#Chapter 43: Hello Sissy
AVA’s POV
Elijah and his pack had put my fears to rest. Even though I was still unsure about being an outsider in the Enforcers pack no one treated me like such. Well except for one she-wolf.
When all the food was cleared away and the mothers put their children to bed, the only wolves that were left were the high ranking wolves and the unmated bunch. One unmated she wolf sat next to me when all the men went to talk. Grayson had whispered something to Elijah and he told me that he would meet me back at his home.
I knew from business handled within Jacob’s pack that only high-ranking wolves, the alpha and his Luna were welcomed in those meetings. It broke my heart that Elijah did not have a fated mate yet, but it also made me relieved. I don’t know if I could handle being tossed aside for another.
Not again.
As I took a sip of the water my thoughts were interrupted by a bubbly young woman that looked a few years younger than me.
“What is your relation to Elijah?” The voice said with a hint of a snarl.
“Excuse me?”
“There’s no excuse for you being here. What is your relation to my Elijah?” This time she said slower as if I was incompetent. I knew she and I were not going to be bosom buddies. I fought the urge to roll my eyes at her aggression.
“Hello my name is Ava and yours is?” I tried to extend my arm for a hand shake but it was met with a cold demeanor.
Yup definitely not going to win over this one.
“My name is Sissy and I am the future Luna of this pack. So back off of Elijah. I have enough to worry about with the whore actresses throwing themselves at him I don’t need another bitch trying my patience.”
This was the same attitude I was met with when Alexis had arrived back to the pack. However this was a young woman that believed that I was invading her territory. Which in a way I could sympathize with her, but her attitude and lack of maturity was pissing me off.
“Is that a fact? Well since you can tell that I am a bitch in every sense of the word. You can tell that even though I am not apart of this pack I am stronger than you. So if you want to step up to me little girl make sure you know who you are dealing with.”
I growled at Sissy’s intimidation tactic or lack thereof. I could feel Tide bouncy against the barriers in my mind. She had been active since I found out I was pregnant.
I felt my eyes flicker with rage. Tide was on the defense right now. This subordinate was getting on my nerves and Tide was itching for a fight. However I stopped myself, I had to think about the life growing inside of me.
I was not Elijah’s anything. For all I know Sissy could really be Elijah’s betrothed. I was just a pregnant actress that he was responsible because of a contract. Nothing more.
“Look as much as I would like to continue with this,” I motioned the space between Sissy and I. “but I am exhausted and I do not want to get into with you.”
“I don’t like you being around Elijah,” Sissy growled. She was trying to mark her territory with me.
“Elijah and I are just friends, alright. There is nothing between us.” I said as I got up and began to walk away. I was taught never to turn my back on another wolf with malicious content but I was a guest here.
If Sissy tried anything Elijah would have to step in. And I did not want to put my child’s life in danger over a petty squabble.
I met with Julian later that day and she gave me a diagnosis. I was so excited to be able to see the life growing inside of me. Julian and the other nurses could not contain their excitement.
She explained everything to me from the machine to measure my heartbeat to the equipment to collect my ultrasound pictures.
“Well there is the baby,” Julian said pointing at the monitor. “By the looks of everything you and the baby have been having a healthy couple of months.” Julian said as she passed a towel to the other nurse. The nurse wiped the cold jelly off my belly.
“How far along am I?”
“It looks like you are about thirteen weeks. So you are roughly three months and in your first trimester. So take care of yourself and that child, Ava.”
I walked out of Julian’s office with a smile on my face. Nothing could bring down my sunshine.
Elijah’s POV
There are some things that you do not want to discuss with outsiders. There are some things that you do not want to discuss with your pack. I was fine with not having to explain why I was bringing a outlaw she wolf into my territory.
Most of them had figured out alright that Ava was pregnant by her scent. I was glad to see that everyone was treating her as an extension of me. They were not treating her like an enemy.
It made me want to know what her mate had against her so to let her leave his side. I shook my head at the thought. The bastard did not deserve someone as kind and gentle as Ava.
But when Grayson whispered to me at the outing that we have matters to discuss I could not ignore the feeling that Ava was the subject of the matter. I turned to the glowing woman next to me and smiled. True be told I did not want to leave her but I had duties as an Alpha to my pack.
As we made our way to the compounds office I saw the Twins sitting at the table playing cards.
Note to self: remind the Twins not to be too rough on the kids’ clothing. The mothers of the pack were fussing at me again.
I opened the door to the main office where I kept a lot of the important documents and equipment. Right now the only thing that was there was a computer and files laid out on the cherry oak wood table.
“You got started without me?” I questioned.
Lewis sat down facing forward. Grayson took the chair next to his that sat in the middle between myself and Lewis. I stood in front of the computer.
“We found this early this week. We compiled a lot of the data from Ava’s DNA and the time that she was found in the mortal world.” Lewis said in a calculating tone.
“We found that Ava’s DNA is not all wolf, Alpha.” Lewis said looking at the screen. I did not know about what I was looking at and I was hoping the boys could tell me something new.
“Lewis I already know that Ava is half wolf and half human-
“That’s just it Alpha,” Grayson said interrupting me. I turned to look him square in the eyes. What came next was like a punch in the face.
“Ava is mixed blooded with a wolf and a witch. Not human.”
“Ava’s full name is Evelyn or Avalyn Pierce.” Lewis continued where Grayson left off. “We found that the portal spell that Ava described to you is just like a very powerful witch that was prosecuted and executed around the time Ava was sent back to the were world.”
“So her mother was a witch,” I tried to make sense of that new information. “Who was her father, that was dumb enough to mate with out mortal enemy?” I said trying to keep my composure.
“That we don’t know. We know that he had to be a high ranking wolf but that we do not know who he was. The fact that Ava and her mother were able to travel without a trace is merit alone to be worried about her bloodline.”
Everything after that seemed like a blur. I needed to talk with Ava I needed to know the truth. And I needed to hear it from her mouth.
