#Chapter 35:Moon Godness
AVA’s POV
For the first time, in a long time I woke up in the morning with a peace of mind. Without waking up screaming in the middle of the night. I felt so relieved not only for myself but for my unborn child.
I did not need any more unwanted stress. I began to sit up in the bed I slept in last night. It took me a moment to remember that I stayed at Elijah’s house. Then it hit me: Elijah knows that I am a werewolf.
I raced out of bed and headed down stairs. Then my nose interrupted my train of thought with the aroma of food. When I made it downstairs and turned the corner I was in disbelief. Elijah was in the kitchen making breakfast without a shirt on.
I don’t think my hormones can take something like that. I thought as I cleared my thoughts as I entered the doorway.
“Good morning.” I tried to say it as clearly and calmly as I could.
“Good morning, I figured you would want to sleep in after the full day on set.” And your dog attacked me. I notice that it was floating in the air, but neither of us approached the subject.
Elijah had quite the spread on the kitchen table. There was scrambled eggs, bacon, French toast, and even fresh fruit. There were three different glass pitches with juices in the containers.
“Eat up and we can talk.” Elijah said as he walked out of the room. I wiggled my nose away from the eggs and bacon. Normally I would have taken it without hesitation but the smells made my stomach turn.
Then I remembered talking with the midwives of the pack. They said the senses of the mother would change as the baby developed. Figures I would not be able handle the smell of meat. Traci gagged at the sight of cabbage for some reason.
I grabbed a bunch of grapes, some strawberries and a cup of tea.
Elijah came back into the kitchen wearing a blue sleeveless shirt with matching pajama bottoms. He grabbed his plate and began to pile food on his plate.
“Is that all you are going to eat,” He interjected.
“Unfortunately, its the only food my stomach can tolerate with out get nauseous.” I grimace at the sight of the eggs. I swallowed my food quickly to prevent it from coming up.
“Sorry.” Elijah said.
“Its fine. So what should we do about my situation?” I decided to change the subject quickly.
“Well I am still wondering about other things about you, Ava.”
“Like what?”
“You said your mate took back his bond with you.”
“He was going to but I left.” I said correcting him. “We were together before I left but I think it was mostly for appearance in his eyes. I don’t think he wanted the pack to know he had a mistress and was betraying his oath to the Moon Goddess.”
“So your mate is the father of your child?” Elijah questioned. It almost sounded like he doubted me.
“I am pretty sure the last person I was sleeping with. But if you have doubts, yes Elijah my mate is the father of my child.” I said growling. I felt like Elijah would take Jacob’s side in this matter.
Elijah took a deep breath and exhaled. “Ava, I am not trying to rile you up—
“You are doing a fantastic job, by the way.”
“Its just a precaution. I have to ask questions just in case I have to push for a protection order. I am not questioning your loyalty to your mate or even your sexual partners.”
I felt bad, here Elijah was handling this like a professional like his company and I was acting like a child.
“My former mate’s name is Jacob Malkovich. Like I said he wanted us to separate and he was going to label me a rogue so his mistress could take my title without a challenge.”
“And here you had me thinking you were single,” Elijah whispered. For a moment I could have swore that was a hint of jealousy in Elijah’s tone.
“He is my ex-husband but we are not officially separated.”
“So the mating bond is still in place?” Elijah asked. All I could do was nod. “So that means that your mating bond is still intact?”
I could see different emotions play out on Elijah’s face, but I say nothing. I know he is hurt but there is nothing either of us could do about it.
All of a sudden I felt my stomach drop. I covered my hand over my mouth and ran to the nearest bathroom. I did not have time to shut the door behind me.
The only thing I was grateful for was my hair was still in the messy updo that I had left it in when I was cleaning the night before. I emptied all the contents of my stomach in a horrid motion and a equal horrid sound.
I slid away from the toilet and sat on the floor with my head resting on knees. I wrapped my arms around my knees and tried to hold in my tears and the rest of my breakfast.
Suddenly I felt a warm hand rub my back and soothe my discomfort with a humming buzzing sound. I lifted my head up to see Elijah squatting down near me staring down at me. His eyes were no longer the ice piercing blue that I was use to, but the color of waning moon.
He was using his Alpha call to comfort me. It must have worked because I felt myself drifting to sleep. The last thing I remember is hearing that man whisper in my ears:
“Don’t worry kitten I got you. I got you.”
