Chapter 219 Broke the Appointment!
"Ms. Fisher, should we call Mr. Brown and the others to check in?" One of the team members suggested.
Fiona was about to make the call when Jasmine's voice cut in, "Mom, it's fine! Manuel and the others just liked my video!"
"Alright, then everything's okay."
Fiona's furrowed brow relaxed into a smile.
If Manuel and the others liked the video, it meant they were on their way.
Everyone felt relieved.
Waiting was no problem.
The Merchants' Guild of Shadows would definitely make an appearance.
Half an hour before the signing ceremony, and still no sign of the Merchants' Guild of Shadows.
But no one was worried.
However, Kurt and a few others sensed something was off.
The head honcho, Mr. Du, usually made a grand entrance.
For an event like this, he would typically arrive at least half an hour early.
Given the scale of this event, arriving an hour early wouldn't be out of the question.
But not only was he absent, no one else had shown up either.
Kurt couldn't help but ask, "Ms. Fisher, are you sure everything's set with the Merchants' Guild of Shadows?"
Fiona nodded, "Yes, everything's confirmed!"
"Then let's wait a bit longer."
With only ten minutes left before the ceremony, there was still no sign of the Merchants' Guild of Shadows.
Now, Fiona and the others were starting to panic.
Even with any unforeseen circumstances, they should have arrived by now.
"What's going on? What is the Merchants' Guild of Shadows doing?"
"At this point, it's clear they don't value this. Are they not coming?"
Both Hope Pharmaceutical and the guests, as well as the media, began to question.
"Fiona, maybe you should call and check?" Eugene was the most anxious.
He couldn't afford to lose this board position.
Fiona gritted her teeth and called Manuel.
"Who's this?"
"Mr. Brown, it's me! Fiona!"
"Ms. Fisher, I'm a bit busy on the road. I'll call you back later!"
Manuel quickly hung up.
Fiona frowned, feeling something was off but couldn't pinpoint what.
"What did Mr. Brown say?" Jasmine and the others asked anxiously.
"Mr. Brown said he's busy on the road."
Hearing this, Jasmine and the others relaxed.
"Mr. Brown is on his way! That means everything's fine!"
They continued to wait.
No one called anyone else.
The ten minutes passed quickly.
The time for the signing ceremony arrived, but not a single person from the Merchants' Guild of Shadows showed up.
Everyone was dumbfounded!
They stared at the entrance, hoping to see someone, but there was no sign of hope.
Over a hundred media representatives were getting restless.
Kurt and the other guests were also getting uneasy.
"What is going on with the Merchants' Guild of Shadows?"
Jasmine looked like she had been struck by lightning, her face pale.
William's warning echoed in her mind.
Could it be that William was right from the start?
Had they been deceived?
No one could say for sure now.
Kurt and the others looked grim.
The Merchants' Guild of Shadows had played them!
Based on Kurt's understanding of Corey, this was something he would do.
"Quick, contact the Merchants' Guild of Shadows and find out what's happening!"
Everyone started making calls.
They tried all the numbers on the contract and any other contacts they had.
"We're sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service."
"We're sorry..."
With each call, Fiona and the others were left in shock.
All the numbers on the contract were disconnected!
"That's impossible! I called last night and they were all working! How can this be?"
Fiona's voice was tinged with tears.
Jasmine took a deep breath, "They must have just been disconnected."
