Part Two: Ch. 3
After school was over, Vincent wasted no time in running home. He spent all day trying to convince Lennon to be friends with him but to his dissatisfaction and to Axes' complete annoyance, Lennon kept refusing. Vincent decided to leave Lennon alone for now and figured he would go and harass his father about this.
"Dad!" Vincent shouted the second he entered the castle. Knowing that his father was most likely in his office, he headed straight towards it.
Vincent didn't bother knocking on the office door and walked right in but immediately regretted his decision. "Dad, can I.. oh fuck!" Vincent slammed the door shut. Vincent turned around to leave but slammed into someone.
"Vinny, what's wrong?" Terrances' voice echoed in his ears.
Vincent just stared at his grandfather and slowly backed up, hitting the wall behind him with a thud. Vincent gently slid down the wall and just sat there, now staring at the wall across from him.
Terrance frowned. "Vincent, what's wrong?" He asked again.
"I.. saw.. them.." Vincent whispered slowly.
Terrance looked over at the door and his eyes widened a bit in realization. He let out a soft chuckle. "You're not the only one.." Terrance sat down next to Vincent.
"You.. you have seen them..?" Vincent asked, disbelief covering his face.
"Yeah.. it was before you were born. Your mother was shifting, she was in between shifts when I took off and went to go stalk your uncle Jake because I felt the bond and when I came back.. your dad was.." Terrance shook his head at the thought. "You'll be okay. It's shocking at first and the first couple of times you see your parents, it'll be awkward but it'll fade away." Terrance gave him a reassuring smile and wrapped his arm around Vincents' shoulder.
Before Vincent could reply, the door to his fathers office opened, revealing a smug looking Kane.
Kane looked back and forth between the two and smirked. "Exchanging stories?"
Terrance rolled his eyes. "Give it a rest already. It's been eighteen years.."
"You're the one that lets it bother you." Kane shrugged. He turned his attention to Vincent. "What's going on, Vin?" Kane motioned towards his office.
"I'm not going in there!!" Vincent jumped to his feet, ready to make a run for it.
"Calm down." Kane rolled his eyes. "I blinked your mother to our room so she can rest. It doesn't smell like sex either, I know that's what you think."
Vincent gently glared at his father and slowly walked into his office. "I need to ask you something.." Vincent spoke after realizing the room was 'safe.'
"Ask away, baby." Kane smiled gently while sitting in his chair behind his desk.
"How did you know mom was your mate when you first met her?" Vincent asked, taking Kane by surprise.
"Well, I felt everything. The sparks, the pull, her scent, the air shifted, it suddenly became warm.. Your mother immediately became my everything.. I could feel your mother before I even found her.. I felt when she was born and when she came of age to find her mate. I just wish I could have felt all of the abuse she went through because I would have put a stop to it all." Kane sighed. "Vincent.. I don't have a direct answer for you.. everyones experience is different. Some will say they only felt the pull or could smell them.. you'll only feel 100 percent complete after you mark and mate with them." Kane tried to explain.
"I get that.. but what if you don't feel the pull or anything but your beast is extremely intrigued by someone?" Vincent asked.
"Intrigued? How so?" Kane questioned.
"I don't know.. Axe sensed him before I even saw him, I only saw him because he caught Axes' attention." Vincent explained.
A huge grin broke out on Kanes face. "Son.. I think you may have found your mate!"
Vincent frowned. "I don't feel the pull though.."
"Like I said, everyones experience is different. No one and I mean no one has ever caught Axes' attention. So the fact that you say he is intrigued by someone, says it all." Kane reasoned.
"And Axe won't tell me what the hell is going on! I tried to befriend Lennon but he kept refusing.. Something has happened to him, I can feel it. He's completely closed off.. I don't like it." Vincent mumbled that last part.
"Lennon? Is he a wolf?" Kane asked.
"Human.. I think.." Vincent glanced up at his father, nervous for his reaction.
"You think?" Kane chuckled. "Okay then. Well don't give up on becoming his friend.. he's definitely your mate if he has Axe at attention." Kane smiled. "Also I can sense your annoyance with Axe.. don't be.. He'll come to you when the time is right, he's figuring it all out just like you, baby." Kane stood up from his chair and walked over to Vincent, placing a fatherly kiss to his temple.
"Where are you going?!" Vincent stood to his feet as well.
"I'm going to go cuddle with your mother. We normally cuddle after fuc.. 'loving' each other but clearly you needed me." Kane glanced over at him with a serious look. "Vincent.. you know how much you mean to me right?"
"I know, dad.. I know.." Vincent gave him a soft smile.
"Good." Kane nodded and disappeared within a blink of an eye.
~ ~ ~
Vincent was making his way to his room when he noticed KJ was in the living room.
"What are you doing here?" Vincent asked, plopping himself down on the seat next to KJ.
"I was invited over for the tea party?" KJ furrowed his brows. "Did you not check your phone?"
Vincent frowned and pulled his phone out. Sure enough there was a voice message from Emily inviting him to Isabellas tea party. "Who all did they invite?"
"Isabella invited you, KJ, Todd, Dave and Macy." Emily chirped from behind them.
KJ immediately groaned. "Not Macy! She's so annoying!"
"She's your little sister!" Emily growled at him.
"And she's annoying! I don't ever remember being that annoying at sixteen!" KJ frowned.
"Oh, trust me. You all were!" Emily snarled. "She's a sweetheart. Isabella absolutely loves her and plus she's already here. She's helping Issy get dressed. End of story."
"Your cousin is mean as hell." KJ whispered to Vincent. "Or is she your aunt? That shit confuses me."
"Legally or by law, she's my aunt. My grandpa and Jake adopted her when she was five, we were almost three I think?" Vincent answered. "But anyways, so yeah she's my aunt but we're so close in age, we call each other cousins. Plus Jake isn't my blood uncle so there's no room for argument when it comes down to it on that. My mom loves having a sister and brother though." Vincent smiled over at Emily who was setting up the small pink little table.
"Oh right.. I forgot about Reese." KJ chuckled while shaking his head.
Vincent just rolled his eyes. "Whatever dude."
It didn't take long for Todd to show up but Dave was late as usual.
"Always waiting on you, cousin." KJ teased.
"Not my fault your dumbass guards don't let me just waltz in here." Dave groaned.
"Watch your language." KJ frowned.
"What? Issy isn't even in here yet!" Dave whispered yelled.
"I don't care. She could still hear you." KJ growled lowly at him.
Vincent watched both of them bicker back and forth. He couldn't help feel something was off with KJ.
"Just let it go, Dave." Todd joined in, trying to stop it from escalating to far. Everyone knows Dave and KJ can take the tiniest argument and run miles with it. "We are here for Issabellas' tea party, remember?" Todd gave KJ a pointed look, making KJ zip his mouth shut. Vincent just glared at them both.
*They're keeping a secret from us..* Axe growled.
*No shit.* Vincent rolled his eyes at his beast.
*Whatever.* Axe snarled.
*How lovely of you to finally join me, beastly.* Vincent sneered.
*Fuck off.* Axe retreated back in their mind, leaving Vincent frustrated.
All of their attentions were grabbed by a loud voice making its presence known.
"Now entering, Princess Isabella!" Macy announced.
Isabella stepped out from behind Macy in her pink princess dress with a twinkling tiara with her hands covering her mouth while she tried to suppress her giggles.
"Bella!" Vincent stuck out his hands for her.
Isabella ran right to him. "Bubba!" She squealed.
The group sat around the table while Isabella gave everyone cupcakes and little pink tea cups with juice. No one was allowed to touch a single thing until she was finished serving everyone and had taken her seat. Last time they had a tea party, Todd took a bit of his snack and Isabella cried for a solid ten minutes. They all learned a lesson that day.
Vincent couldn't help but stare down KJ the entire time. He was constantly stealing her attention when someone else tried to entertain her but when he had her attention, he was the sweetest person ever towards her.
*He's acting like a jealous mate..* Axe snarled.
That's when it all clicked together for Vincent.
"MOTHERFUCKER!"
