#Chapter 74: The Symbol of Hope
(Ava’s POV)
You have a plan,” I ask unsure about the situation. After showering with Elijah I felt a sense of calmness around me. It made me realize that I had been walking on pins and needles in my past relationship.
“I have a plan to take down the Syndicate, get you back into the world as a beacon of survival and hope,” Elijah said as he passed a mug of coffee to me.
Grayson stood at the oven fixing breakfast for the lot of us. Hearing my stomach I could not remember the last time I ate anything…or kept anything down.
My nerves were all over the place.
“So what is your plan Alpha,” Grayson said with his back still turned to us.
“My plan is of course to find out were all of there hideouts are in the human wprld. Thye must be relying on humans to fortitfy themselves here. I ant to hit ech one before we move to anything critical to the plan.”
“Which is,” I asked eagerly.
“You,” Elijah said before taking a sip of coffee.
“Me! Why me,” I felt like a weigh was going to slam into me at any moment.
“I am the reason why this happened I dont think it would be a good—
“Ava!” Elijah said in a roaring tone. I looked at him with large eyes. It had been a while since he used his Alpha call on any of us, but I saw Grayson tense up earlier.
I looked at Grayson behind us seeing him hold the on to the countertop.
“I have used my call twice today, I dont want to use it aggainst anyone else, however your psyche and emotions are everywhere. Calm down and listen to me, love.”
All I could do was nod.
“The syndicate used you and your reputation to spread fear to the people in the industry as well as anyone that may have watched the broadcast. But just like they used you to spread fear we can make your reputation and work to spread hope.”
“No offense Elijah but that is unrealistic fantasy, especially since the lot of the world sees me as a monster that will eat their young,” that comment sent Grayson to fits of laughter.
“I doubt you or your motherly wolf would harm a child before an adult charging after you. And most of the people around are afraid of us because the spread of misinformation. Its been like that since the dawn of the moon.
When the light from the moon and the sun casted out the darkness humans started to fear the dark nad clung to the light.”
Even with Grayson expressing himself I still had my doubts.
“I still believe that I am the last person that you should use. Why not you talk to them Elijah, everything that you have accomplished here is an achievement. Hell you are the bridge between humans and wolves.”
“No, you are,” Elijah said staring into my eyes. “You are still part wolf, regardless in your mother was a witch she still had humanity inside of her. And the union between your parents are proof enough that peace and harmony is possible. I created the ideal but you can be the symbol that truly merges the worlds or humans and werewolves.”
With that Elijah stood up and grabbed the remote to the small television that was anchored in the back wall of the kitchen. I forgot he even had it.
When he turned on the TV I saw hundreds and thousands of people walking in the streets. I saw them holding up signs with my name on it.
They were chanting different things but it was all the same: Ava is not a monster.
Bring back our Wolf Queen.
Humans can love monsters.
“You have a larger fanbase than any of us could have counted on. And they all have come to your defense.” Elijah wrapped his arms around me and kissed my head.
I could not help but cover my mouth with my hands. I could feel myself let go of my angst and fear. I could feel the tears fall from my face.
I had some many people that believed in me. As the news began to cover this uproar all I could think about was how could I do more.”
“Alright Elijah, tell me what I have to do,” I said not looking up at my mate.
“You have to take a step outside and hold a press conference. If you show them that you are not going to hide from this it will show the humans and the syndicate that you have the power to take on the world.”
Grayson place the plates of food in front of us, and began to eat.
“So boss and I will begin to raid the hideouts of the Syndicate. After we get them down in numbers Ava makes herself known to the world. Challenge the bastards that doubt her. Did I miss anything,” Grayson questioned as he took a bite of his steak.
Elijah swallowed his food before answering Grayson’s questions. I saw his Adam’s Apple bobbed up and down as he finished swallowing.
“That sums it up right. Why?” Elijah responded.
Grayson leaned back in the chair and looked from Elijah to me.
“That means that the worlds are soon going to be at war.”
That was when we heard the reporter on the news.
Today a video has been released of a group of vigilantes capturing a being that is believed to be a monster just like celebrity Ava.
It cuts to footage of a human in the process of changing. The entire room is silent as the person that is shifting is in complete agony. When a werewolf has transformed into the animal part of being a werewolf no matter the size after so many transformations it becomes less painful.
Judging by the age of the male in the video he had to be at least in his late twenties or early thirties. When the transformation was complete a medium size wolf was facing the camera. it became frantic and angry.
The werewolf began to slam its body into the cage and break free but it did not get the chance. The loud ring rung out in the video before the creature slummed to the ground.
The people in the video had shoot the werewolf point blank. They had recorded it and sent it to a new station for everyone to view.
I looked at both male weres in front of me. I could see a harden look on Elijah’s face. It was inhumane and disgusting to see a fellow wolf be used as an example like that. Elijah looked like he was going to transform at any moment.
I took a hold of his hand and griped it tightly. He looked at me and closed his eyes.
I reached over and placed my hands on Grayson’s shoulders. He flinched for a moment before gripping my hand on his shoulder.
“Alpha a war is coming and blood will be spilled on both sides.” Grayson growled.”
“I know,” Elijah muttered.
WE all knew it was coming. Hopefully we could end this before more innocent blood is spilled.
All the food that Grayson had made for us ended in the bellies of the wolf hounds. NO one had the stomach to eat after watching an unknown comrade fall.
