Chapter Twenty-six

"Kane, wait!" Theodore grabbed a hold of his arm. "Look."

I looked down to see my mates red flushed skin slowly turning back into her creamy white color. "She doesn't seem to be getting warmer either..." Kane and Theodore just got through the castle gate when Theodore realized the changes in Trixie.

"What is going on?" Theodore was puzzled. "I've been alive for far to long Kane and I've never seen anything like this."

Kane slowly kneeled and layed Trixie down. His hands never left her body, making sure her temperature doesn't change. "Go get Dr. Lee. She might be able to tell us something!" Kane didn't understand how a magical night and morning could turn into this. He was panicking and Goliath wasn't helping at all.

Theodore blinked away and was back before Kane could even notice his leave. "She's grabbing some supplies and she's on her way." Theodore explained. Kane just nodded.

"Mr. Kane! Mr. Theodore!" Dr. Lee came running out of the castle with her medical bag and a nurse. "Okay, what has happened?" Dr. Lee started checking Trixies vitals and making sure she didn't have any wounds.

Kane explained all the previous events that lead up to this moment. Leaving Dr. Lee dumbstruck. "Mr. Kane, if Ms. Trixie didn't show any symptoms shortly after marking her then I don't know why she would be having symptoms now. I've never seen late symptoms with any species before." Dr. Lee tried to understand.

"Can.. can you *check* her?" Kane whispered low enough where no one could hear him but Dr. Lee.

Dr. Lee just stared at him wide eyed for a split second before regaining her composure. "Mr. Kane, I just did a full body inspe.."

"Enough!" Kane yelled. "Leave, now!" Kane turned and looked at the nurse. "I SAID NOW!" The nurse didn't waste another second and scurried back into the castle. "Now, *check* her." Kane commanded.

"Mr. Kane, I.." Dr. Lee tried to speak but Kane wasn't having any of it.

"I know what you are, Dr. Lee and if you don't want me to tell Gabriel or well anyone else for that matter, I suggest you fucking do what I fucking ask." Kane gave her a look that would make a grown man piss himself. "I don't have a problem with your kind and you're a damn good doctor because of what you are. But tell me, would Gabriel be okay with that? I mean your kind helped wipe out half the population of lycans. And now you're his family's personal doctor? I can tell you are a good person with an innocent soul. You would never harm his pups or anyone for that matter but do you really think Gabriel will listen to anyone when it comes to his family's safety?" Kane growled out.

"You're a fucking elf?!?!" Theodore whispered yelled. "Get away from my queen!" Theodore went to pull Trixie back but Kane let out a warning growl, making Theodore stop in his tracks.

"You're wasting my fucking time. Check her now." Kane was letting Goliath come through and if he managed to get ahold of Dr. Lee, she wouldn't last two seconds.

"Okay, okay." Dr. Lee sighed and gently put one hand on Trixies forehead and placed the other on her stomach. "You'll need to be quiet. I need silence. You'll know when I'm done." Dr. Lee explained.

Elves used to hold the majority of the supernatural population hundreds of years ago. Every elf has a power, they could be a healer, have super speed or be able to control water. They're like demons in that sense. Demons hold all sorts of power. Especially Kane. But their *king* was drunk with power and wanted to cleanse the earth from any species that wasn't his own and he acted on it. He would send his troops to slaughter innocent people, innocent clans, innocent packs, anything that wasn't elfish. It didn't take long for the Elder council to hear what he was doing. After the *king* nearly wiped out half the lycan population, they dethroned him. Of course that didn't settle well with him and he tried to end the council but one very brave and strong lycan ended his pathetic existence. After he saved the kingdom, the elder council named him king. King Lucas held the crown for over two hundred years before finding his mate and having his own pup. He stepped down and handed over his crown to his son, Gabriel.

*I hope she can tell us what's wrong with our baby..* Goliath whimpered.

*Me too G, me too.* Kane kept his eyes on Trixie and making sure Dr. Lee wasn't trying anything stupid.

Just as Kane was losing his patience and was going to pull Dr. Lee out from wherever she was, Dr. Lee let out a loud gasp.

"Move her away from the castle now!!" Dr. Lee jolted up and started to lift Trixie up.

"What the fuck is going on!" Kane growled out. Grabbing a hold of his mate and keeping her locked safely in his arms.

"She's shifting and she needs to be in that open field! The power that is going to come from her will burn this place to the ground! Please, go to that field!" Dr. Lee was stressing.

Kane didn't really hesitate. As long as Trixie was in his arms, no one could harm her. So he headed over to the open field that was a good distance away from the castle.

"Shifting? She's human, right? What could she possibly be shifting into?" Theodore asked. He didn't trust Dr. Lee one bit now.

"You'll see." Dr. Lee didn't hide the excitement in her voice. Earning a scowl from Kane.

Just as Kane laid Trixie down in the middle of the field, she let out the most pain filled, ear piercing scream known to man.

Kane grabbed her face to make her look at him. "Baby, it's okay! I'm right here! You have to let the pain take over, don't try to fight it. Let it happen. Trust me, okay?"

"Mr Kane, I wouldn't stand to close!" Dr. Lee tried to warn him.

"SILENCE!" Kane let out another warning growl. "We're mates for fucks sake. Whatever she shifts into, she won't harm me!" Kane turned back to look down at Trixie and was met with glowing, fiery, red eyes. Kane just stared at her and his worried expression turned into the wildest of grins.

"There you are." Kane just grinned down at Trixie.

"What.. what's ha-happening t-to me?" Trixe said through gritted teeth. "I f-feel like I-I'm on f-fire!"

"Shhh baby. Just let it take over, just relax." Kane started to massage her arms. "Baby, relax please. It'll be a lot easier."

Trixie tried to relax but the burning sensation only got stronger. Kane could feel her body heating up but there was nothing he could do about it. After about five minutes of the two of them staring into each others eyes and Trixie trying to relax, she let out another pain filled scream, then everything went black for her.

Theodore was standing a good distance away with Dr. Lee when the spot where Kane and Trixie burst into red, hot flames. The fire was everywhere. You couldn't see anything. Every blade of grass and bush it touched, burned to ash within seconds.

Theodore wanted so badly to run to them but Dr. Lee grabbed his arm. "They're okay." She reassured him. Theodore did walk a bit closer but stopped when he felt the heat from the fire. It started to burn just as hot as hells fire and just when Theodore thought things couldn't get any weirder. He watched as the red fire turned into a black smokey fire. It looked just like Kanes flame. Theodore stepped forward and slowly put his hand into a flame, it had a burning sensation but it didn't leave a mark. *Strange.* He thought to himself.

The fire kept burning for a few minutes and by the time it started to pull back, everyone from inside the castle was outside watching. Gabriel and his men just stood there with shocked faces, not knowing what the fuck was happening. Tatum pushed through the crowd and his blue orbs instinctively landed on Theodore and he wasted no time in running towards him, engulfing him in a tight hug. "What happened?" Tatum whispered, not hiding the worry in his voice.

"I'm not sure.." Theodore replied, turning back towards the fire just in time to see it fully disappear, leaving Kane and Trixie in the middle of the burnt field with a strange man.

Trixie let out another painful scream and that was when I watched fire explode from her body, surrounding both of us. The painful expression on her face seemed to go away, now she looked relieved. She still looked beautiful even when her entire body was on fire.

*I think she passed out.* Goliath whispered to me.

*What do we do?* I asked.

*I don't know. I had no idea our baby girl was phoenix. I'm a bit shocked to be honest.* Goliath gave a small smile.

*It doesn't matter what she is. She's ours. Her species doesn't change shit!* I growled back at him.

*Hold up! I'm not saying shit! I know she's ours and I'd rather die than be without her. I'm just shocked, asshole.* Goliath returned the growl.

Kane went to snap back but his petty little argument was interrupted by an unfamiliar voice. "Mark her."

Kane immediately grabbed Trixie and pulled her close. "Who the fuck are you!" Kane snarled, showing his canines, shocking the man in front of him.

"You're the Eternal King?" The man spoke.

"WHO. ARE. YOU." Kane gritted out. *WAIT! How is he not burning to ash right now?? HE IS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO US IN THIS FIRE!* Goliath screamed out. Kane just stared at the man, not taking his eyes off him.

"My name is Terrance and that girl there is my daughter. Now mark her." He said with a warning tone.

Kanes eyes only widened for a second but looked back down at his mate. He leaned his head into her neck and sank his canines into her mark. Kane noticed how her body instantly started to cool down, the red flames turning into his black smokey one. The flames started to retreat back but Trixie remained unconscious.

"She'll wake up after her phoenix rests some. She has one more phase and when she fully shifts, you'll need to mark her in that form as well." Terrance spoke while taking a seat next to them. "You'll want to set up some sort of privacy, my king." Terrance motioned towards the nosy crowd.

Kane didn't take his eyes off his mate but mindlinked Theo and gave him instructions to set everything up.

"How long will this take?" Kane asked the man named Terrance.

"However long she needs."
