Chapter Forty-three

"Can I use your phone?" Trixie tried to give her best puppy dog look.

"Trixie, you've been asking me that every damn day for the past two weeks now and I keep giving you the same answer." Thomas groaned.

"Please, I need to hear his voice. He needs to know I'm okay.." Trixie grabbed his arm, pleading with tears streaming down her face.

"Okay.." Thomas gave a heavy sigh. "You have to be quiet though." Thomas whispered while quietly shutting the bedroom door. "Xander is out having a meeting with the Black Coven.." Thomas froze.

"Black Coven?" Trixie raised an eyebrow.

"You didn't hear that." Thomas gave her a glare.

"Whatever. Give me your phone." Trixie stuck out her hand for his phone. Thomas reluctantly handed it over.

The phone kept ringing what felt like forever until a very tired but familiar voice answered. "Hello?"

"Theo?? Trixie croaked out.

"TRIXIE?!?!" Theodore nearly screamed.

"I'm here.. why are you answering Kanes phone? Where is he?" Trixie whispered with tears running down her face.

Trixie could hear noises in the background and then it was quiet for a few seconds. "Baby..?" Kanes voice came out with so much uncertainty.

"Kane!" Trixie cried out.

"Trixie!! Where are you?? Are you hurt?? Is our pup okay?? Baby.. please tell me anything!" Kane stressed. "We're losing our minds over here, baby."

"His name is Xander. I don't know where I am.. I'm not hurt. They are actually taking care of me.." Trixie paused. "He's at a meeting with the Black Coven." Trixie rushed out before Thomas could snatch the phone away.

"Dammit, Trixie!" Thomas growled. "I'm trying to keep you safe here!"

Trixie just scoffed. "Then take me home! Xander isn't here! He can't stop you."

"No but he will hunt us both down and I doubt your mate will allow me to stay in the kingdom for protection since I helped kidnap you." Thomas groaned, pulling his hair.

Trixie just shrugged her shoulders, rubbing her little bump. "You've been nothing but helpful. You convinced Xander not to kill my baby but hopefully my mate comes way, way before that.." Trixie slumped over.

"Trixie.." Thomas felt helpless.

"I want to take a nap.. please go.." Trixie said while cuddling up in the bed.

Thomas just turned around and quietly left. After he closed the door, he pulled out his phone and sent a quick text. "I'll try my queen.."

"What did she say?? Does she know where she is?? Is she hurt??" Theodore questioned Kane.

"She's okay and then said something about Xander being at a meeting with the Black Coven.." Kane frowned. "I've never heard of that coven.. have you?"

"Let's ask, Gabriel and the elders, maybe? They have to know something." Theodore suggested.

Both men made their way through the destroyed and charred castle. Kane and Goliath have completely ripped the castle apart. The only time they are calm is when Theodore manages to get them to fall asleep.

Kane kept his promise when he said he was going to start showing everyone how merciless he really is. He's interrogated every single soul in the kingdoms territory. If people weren't scared of him then, they definitely were now, considering he's slaughtered over 15 men and women. After tapping into their minds and finding out they were plotting against their kingdom, some even Xander had managed to corrupt.

Gabriel was completely shocked when he found out that so many of his people were against them. He let Kane and Goliath go wild, not that he really had a choice. Everyone was so terrified, that they wouldn't even look at Kane when passing by.

"Theo.." Kane whispered to his brother while they made their way towards Gabriels office. "I need her.."

"I know. We will find her. We will." Theodore brought Kane into his arms for a tight hug. "Kane, it'll be okay."

"It's been two weeks, Theo!" Kane went to keep ranting but his phone beeped. Kane pulled it out but frowned.

"What is it?" Theodore asked, peeking over his shoulder.

"The number she called from.. it texted me.. '3 days' ..what the fuck does that mean?!?!" Kane growled. "3 days until what?!?"

Theodore just frowned. "Maybe 3 days until she can call you again or 3 days until Xander comes back?" Theodore ran a hand through his hair. Both men continued walking. "Wait! Maybe she's 3 days away! We should search for Black Coven that's 3 days away."

"You think so?" Kane asked with a raised eyebrow.

"It's not going to hurt to try." Theodore said reassuringly. Kane just nodded.

Both men made it to Gabriels office and started to explain everything that just happened.

"Black Coven? Are you sure that's what she said?" Gabriel asked, a bit worried.

"What is it?" Theodore asked.

"Well it's exactly what it's called. A coven full of witches and warlocks who lost their light and now study black magic.. if Xander is visiting them.. it can't be anything good.." Gabriel warned them.

"Their magic won't affect us. So where is this coven?" Kane asked.

"Kane.." Gabriel was going to try to convince him not go there but Kane wasn't having it.

"WHERE." Kane demanded.

"Head east, stay in the forest, you'll find it, it's maybe a three day drive.. less if you fly there.." Gabriel sighed.

"I'm not going to the coven. I'll send some men there to *cleanse* it but I'll be searching around that area for my mate and I won't be leaving until I find her." Kane stated.

Gabriel nodded in understanding. The men just sat there in silence for a few minutes before Gabriel broke it. "How is Jake doing?"

"He's good. He'll have a scar. William won't leave his side, which is good because I'm not completely sane enough to constantly be there." Kane wanted to be there for Jake but he just couldn't focus on anything. Jake was constantly reassuring him that he understood but that didn't stop Kane from feeling guilty.

"Okay, lets go get our chipmunks back, BB." Theodore stood up and reached his hand out to Kane.

*Lets go get our babies.* Goliath chimed in.

"You've been taking care of me for two weeks, William. You need to take care of yourself. Go check on Kane and Theo." Jake hissed. He was very thankful for his boys but they were driving him crazy, especially William.

"I'm not going anywhere! If I'm not in here with you, my mind goes to Reese and how I couldn't protect him. Please don't kick me out.." William begged.

"William.." Jake stopped when Kane and Theodore walked in. "Hey.."

"We have a lead on where they might be.." Theodore explained.

"Finally!! Lets go!" Jake tried to get up but William gently pushed him back down.

"Not you." Kane spoke with a slight warning in his tone.

"All of this is my fault! You have to let me help! I couldn't protect her, I failed you.." Jake protested.

"I don't blame you and I never did. You had a fucking angelic blade stabbed into your fucking heart! You're lucky you didn't die the second it pierced your flesh with the symbols they used!" Kane growled out. "So shut the fuck up and lay your ass back down. I'll send Dash in to care for you while we are gone." Kane turned around and left, leaving no room for arguments.

"Who the hell is Dash?" Jake asked, folding his arms, pouting.

"A new warrior he has taken an interest in." Theodore answered while following after Kane.

"You'll be okay?" William asked Jake.

"Well I'm stuck here so I guess so." Jake huffed.

William just smiled and followed suit after the other two.

Jake just leaned back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. "This is my life now." Jake said out loud with a heavy sigh.

Jake was brought from his thoughts when he heard a loud growl from the doorway.

Jake snapped his head towards the door. "Uhh, you are?"

"Mate." The man growled possessively.

Jake just started chuckling. "I don't think so, buddy." Jake shook his head.

The man made his way towards the end of the bed, he took his shirt off and started to crawl up the bed towards Jake.

Jake just laid there and all he could do was swallow hard as he watched the strange man crawl his way towards him.

"I already have a mate." Jake whispered out when the man was hovering above his head. "She died a while ago but you get my point. We don't get second chance mates."

"Well looks like *you* do." He smirked. "My name is Dash, honey bee." Dash leaned down and gave a small peck on Jakes nose with a big smile.

Jake frowned. "Honey bee isn't going to be a thing."

Dash just grinned. "Mhm." Dash looked down at Jake frowned. "Let me see your wound."

"No! Leave me alone, crazy!" Jake tried to push Dash away. "I'm perfectly fine!"
