#Chapter 32: Bargaining with the Alpha

ELIJAH
I stared blankly at Ava’s arm as she pulled away from me. I must have unclenched my jaw only to clench it back. Anger was all I could see.
“I can explain.” I heard the woman speak to me. I could not even think her name I was so pissed right now.
“Talk.” I growled.
“I know how this looks but I can explain. I am from a pack in the were world but I was disowned by my mate. And he was going to label me as a rogue so I fled to the human world.”
I stood up taking deep breathes keeping my distance away from her.
“Why was you being labelled as a rogue?”
“I am not a rogue.” She said harshly. I snarled at her only to have her recoil into the couch.
“Ava, I am not screwing around. You should be transported to a cell right now for illegal transportation. I am trying to get your side of this lie.”
I was having a hard time getting my emotions under control. Even though I had just let Neptune for a run I could feel him angrily pacing and slamming into the barrier in my mind. I was Alpha to the Harbingers and we hardly showed any mercy.
“ I am not lying, Elijah. I left before he could place the rogue title on me. Everything I did was to protect myself.”
“And how has that worked out for you so far?” I questioned.
“You can’t send me back to the were world Elijah.” Ava pleaded.
“Why not?”
“I’m pregnant.” Ava said. I looked at her confused and more angry than ever. She told me she did not have anyone.
“I just found out that I am pregnant and if you send me back to the otherworld my baby and I will be in danger.” Tears formed in her eyes.
I walked closer to her, before she could back away from me I bent down to the petite woman and inhaled her scent. I let the barrier fall so my wolf could catch Ava’s scent. As I inhaled I was surprised I did not sense her before.
She may have been hiding it but as was a wolf, half but a wolf nonetheless. There was a faint scent that was unfamiliar to me but my wolf recognized it. It was the scent of a pregnant wolf; we would always smell it when the women of the pack were expecting and Ava was not lying.
“Danger from what?” I asked.

AVA
As I sat down I could see that Elijah was keeping his tempe rat bay. I could not blame him, I had been lying the moment I came into this world but I had no other choice.
“My mate labelled me as a rogue because his mistress gave him a son and he made it clear that he was going to disown me. So I left the otherworld and transported myself here. I found I was pregnant this afternoon.”
I was finally honest with Elijah and it felt like a big relief but I knew I could not keep the rest in.
“I also know that you are the Alpha of the Harbingers.” As I uttered those words his glaze grew harsher.
“When?”
“The day I was asleep in your office. I saw the tattoo when…” I stopped myself I did not want to go back to the thoughts I have been having since that day.
“That explains why you started avoiding me, but it doesn’t explain why you did not just come out and tell me after you found out.”
I looked at the man in front of me in shock. “Could you honestly say that if I told you the truth that you would believe me? That you would consider letting me stay in the human wold knowing I broke pack laws?” i felt like I was on the verge of screaming.
“I guess we will never know than, will we?” Elijah said.
He walked away from the wall he had been leaning against and came to sit down with me on the couch.
“So what now,” I asked.
“Since you are one of my actors and you are still my responsibility, I can make you the necessary paperwork to get a somewhat permanent situation here.” Elijah said.
Before I knew it I was hugging and thanking him over and over.
“Don’t thank me yet. There are rules and regulations to you being in the human world.” Elijah said and I nodded in response.
“Full disclosure on everything, Ava. Whatever I ask you, I want the truth. If I smell or catch a wind of a lie from you i am transporting you to a safe zone in the were world.”
“No more lies, I promise.” I said. There was nothing that I could hide anymore seeing as my biggest secret was out.
“That being said I am going to have to pull your contract as an actress with Moon Entertainment. You will stop acting immediately.” Elijah said without any hesitation.
But I could not let that stand.
“No!”
“What.” He said glaring at me.
“I will agree to whatever your terms are, Elijah but I cannot agree to stop acting. YOu cannot make me.” He glared at my words.
“I know that you can send me back to the otherworld. I know you can halt my career but I can’t give up on my dream. I have come this far to see it taken any from me.”
“Fine,” He said gritting his canines.
“You will continue until you are showing signs that you are pregnant and then we will revisit this matter. Until then you are no to disclose any information about your real identity to anyone. If you violate any of these terms, I will send you back.
No begging. No mercy. You will also face a trial if you break this agreement with me. Do you understand?”
“Yes. I understand, Alpha of the harbingers.” Even though it pained me to use Elijah’s true title I could not deny that this was the deal that I was making. This was who I was making it with.
I told Elijah that I would help with the destruction caused by his dogs. He did not object to it. After our talk he muttered something about cages and left the room.
I knew that it would take some time for Elijah to trust me.
