Chapter Thirty-five
"LET ME OUT OF THIS CAR!!" Trixie has been screaming and banging on the car door for 15 minutes now. When they arrived at Red Wood, everyone unloaded from the car but Kane locked Trixie in the car with four guards at each door. "This isn't fair!" Trixie cried out.
"You're an asshole." Theodore glared at Kane. "She just wants to help."
"Yeah, well it's not safe. She wanted to come, she's here. I'll be damned if I let something happen to her under my watch. So drop it." Kane warned him. "We have more important things to worry about."
"More important than your mate?" Theodore raised an eyebrow at Kane.
"No. I didn't say.." Kane went to argue back.
"You just did." Theodore cut him off and walked away.
*She's crying..* Goliath whimpered.
*She's crying?* Kane whipped around to look back at the car. He no longer heard Trixie screaming to be let out, it was silent. Kane started to march towards the car, guilt eating him alive but Gabriel stopped him.
"Kane! Over here!" Gabriel shouted.
Kane hesitated for a second. *Go to mate!* Goliath growled.
*She'll be okay. She's safe. That's all that matters, Goliath. She's safe.* Kane tried to reasure his beast and turned to walk towards Gabriel. Goliath didn't say anything after that.
"Have our men found anything or anyone in the woods? Any survivors? Or rogues?" Kane questioned Gabriel.
"Nothing yet but I want you to meet Alpha Kurt and his son, James."Gabriel motioned towards the two men on the ground. "This is Kurt, he was stabbed a few times with silver so he isn't very mobile right now. And this is James, his son." Gabriel introduced the men to each other.
Alpha Kurt took some shaky breaths. "It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Kane. Thank you for coming here and helping us." Kurt tried to lift his hand out to shake Kanes but could barely do so.
"Oh, don't thank me yet, *Alpha* Kurt." Kane stared down at the weak man laying on the ground.
"*Kane.*" Gabriel said in a warning tone. Making Kurt and James look at each other with confusion.
Kane being Kane, ignored Gabriel. "I can't help but wonder if all of this is karma, *Alpha* Kurt." Kane spoke up while motioning to all the destruction around them.
"Karma for what?" James asked.
"You'll find out soon enough." Kane sneered. "It's a real shame that all these innocent souls had to pay the price for your actions and to think that your pack would have quadrupled in numbers and strength if you wouldn't have turned your back on an innocent eight year old." Kane said with a heavy sigh and shake of his head.
Kurt and James once again looked more confused than ever but didn't say anything after that.
Before Gabriel could express his anger towards Kane, a warrior came running towards them. "My kings! We found two survivors and a rogue!"
Kane and Gabriel both snapped their heads in the direction of the warriors leading the two survivors.
Terrance who was helping keep an eye on the three pups that survived, made his way over to the group. "Where is the rogue?" He asked. The warrior turned to look at him with a scowl.
"I don't answer to you." The warrior growled out.
Terrance was not the same man from ten years ago. Much like Kane and Goliath, he didn't accept anything less than respect for himself. Kane saw his eyes flicker to a fiery red. As much as he would love to see what Trixies old man could do, now was not the right time.
"Where is the rogue." Kane demanded, getting the warriors attention.
"They should be on their way." The warrior bowed to the two kings.
The group of men got distracted by the man and woman survivor crying out and running towards the pups. They engulfed one of the pups in a huge hug. After a few moments the woman snatched up the other two and they all just stayed in each others embrace for a long time.
"That's the Perch family. The one pup is theirs, the other two are just family friends." James spoke up, watching the small family reunion. His own sorrow filling his heart. They lost their entire pack. What were they going to do now?
Theodore and Tatum came marching towards Kane with a terrified young rogue in his arms. "Kane, here's that *rogue.*" But before Kane could even say a word, there was an ear piercing growl from behind them.
"Let. Go. Of. Him." Terrance spat out through gritted teeth.
"Excuse me?" Theodore took a threatening step towards him while throwing the rogue on the ground. Tatum being the sweetheart he is, managed to catch the young pup before he hit the grown. He threw an angry frown towards Theodore but he wasn't even paying attention.
"Did I stutter?" Terrance growled out.
"Alright mother fucker. Lets go!" Theodore started to undress himself. He was ready to kick Terrances ass.
Kane on the other hand just started laughing, making the two men turn and look at him. "What?" They both said in unison.
"You two are going to fight each other over a fucking rogue??" Kane growled.
Theodore just frowned but stepped over towards Kane and positioned himself slightly behind him. "I found the rogue hiding in a small cave. He hasn't said a word." Theodore spoke.
Terrance on the other hand, made his way over to the rogue and squated next him. "Reese?" Terrance spoke softly.
Reese has kept his head down, hoping that the two kings would show mercy on him, even though he was completely innocent. Once he heard Terrances voice, his head snapped up and was met with those green eyes that he missed so much. "Dad?!?" Reese let out a gasp and threw himself at Terrance, who returned the hug with a strong grip.
Theodore and Kane shared a shocked look with each other before meeting Gabriels eyes. Gabriel had an equal amount of shock written on his face.
"What the fuck is going on??" Alpha Kurt managed to sit up, leaning on his elbow. Pure shock took him while his face paled.
"Long time, no see *best* friend." Terrance stared back with so much hatred.
"T-Terrance..?" Kurt couldn't believe his eyes. "I thought you were dead! We searched everywhere for you!"
"Not everywhere apparently." Theodore sneered at him.
"Terrance, I.."
"Enough!" Kane growled. "We're not here for some reunion bullshit." Kane spat. "Terrance, who the fuck is this! Why are you trying to protect a fucking rogue who attacked one of the packs and killed innocent lives?" Kane demanded, letting his aura spill off him if suffocating waves. Goliath was pissed because Kane locked Trixie in the car, he had to meet Kurt, and now Terrance is protecting the enemy? Goliath has had his fill with all the bullshit.
"I didn't attack anyone sir! I swear! Our alpha sent us to attack, I didn't! I refused to attack innocent people! I've never harmed anyone in my entire life! So I ran and hid. If my alpha knew I ran away, he would kill me!" Reese confessed without hesitation.
*He's unfortunately telling the truth.* Theodore mindlinked Kane.
*I know..* Kane sighed back.
*Is he really Terrances son?* Theodore asked back.
Kane didn't respond but instead asked the question himself. "Terrance, is this really your son?" Kane immediately started to worry about Trixie. How would Trixie handle this new information?
"He's not my blood son. He just turned 18. I would have had to cheat on my mate in order to have him and we both know that's impossible for some one of my kind to do so. When the rogues attacked us ten years ago, they always sent someone to feed me and shit. It was Reese. Reese lost his parents in a battle years prior to that. I only saw their leader once and that was when he told me my mate and daughter died. After that, he sent a child to bring me food and such, again that was Reese. It didn't take long for me to notice the abuse that Reese was going through, I just wanted to protect him but I couldn't. I was weak. I grew attached. We bonded and would talk about all things, even Trixie and Tracie. He became like a son to me and when they sold me, I never saw him again until now." Terrance explained.
"After they sold you, they left me to defend for myself." Reese shrugged. "At least the abuse stopped." Reese smiled up at Terrance, hugging him tighter.
"Why is it since you've been here, the craziest shit has happened?" Gabriel growled out, rubbing his hands over his face. "Alright! Everyone load up! We leave in 15!" Gabriel shouted through the mindlink.
*Can we go to mate, now?* Goliath begged.
*I'm sorry, G. We're going.* Kane made his way to their car. When he opened the door he was met with a scene that broke his heart. Trixie was curled up against the farthest door, with little hiccups escaping her.
"Baby.." Kane went to reach for her but Trixie slapped his hand away.
"D-don't t-touch m-me!" Trixie whimpered in between hiccups.
"Baby, please! I'm sorry!" Kane begged.
"L-leave m-me al-alone!" Trixie growled at him when he tried to reach for her again.
Theodore and Tatum just sat in the front seat awkwardly. Theodore didn't like seeing Trixie cry but also knew not to get involved when it came to Kane and his mate.
"Princess, I did it for your own safety! Something could have happened!" Kane tried reasoning.
Trixie cleared her throat and spoke calmly. "Stop talking to me and don't touch me." Trixie glared at Kane. "Theodore, when we get back, drop me off at my little garage. I'll be staying there from now on."
Theodores eyes went wide. *You fucked up! Wait until mom asks why her little treasure didn't come home with us!* Theodore yelled at Kane through their mindlink.
Kane and Goliath let out a loud, sorrow filled whine.
