#Chapter 48: Hide & Go Sissy

Elijah’s POV
It had been a few days since I had seen Ava and now that she was staying back at her studio apartment I knew I would be seeing less and less of her. If it had not been for some of her personal effects that she left behind at my place, it would have been as if she never step foot in my house.
I had grew accustomed her being around me from waking up to her having coffee at my breakfast nook to her sleeping next to me seeking comfort. Even my wolf was aching to have her by his side, but it could not be possible she could not be…
Could she?
I pushed the thought of the starlet out of my head and tried to bury myself back into my work. I had a business to run and a pack to maintain. The last thing I needed was thoughts of slender legs spread across my desk and hazel eyes begging for me to…
I closed my eyes and ignored what ever temptation that was threatening my peace of mind.
I had a business to run I could not afford to daydream. I had a pack to keep solid. I kept staring at the blank screen of my computer trying to keep focus.
All of a sudden my phone rang out pulling my out of my thoughts.
“This is Connery.” I said. Good something to get my mind off of her.
“Good morning, sunshine,” a delighted voice echoed in my speaker.
“What is it Grayson?” I asked.
“I just wanted to let you know that there is news about a werewolf syphon group that may be the cause of our breaches.”
“How so?” I said.
This was nothing new, there had been a few groups every now and again that wanted to oust werewolves to the humans but none of them had gotten far. The ones that tried did not even get a trial. My Enforcers dealt with the threat right then and there; ending the problem permanently.
“It’s just rumors so far but I got a name they call their little project: The End of Days. I have not been able to get a name of the organization itself but I got Lewis and the Twins investigating everyone that applies for travelling.” Grayson said.
As Alpha of the Harbingers I had to figure out who was targeting us.
I knew that this group had to be more organized than the bunch of novices that tried over the decades. My father dealt with a group that wiped out a brother tribe to us. Our brother pack was lead by a stern Alpha that wanted to bridge the gap between all the species.
He was a like minded individual just like my father. It sadden me when my father exclaimed that his entire line had died out.
“Keep up the search but you all need to be careful. We don’t have enough information about them and I do not want any casualties.” I stated.
I was about to hang up the call when Grayson interrupted me.
“Oh I also wanted to report to you that Sissy should be headed your way.”
No sooner did I hear those words did I feel slender tan arms wrap themselves around me. My wolf feels a sense of calm and relief that came out of nowhere. It smelled like the pack. She smelled like home. She…
I was inclined my neck backwards to see a radiant smile reaching from ear to ear and bright eyes staring back at me.
“Hello there Sissy,” I said at the phone and the wolf in front of me. Grayson had briefly mentioned to me that Sissy wanted to apply for a brief visit in the human world. I permitted because Christene never really caused me any trouble in the pack. I also figure that it might be good for Ava to be around another female wolf.
“Oh good she made it. I was gonna tell you that little Christene should be making her way to your headquarters soon. I could not get her to stop crying about being away from you; she is all yours now.”
I could hear Grayson’s laughter in the speaker phone.
“Thank you and keep me up dated Grayson.” I was ready to end this call with him.
“Don’t let Sissy know she’s got competition there.” I shook my head as I hung up the phone with Grayson. I was lucky enough that Christene did not hear any part of the conversation between myself and my Beta.
Sissy quickly wraps her arms around me for a hug. I smile because I cannot resist making and keeping the young wolf around me happy.
“Hello Christene, how was the trip here?”
“Oh come on Alpha Elijah—
I halted her with my hand. “Not here. Her you address me as Elijah. Remember we are amongst humans, Christene.” I don’t want to be stern with her but I have to make this clear so she does not slip up in front of my human employees.
“Elijah, since I do not have to use your title can you drop my childish name. I go by Sissy.” She said. She folded her arms behind her back and swung her body side to side.
Even though Christene was a few years younger than Ava I never truly saw her as anything but a young pup running after the adults.
“Fine, Sissy, how was the trip here?” I said.
She frowned for a moment and touched her stomach for a moment. “I honestly do not know how you and Grayson can travel back and forth like this. It’s nauseating.” Sissy said.
“Well I am happy that you will be working here with us.” I said.
“Well I wanted to prove to you that I can be a good asset to you in both the human realm and the werewolf world.” Sissy said as she began to look over paperwork.
I gently grab some of the material that she is shifting through. Last thing I wanted was to be missing important documents.
“It is only for a week but if everything goes well we might make this a look term goal for you. And I can not promise that this will be a permanent; you are close too matting age.”
I did not want Christene to miss her chances to be mated with her destined mate.
“Well while I am here I was hoping to be partnered with one of the actresses and shadow them. I can learn a lot about this world and the world of entertainment.” Sissy says as she begins to sit on top of my desk.
I notice that she is wearing a pencil skirt with black wedges and a white sleeveless shirt that ties at her neck. She looks like she was raised in this world. Christene is a long wolf cry from the ripped jeans and long sleeved shirts that she normally wears.
“You can shadow Ava—
“Actually Alpha I would rather not work with Ava. I don’t really thing she likes me and to be honest I do not trust her.” I notice Sissy’s demeanor changes.
This is the first time that I am hearing Christene disagree with anyone.
I was sure that Ava had earned my trust since we found out about her birthmother.
“Why do you think that?” I ask.
“I don’t know its just a feeling. I do know that she kept going on about missing some ex of hers.”
My thoughts flash to the flowers that were delivered to my house. I could feel my chest getting heavier and rage building inside of me.
“Is everything alright, Elijah?” Sissy said snapping me out of it.
“No, I mean…I am fine. I think you should partner with Lily.” I said giving her the paperwork to fill out and direction to the acting lessons Lily would be attending. Sissy leaves my office in a hurry eager to get to work. She thanks me with a hug and a peck on the cheek.
She leaves me to my rage. Right now I just want to destroy everything in my path.
