#Chapter 63: Mind Over Manipulation
AVA’s POV
Where am I?
Everything around me is blurry. I feel heavy and disoriented. From where I am siting I can make out a door but it also looks like I am caged with iron bars around me. I looked down to see that I was laying on top of a tattered mattress with no blanket or pillow.
I know that I am still under the influence of whatever drug that Jacob had given me at the hotel. My senses are dull even though I am certain that we are in the werewolf world. Nothing make senses and all I can think about is finding my children.
Every time my wolf tries to get up she slumps to the ground and growls lowly. She is weaken to the point that I cannot call her out. She whines when ever Jacob comes in and out of the room. She wants to be released from our mating bond but he is enjoying tormenting us.
Why, I do not know.
As my eyes close and open I am met with different people every time I open my eyes.
I could hear my wolf push me to stay awake.
Ava, keep your eyes open.
I cannot Tide…I am sorry.
Close. Complete and utter darkness surrounds me and engulfs me into a REM sleep.
Open.
Ava can you hear me….
Her voice was pleasant to hear; at least that meant that my wolf was still alive and well enough to communicate with me.
Tide can you get up…if you can maybe we….
While I tried to make contact with my wolf I heard others talking around me.
“This is bullshit Jacob,” I can hear a whining sound outside of my cell. Or door. This sound makes my wolf lower her ears over her head.
“You already told me that.” For some reason this scruffy voice feels my wolf with anger.
“Why is she still ALIVE!” There was that shrill voice again.
Somebody make it stop…
I could faintly hear shoving and a sudden thud, but my eyes grew heavier as the footsteps grew closer.
“Look who is …with us. Don’t …mutt…It will all be over soon…promise.” The voice was fading in and out to the point where I could barely make out what they were saying. I felt a something brush my hair out of my face and something wet on my lips.
He is going to pay…
Just like that I slipped back to my deep slumber.
A sudden crash to my face brought me back to reality. I gazed up to see that the petite new lover of my ex mate was standing over me. As my head started to slump over I felt a harsh tug and a pain in the back of my head.
“I am talking….Stay the fuck awake!” I could make out the yelling and the screaming that she was aiming towards me. “Even with you being here I still cannot get what I deserve.” She sneered at me.
Before I could form a sentence I felt a drop of a liquid fall and hit my face. It took me a while to realize that she was taking advantage of the sedatives coursing through my veins. Alex had slapped me in the face to wake me up.
This made my wolf bark lazily. Then I figured out that she had slammed the back of my head against the wall.
That would explain why there was something wet dripping on my neck….but my face…
That was when I smelled her on me. This trap had spit on me.
My growl was aware of the situation and was not happy, but then again neither was I.
The first chance I get I am going to rip her spine out through her throat. My wolf was happy to hear that I finally set on killing Alex.
“I just came down here to give you a little something. I mean I know that Jacob had already given you a dose, but it would be unfortunate if you succumb to sleep this go round….” I saw her back to me as Alex was gathering instruments and surgical tools.
I had seen Jacob use the same equipment to sedate me in the human realm. However this idiot was looking for me to overdose and kill me. She wanted to force Jacob to giver her the title of Luna.
“But don’t worry I will make sure that your little brats know their place. And when Jacob makes me his mate completely I am going to send those half breeder bastards somewhere far away from my baby.”
She squatted down in front of me and even though my vision was still distorted I knew who was stabbing me with the needle.
This figure belonged to the same annoying voice that had been convincing JAcob to end our relation. The same wolf bitch that wanted my station. At this point I would give it to her if it would get me and my children out of Jacob’s territory. However I just wanted to get rid of her and Jacob.
They had caused me so mush misery and I refused to let my children be at the end of that abuse. As she pushed the medicine in my veins I could not help but chuckle.
She looked at me confused but paid me not heed.
When these sedatives wear off I am going to give you what you deserve. A slow painful death.
Against my will I could not and did not have the strength to fight the next dose of drugs that Alex administered to me. I felt my head fall and my body slump over.
I felt something slide down my throat and what felt like a hand rub my throat . Without my body’s movement I swallow something bitter and warm. I felt like I was going to gag however I did not. I opened my eyes to see a short brown haired woman bending down in front of me.
She tilted me head once more. Or at least she tried. I felt my wolf creep out of the darkness and regain composure. I let out a low growl signaling the woman in front of me that I was on guard.
“Please Luna, let me help you,” the woman pleaded. As my vision came into focus I began to recognize my newest visitor. Her hair was cut into a slanted bob, he had freckles that crossed from cheek to cheek. I was use to seeing a smile on her face whenever she passed me; not the seldom frown she displayed in front of me.
“Me…lissa?” I said. I was slurring my words but I could tell that the sedatives were beginning to wear off.
She pulled a bundle out of her pocket and gave it to me. She unwrapped it and began to break off pieces.
“You need to eat something.” Even though she seemed sincere I had several unwelcome guest give me concoctions that I was adamant to taking. “This will soak up everything that the Alpha and his pet have been giving you.”
I looked down at my fingers and saw that I was able to one by one move all of my digits. I slowly reached for the bowl that she was holding and brought it to my lips.
“Why,” I said in a hoarse tone. I do not know how long it has been since I could speak.
“It is not fair what they are doing to you. You were a good Luna to this tribe and for no reason they put you here instead of releasing you from the mating bond. It is unforgiveable.”
“Where are they,” I growled. “Where are my children?”
“Drink and I will answer every question that you have.”
As I drank the last bit of the remedy I felt my wolf come alive.
“Tell me everything.”
