border..* Goliath couldn't even finish, shaking his head to try to remove the thoughts.
*Just keep trying to link her. I know we haven't marked her but we can link anyone once we push through that wall. Just keep trying, Goliath. Don't worry about apologizing. Just warn about the border.* Kane rushed his words while speeding through the forest. He caught onto Demys scent so he decided to head off a bit so widen the search.
*I'm on it! You should warn Demy about the border!* You couldn't miss the concern in Goliaths voice.
*He already knows.* Kane reassured him.
Kane and Goliath kept their eyes and ears on full alert. Wanting for the tiniest of noises to help them. They didn't have to wait much longer when they heard Demys howl echo through the forest.

I can't believe I actually slept so for long! The sun was high in the sky by the time I woke up. I managed to climb down the tree but lost my footing and fell. It hurt like a bitch but I managed to get up and start my way towards the border.
The sky was getting darker now. *I should be getting closer now.* Trixie thought to herself.
I'm not sure when I lost my flip flop. I guess I'm too focused on the pain in my back to have noticed. Well that was until I heard Jake and some random men yelling my name. They didn't sound to close, the wind was definitely carrying their voices. They must have found my flip flop. Hearing my name sent me into a dead sprint. *They're going to make me go back. They don't care about the pain I'd be in seeing my own mate with another woman. I can't and I won't do it!* Trixie ignored the pain in her back and kept running.
*There's the border! I can see it!* Trixie stopped about 200 feet from the border, it was dark and extremely thick. *This isn't what the Sapphire Packs border looks like. Did I go the wrong way?* Trixie was lost and confused in her own thoughts. She snapped out of them when she heard an ear piercing howl.
Demy was now directly between her and her only route of escape. He didn't look too happy either. Trixie went to step forward and Demy mirrored her step. Every move she made, he made. *Maybe I ca..* Trixie was ripped from her thoughts when two very strong and very big arms wrapped around her, making her freeze on the spot. She would have screamed if it wasn't for the familiar fiery sparks she felt shoot throughout her body.
"Baby.." Kane mumbled while nuzzling his nose in her neck. "We missed you so much... please don't leave us again." Kane had a whole speech planned out, apologizing, explaining everything but the second he saw Trixie, all thought process went out the window.
As if an alarm was going off in her mind, Trixie tried to pull away. "Let go of me!" Trixie was squirming around but Kane had a death grip on her. "I'm not your baby! You sure didn't miss me while you were with that woman!" Trixie screamed at them. She didn't even notice all the demon warriors standing around. Even Theodore was there. Demys howl had woken him up.
"First, you are *MINE!* Second, I'll show you how much I missed you. Third, I wasn't with another woman. That slut was working with Max to get you away from me. You only saw from the outside. I wasn't staring at her. Goliath and I were disgusted that she was even near us and when she came around the desk, I had to keep Goliath from slaughtering her. We did nothing wrong and most definitely did *NOT* betray you." Kane growled out, he managed to keep his voice from raising. He didn't want to upset her any further.
Trixie was a bit shocked. "Max was plotting against us?" Trixie turned around and was met with those gorgeous dark brown eyes she'd fallen in love with. "Why would he do that?"
"Because he wanted you to himself. He was going to just kidnap you but he changed his mind at the last minute and I don't know why. He's in the hospitals ICU right now. And that whore is locked in the cells." Kane tightened his grip on Trixie, shoving his nose in the crook of her neck, inhaling her sweet scent. He started peppering light kisses up and down her neck. Earning himself a soft moan from Trixie. "You smell like everything sweet baby, you know that?" Adding kisses between his words. "Now, it's time for you to come home." Kane added with a smile.
Trixie was lost in the sparks that Kane was causing and only registered what was happening when she felt herself being thrown over his shoulder. Trixie let out a painful scream which caused Kane to immediately set her down.
"What! What's wrong! I didn't hurt you, did I??" Kane was already panicking, Goliath was of no help on the matter.
"No.. I fell from a tree and landed on my back.. It still hurts.." Trixie tried to hold back her tears.
"Baby.. Why didn't you tell me? I wouldn't have done that!" Kane whispered to his mate. "Here, hold onto me, baby. Close your eyes and don't open them until I say so, okay?" Kane instructed her and Trixie nodded her head in return. Kane wasted no time in blinking to the hospital wing located in the castle.
"Open your eyes, my love." Trixie did as Kane said and gasped when she realized she was no longer by the border. "It's going to be okay." Kane whispered in her ear and placed a soft kiss on her lips. He wanted more but now was not the time for that.
After the doctor checked on Trixie, Kane was relieved that she didn't break or fractured any bones. Her back was just severely bruised.
"Let's go home, my queen."
