#Chapter 33: Assorted Past of Ava
AVA
Elijah took the kitchen and the room where Connor and Eyolf’s cages were and I took the upstairs room. He told me to just throw anything away that could not be salvaged. I had to admit both dogs did damage on the place.
As I made my way to the kitchen with trash bags full of ripped pillowcases and sheets, Elijah stopped me.
“There is something that bothers me.” He started. “How did you end up in the human realm at that age?”
“My mother was with my father at the time and he was a human that lived in the mortal world. We had lived with him up until I auditioned for the talent search.”
Elijah went into his fridge, that surprising had no dents on, and bragged to bottles of water. He handed one to me and took a swig.
“But that does not explain how you ended back in the otherworld then. Or even how you ended up in my studio for the competition.” I could tell that a lot of questions that Elijah had were going to stem from my origin first and how I ended up on his doorstep.
“Well, my father died when I was about six and I convinced my mother to let me audition because she loved the play that I put on for her.” I paused smiling.
Come to think about it I put on plays to make both my parents smile. My mother loved my acting and my dad loved to hear me sing.
“I don’t know the exact details but I believe that my mother and I were found out at random.” I shrugged my shoulder as I took a gulp of water.
“Random, how so,” Elijah asked.
“I think it was my last performance someone recognized me in the audience and pulled me and my mother to the side. He started asking us a lot of questions.”
“He?”
“Yeah, when my mother saw him she instantly froze. She tried to take off with me but he called out her name. He took us to a diner and brought us dinner while he questioned us.
None of his questions made since to me, until I got older.” I said, handing him the trash bag so he could toss it outside.
“Question like what?” He said. I could tell Elijah was intrigued.
“Had I changed yet? Where was her mate? How did we get to the human realm undetected?”
I looked up at Elijah waiting for him to respond. “When the bill came he escorted my mother and I into his car and days later I was in a packed on my own.”
I did not have to say the rest because Elijah already knew what became of my mother and I.
“It was an Enforcer that saw you and he questioned both of you in a location that was public that your mother would not be able to make a scene. Especially since you had just become America’s Little Star. Do you know what happened to your mother after the transport?”
I stared at Elijah, I did not want to admit that I found out later that my mother was executed for crimes against weres, but I could never bring myself to say so. I closed my eyes and shook my head. Even if he knew it was a lie, Elijah did not push the issue any further.
As I was about to leave the kitchen, Elijah stopped me. “One last question, Ava,” Elijah said. “How did you end up at the competition? My Beta looked at the footage of that day and it shows you randomly popping up in the area.”
“My mother know a transportation spell that help use travel between the world. She had taught it to me when I had turned seven. I kept it with me just in case I ever needed it.
The location was the location my mother took me for my first audition and it had been buried in my mind ever since.”
I did not want any sympathy from Elijah so I decided that it was time to head back up stairs nad finish cleaning up after Connor. Elijah had gotten to spare cages from the outside shed that he assured me were reinforced and neither dog could break out.
He also reassured me that both dogs were back to normal. But I could nt shake the feeling that there was something that was not adding up to the attack of the dogs. Before I left both Connor and Eyolf were fine and well-mannered.
I even told Elijah that my day at the dog park was uneventful with no problems. It just unnerved me how quickly they attacked me but also Elijah that was their owner and an Alpha at that. I put it out of my mind as I began finishing the rest of the room.
I stripped the bed clean and changed all the beds to the linens that Elijah had given me a few hours ago. I did not go back down stairs and I did not engage with Elijah any further until I was finished. I saw no need to dredge up the past for one night and I was physically and emotionally drained.
I had expected for Elijah to check on me but I didn't hear from him until everything both down and upstairs was fixed.
After the talk we had and finishing up the cleaning, Elijah helped me upstairs and guided me to one of the guest rooms. When I had asked where he would sleep, he waved me off and told me that we would talk more in the morning.
Even though I was worried about Elijah finding out who I was, I felt safe knowing that I was honest with him. I felt comfort wrap around me as I changed out of my day clothes into pajamas. For the first time since I came to the mortal world, I slept peacefully.
ELIJAH
After hearing everything that Ava told me I still had more questions than answers. How was her mother able to get her hands on a transportation spell that powerful? Neither her mother’s nor Ava’s transport to the human world was detected by anyone.
I made a call to my Gamma right after Ava went upstairs to confirm my suspicious, and I was right. Undetected transportation decades apart from each other that were untraceable. Ava’s mother knew friends in high places for a spell such as that.
I did not want to press Ava any more. I had noticed the smile she gave her self when she mentioned she begged her mother to let her audition not for herself but to bring a smile to her mother’s face. It broke me to here that an Enforcer was the one that stopped them at Ava’s performance, but than again so had Grayson and I.
I had noticed the woman in the background, whom I could only determine was Ava’s mother. I did not even mentioned that I knew she was lying about what happened to her mother. I let that slide because no child wants to admit that they knew their parent was executed because they wanted to make their child happy.
Most likely the Enforcer that found Ava and her mother was apart of my father’s reign as Alpha seeing the difference in age between Ava and myself. The time the Ava and her mother wold have been found would have been the last year my father was Alpha and I would finish my training. I went to take on the role as Alpha the following year.
One thing still bothered me though. Ava mentioned that her father had passed away but if her parents were mated than he should not have subcode to any illnesses or injuries so quickly. I still did not press the matter.
I know that sooner or later Ava would open up more to me and talk to me about her past.
