#Chapter 54 : Reminisce

Elijah
I decided to make it a quick visit with the pack to check in on everything in my absence. Truth was I wanted to have Ava by my side but she had declined my invitation.
She mentioned that she would go to the pack lands another time and that she was swapped with shooting. I knew that was not completely true because the filming director sent a mass email to all included with the film’s production that the actors would be given a three day break while they change the locations. Again.
So imagine my surprise when I open my bed room door to find Ava laying on the floor unconscious.
“Ava. Ava wake up.” This troubled me. I put my ear to her chest and was relieved to hear a clear and loud heart beat. Two of them. She and the baby were okay.
I lifted her up and brought her to the bed. I went to the bathroom and got a wash cloth and wet it and brought it to her face. I saw her eye lids flutter before she opened her eyes.
“Elijah, how did I—
“That is what I was hoping you would tell me. Ava how did you get here; the doors were bolted?” I asked. I was worried about both her and the child.
“I trying to teleport to my home but I think that I came here by accident.”
“Teleported from where?” I asked. Nothing was making sense why did she need to teleport when she had the car that I gave her.
“I teleported from the hotel studio that you used for the competition.” She tried to sit up but I put my hand by her collar bone to nudge her to lay back down.
“You need to rest. Why would you be there, Ava. That location is not being used for anything for another few months.”
Nothing was making any sense.
“I should probably start from the beginning.” Ava said as she leaned her head into the pillow.
“That would probably help.” I stood up to go get a glass of water from the kitchen.
“Stay here.” I said. I did not want to have to use my Alpha’s call on her but I knew how stubborn that woman could be.
She nodded and as I quickly made my way to the kitchen my mind was swimming.
Why would she need to be at that lot? Why was she teleporting now? What did she do to tire herself out to the point of exhaustion?
I filled the glass cup with water and returned to the room. I set the cup on the night stand within Ava’s reach and sat down next to her.
“Tell me from the beginning what happened and how you got here.”
“I found a shop that helps witches and I purchased a spell and a few items to perform a ritual to go through old memories. Or my mother.”
I looked as her and saw on the floor was a satchel full of material for witchcraft.
“Ava that is dangerous. You are an untrained witch. You only know one spell that we still do not know the full details of. And you are pregnant all that magick you use can diminish your energy.”
I tried not to be upset with her. She wanted to find out about her mother and after the information that Grayson and the others foud nit was a dead end.
“I found out why the spell is so powerful. I found out a lot by just one memory. That lot my mother brought me to in when I was little we stayed there during my auditions. She told me it was special place but never why.”
Ava started laughing to the point that I could her hear voice shake with sadness.
“Ava tell me what did you see?” I placed my hand on her shoulder and brought her closer to me.
“My mother was pregnant with me in the memory. She was afraid to tell my father because of how his pack would react to a halfling. She did not know how he would feel about her being pregnant with me.” Ava said.
This was the first time I ever heard that term. I was use to mutt or half breed but never halfling.
“What is a halfling?”
“The woman in the shop called my that too but she did not use it as a derogatory like all the other words I have been called. It was like an official name for what I am: half witch and half wolf.” Ava smiled at her words. At least it was nice to hear that a fellow witch was kind to her.
“My father was happy to hear that my mother was pregnant. He told her that his pack would accept me not matter what; just like they accepted that my mother was his mate.” She said. And then she looked at me.
I then came to the realization by her words. “His pack.”
“Your father was an Alpha.” I said. I looked down at Ava and she nodded.
“My father was the alpha wolf of his tribe and my mother was his luna.”
I was shocked to say the least, but I had never heard in my time as a Alpha about an alpha taking a witch as his luna, but it was possible.
“It makes sense that during the treaty that if your mother was sanctioned in a tribe as their local witch she would be dealing with the Alpha directly and they became destined mates.” I tried to make sense of it all.
Ava chimed in, “It also makes sense how my mother was able to get her hands on the fur and blood of an Alpha wolf for the teleportation spell. He gave it to her.”
“She was able travel freely as a sanctioned witch and as Alpha had could have his name removed from your birth certificates if anything should happen.”
“But what I don’t understand was why where we in the mortal realm? Why where we not with him if his pack had accepted us? And why was my mother executed if she was the luna to the pack?” Ava said as she grabbed the glass and began to drink.
It was clear with the excitement and disheartening feelings about the truth and over exhorting herself that Ava was on the brink of collapsing again.
“Ava, I think you and your mother were on the run.” She turned to me.
“I think that something had to have happened to your father for your mother to flee. Without his protection you and your mother would have had a target on your backs. Fleeing to the human world would make sense and given how long it took for my pack to find the both of you it makes sense.” I reasoned with her.
“But…” She tried to continued but I stopped her.
“No you need to rest. Everything you saw and your usage of magick most likely drained you. You need to sleep and recover, no arguments.” I said.
“Will you stay with me,” Ava said as her eyes grew heavy. I lifted her chin towards me and kissed her lips. She lay her head on my chest a fell fast asleep.
When I was sure she was asleep I reached for my phone in my pocket and sent a quick message to Lewis. I wanted to know which Alpha died during or around the time of Ava’s birth. With that bit of information we could probably get a read of who Harmony’s mate was.
There was one thing that bothered me though, what else in Harmony’s memories leave Ava to this state of exhaustion. Did Ava see anything else?
