#Chapter 60: Reunion
AVA’s POV
I had a feel days to think over what Jacob told me, but I could not bring myself to explain to Elijah. I that he had smelled Jacob in the house and in the nursery but he made no indications about it.
I noticed that he left me to my thoughts and the children. As I nursed Lucas I noticed that Jacob’s aura was fading, but that did not comfort me. Seeing his blanket the children and myself in his presence left me wondering if we really could be a family.
When Jacob’s aura nad scent finally dissipate out of the rooms I heard a rapping at the open door frame. I looked up to see Elijah; I could not help but smile at the man standing in the door way.
From the looks of his clothes he had come home from the studio. His black dress shirt was completely open and showed the dark grey undershirt that was left untucked out of his dark blue slacks.
“May I come in,” he asked.
I wanted to be snarky and tell him, “it was his house he could do as he pleased,” but I did not want to fight with him. All I could do was nod. He walked into the nursery and passed his hand over Olivia’s curls.
“So what did your mate have to say?” I guess we where not going to dance around the subject.
“He said that he wanted to see me and take me and the babies home.” I said.
“And to be honest I thin she would be better where she belongs,” I knew that voice. I looked away from Elijah’s face to see JAcob standing there growling at us.
Elijah snarled back. “You have alot of nerve pup coming into my territory, into my home with no invite.” Jacob puffed his chest out and I could tell that he was trying to challenge Elijah.
“Stop,” I hissed as I quickly laid Lucas into the crib. “You to will take your dominant aura and leave this room. Not in front of my children.”
“Our children,” Jacob countered.
I balled my hands into a fist and I felt electricity prickle along my body. “Not the time Jake,” I growled.
I saw Elijah’s eyes that showed hints of shock and pride. He knew that in my time away from acting I had been honing my skills as a witch. With everything that I learned I knew that I could take Jacob in a fight but I did not want to upset my wolf.
She still had a connection with his. We all exited the nursery and made our way down stairs and out of the house to the backyard. I thought it would be best jsut in case the arguement between the two Alphas went south.
“So you are the wolf that rejscted his mate,” Elijah quipped.
Jacob scoffed. “Not that it is any of your business, but Ava left before I could recite my reject of claim on her. I came back here to get her.”
“Oh, but it does concern me. As ALpha of the Harbingers it is my responsiblity to any and all wolves that leave the realm. Ava fleed here because you did not accept her.”
I looked from one man to the other. My emotions were battling themselves. I remembered how Jacob declared his love for me, but I also thought about how much Elijah care for me.
“You left the realm to chase after your dream that;s good,” Jacob said tuirning to Ava. “But now its time to go home.” He said extending his hand out to me.
I could not believe what I was hearing he finally said it. Jacob wanted me to give up me dream and career again for his needs and wants.
I could not help but break down in tears at the thought of leaving this place. Apparently Elijah felt the same because he stepped in front of me and moved me behind his frame.
“You are a sorry excuse for a mate and a waste of thought. You have a new mate if I am not correct,” Elijah said squaring up to Jacob.
“That is not true,” Jacob explained. “She has my son but she is not instated as my mate or the LUNA of my pack.”
“You are a waste of Ava’s time and talnets.”
My eyes grew wide when Elijah mentioned Alex. Did he know this whole time about her.
“You have someone else that can take there place as LUNA. You don’t even see the potential that Ava brings to the table. There will always be a LUNA for the pack, but the rarity of a werewolf actress can lead to amazing opportunities for humans and werewolves.”
Jacob looks resentful by Elijah’s proclaimation but I guess he decides to yeild because he lets out a deep sigh and walks away.
“If you ocme home with me Ava, we can talk about you returning to the human world for a period of time each year. I stand by my statement I want you to come back home. I want to be a family.” With that Jacob turns and leaves the yard
I was stunned by Elijah’s sudden defense. He turned to face me and smiled. Elijah brushed his hand across my cheek wiping away the remaining tears.
“Ava, I lost my mother when I was too young to know her. I don’t want your children to have to go through what I did. I want them and you to have a good life…no matter what you decide.”
I know I am about to lose the love of my life but I have to do what is best for my family and my pack….I have to go home.
Within a few hours I pack our bags and call for JAcob to come get us. As Jacob loads everything into the car I quickly give ELijah a hug, thanking him for everything that he has done.
Jacob helps me load the twins carseats into his rented vechile and he opens the door for me. His kisses my forehead once I am in the passengar side. He closes the door and never once looks at Elijah.
We drive away I look in the rearview mirror to see Elijah standing in his drive way still. As the wind shifts I smell the distinct scent of fresh chopped wood and salt. I hold back my tears knowing that I left Elijah in sorrow.
We have been driving for a few miles when I noticedthat the twins had not made a sound and Jacob is surprisingly quiet. He pulls over into a empty parking lot and undoes his seat belt.
“Why are we stopping,” I asked.
All of a sudden Jacob grabs me and yanks my arm into his chest. I try to fight him with my other hand but he slams his hand over my mouth.
There is a pungent smell wofting from his hand before I realize it is a folded cloth that he is pushing against my nose and mouth. As I try to fight away from him he slams my head against the window hard enough to leave me daze but soft enough that the window glass has not shatteed.
As I fade out I hear JAcob talking to someone over the phone, “Yeah I got her. Make the preperations for four this time.”
He hangs up the phone and gets closer to me.
“You have no idea how long I have been looking for you bitch.” Jacob chuckles, “but none of that matters now that have your disobedient halfbreed.”
That was the last thing I heard before I faded into the darkness.
