#Chapter 36: The Departure of the Pack’s True Luna
Back in the werewolf world there was panic and disorder in the Golden Eyed Pack. Jacob lead a search party for Ava through out his territory and the neighboring areas. He coordinated the party a week after he found Ava belongings gone and his mate absconded from the pack house.
“Thank you all for you assistance. I know that we will find Ava soon. Everyone rest up and I will give updates later today.” Jacob said through his teeth.
Pissed and frustrated could describe the Alpha of the Golden Eyed Pack. He was suffering for weeks now. And his temper was becoming shorter by the passing day.
He thinks he is fooling us. Luna Ava has been missing for weeks now and he did not bat an eye.
Alex has been keeping him busy you know.
My mate told me that he was not even going to the pack meetings between the ranks because he had to qualm her ego.
I miss Ava at least she was a Luna that gave a damn about this pack.
It was bad enough that many of the women of the pack were vocalizing how bad it was; the delay in searching for the Alpha’s mate. However it did not make it any better that against his better judgment that he moved Alex into the pack house and his bedroom. Rumors were flying around the camp that Jacob was responsible for Ava’s disappearance.
I have no doubt that Alex pushed our Alpha to get rid of his Luna.
The Goddess blessed their union and it was destroyed the moment that harlot was let back into our pack.
You do know that if Ava is dead Alex is going to demand to be made the Luna without a challenge.
She did give our Alpha a son and that makes her entitled to the title.
At what cost though.
Jacob could not acknowledge the rumors because that would just feed into it. His higher ranks told him to keep face and continue on with the search parties and showing support. Jacob was walking on landmines with the she-wolves of the pack.
And then there was his new mate. Without a title made her very bitter and angry and left Jacob with a case of blueballs.
“You should just give up the search for that mutt, baby. You have me and our son.”
That is what he heard every time he left to lead to search. Alex was trying to persuade him to call the expedition for his Luna. She would get mad when ever anyone brought up Ava as the title of Luna.
She constantly reminded him that she was suppose to have the title.
“Ava is dead, this search party for here is pointless.” Alex yelled as she stormed out of his office. Jacob wished he could agree with his consort, but there was no denying the mating bond. He felt the pull every time he kissed Alex. He felt a burning in his chest every time he laid in bed with Alex.
Ava was still alive; he could literally feel it. And it was like the Moon Goddess was punishing him for Ava’s stupid mistake.
As Alex left the room, Jacob’s second in command entered.
“What is it now, Doni? Jacob said in an agitated tone. Doni was appointed Beta when his father passed from an illness. Jacob’s father thought that Doni would make a great Beta but all Jacob saw was a challenge for his title waiting to happen.
Hell he saw how Doni use to look at Ava—not that he could blame him.
“Sir, I will agree with Alex on one thing.” The smugness of his beta’s tone was starting to piss him off. Jacob was in no mood to dance around any subject at the moment.
“What is that, Doni?” Jacob said. He was tired and ready to call it a night.
“If we can not find our Luna—
“Do not call her that within ear shot of Alex. I will never hear the end of it if she hears you state it.”
Jacob said as he pushed his back into his chair. He was exhausted and it showed. Since the rumors and whispers had started Jacob retreated to his office in the pack house. He never heard a disagreement fro Alex.
She made it clear they would not be rutting any time soon and he was not gong to sleep where he was not wanted.
He had an unkept beard when he was once clean shaven’d. His hair was tousled and oily and left looking like horrible bedhead. IT was bedhead considering he would just roll out of bed and get dressed.
The only time he showered when Alex baited him with sex. She made it clear she would only go to bed with him if he was manageable. So for sex he bathed. However they had not rutted in over two weeks.
“If Ava is not in your territory or the surrounding area, I doubt that she is even in this realm. She might have fled to the human world…sir.” Doni said. His smug attitude was gone and he appeared to be the obedient second that Jacob needed.
“So what should I do?” Jacob questioned.
“I think you should apply for clearance to visit the human world. But instead of telling them you are looking for a rogue and alerting the Harbingers; tell them we want to do business.”
It was the perfect cover Jacob thought. However when that subject approached years ago he declined not wanting to commingle with lowly humans.
“Get me the paperwork.” Jacob said.
Doni placed an form that read:
Application of Appeal and Clearance
The form was simple information about Jacob and his pack. The number of members in the pack and reason for clearance. It even stated that it would take about three to four months for the form to get through the process.
As Jacob filled out the paperwork he thought about how easily Ava was able to get into the human world.
Did she already have this paperwork completed before Jacob had told her it was over? Was she biding her time before the approval came through? The thought alone agitated Jacob.
She left him with a mating bond that he could not get rid of and an upset consort that was refusing to lay with him until she was crowned Luna of the pack.
Right now Jacob was in a living hell and nightmare thanks to his abandonment of his mate. He would chase her ‘til the ends of the worlds.
