#Chapter 39: Application and Uncovering Secrets

Just another day in the life of Beta of the Enforcers.
Grayson thought as he poured himself a cup of coffee. He was used to getting up early in the morning to discuss any problems with the Alpha. However, since there was work to be done in the territory of the Harbingers.
Making his way upstairs he passed by other members of his team. They were just as focused as he was to get everything ready for the next intruder or break in their perimeter.
Grayson took a swig of coffee as he walked into the office of Gamma, Lewis. After Grayson’s talk with the Alpha he was worried about the situation the pack could be facing. When he factored in all the events happening Grayson could not see any of this as a coincidence.
A runaway she-wolf falls right into his Alpha’s lap that just happens to be a lost starlit. There is a red alert near the Alpha’s home in the were world but after a run they found nothing. Then Alpha Elijah’s wolfhounds went berserk and attacked their owner.
Grayson was not a believer in coincidences. Something or someone was puppeteering everything around the pack.
“Good afternoon, Grayson. Anything to report?” Lewis questioned as Grayson sat down in the chair across from him. The office was aligned with computers that had different setups and applications from different werewolves that want to travel to the human world.
“Alpha Elijah’s house may have been compromised. The wolf hounds he has been training in the human world were nuts. Oh and his actress is a runaway were …you know the usual.” Grayson said, trying to make a joke out of the situation. Even though he knew it was not a laughing matter it was the easiest way to reassure himself that everything was going to work out. That and he enjoyed getting under the Gamma's skin.
Lewis was a perfectionist. From his straight metal-rimmed glasses that never left Lewis face to his perfectly styled dirty blonde hair that no strain was out of place. Grayson found it hysterical to get a rise out of his friend in their off time.
“What?” Grayson said as he turned himself and the entire wheeled chair to face Grayson.
“Relax, I spoke with our Alpha and he has everything handled. He even gave us something to do to pass the time.”
“And what is that? Ignore the fact that Ava is a runaway in the human world while there was a breach in the Alpha’s homes in the realms. This is not a joke, Grayson.” Lewis’s jaw clenched for a moment.
Grayson sighed. “I know that is what Elijah and I talked about. He has Ava handled and besides I don’t think she has anything to do with the breaches. Maybe.”
“Maybe?” Lewis said, his eyebrow arched in question.
“I think something is going on just …I don’t want to speculate anything before Alpha and I have definite proof.”
“Understood.” Lewis let out a breath that he had been holding on to and out his back to Grayson. He went back to finishing the reports and applications for the next transportation cycle.
Grayson took the first application file that was laying on the desk. He was shocked to say the least that a wolf of Jacob Malkovich’s caliber would request to travel between realms. The application stated that Malkovich wanted to travel to the human world to extend business within his pack and he wanted to help bridge the gap between the humans and weres.
I wonder what brought this change on. Malkovich expressed little to no interest in branching his pack out into human territory.
As Grayson flipped through the application file he motioned it to Lewis.
“Hey Lewis, what do you make of the new batches of applications? Malkovich is in here.”
“Yeah I saw that but put it in your capable hands.”
“True be told, when the Wolf King approached a lot of the Alphas for the first initial bridge to the human realm, Jacob Malkovich was one of the wolves that thought it was a waste of time and resources. It's weird to see that he has changed his mind after all these years.” Grayson said, dropping the application on the desk.
“Might have something to his Luna.” Lewis stated.
“Right. What about her?” Grayson asked.
“She is half. She might have persuaded her new mate to see her world through his eyes. Rumor has it that she might have softened him up a bit.” Lewis stated.
Grayson chuckled. “Yeah, that might do it. I never knew that his mate was half wolf. The lot of us were under the impression that he got a full wolf, but the Moon Goddess works in mysterious ways.” Grayson picked up the file and dropped it on Lewis’s desk.
“So what is the verdict, Beta?”
Grayson sighed. “Mark it down as a reviewed applicant. Send Malkovich a follow-up letter. Let’s see if his new ideals.” Grayson said as he started looking into the old database. “I have more important things to look into.”
Before coming to the office, Grayson made his way to the lab and did a filing system on Ava’s DNA. He had the technicians make sure that she was in the database and what they had matched the files when she was brought to the were realm ten years ago.
The computer quickly hit a match: two matches in fact.
“Well I’ll be damned.” Grayson said as he signaled Lewis. The Gamma werewolf looked at his companion's shoulder and let out a low whistle.
“Holy shit.” Lewis said with a laugh. Grayson could not agree more. Lewis hardly swore, hell he hardly laughed but this was something that could not be ignored.
On Grayson’s computer there was the information for Ava’s DNA. Alongside of it there was Ava’s official birth-name. It also showed her parents.
“So Ava’s parents were mated and married before Ava was born. The database showed something that Grayson and Lewis could not believe.
There was information about Ava’s mother. Ava’s mother was executed for illegal transportation between the worlds. Ava’s mother was a witch.
