Chapter 94 Slaps Galore
"Don't even think about threatening us," William shot back.
The three guys covered their faces, tears streaming down. They were scared out of their minds, thinking William might actually beat them to death if this kept up.
"Go back and tell the leaders of the Merchants' Guild of Shadows that we're not handing over the ancient formula. But we've got plenty of slaps to go around. And don't even think about messing with Hope Pharmaceutical, or you'll regret it. Now, get lost!"
Terrified, the three scrambled away like their lives depended on it.
The office went dead silent. No one expected William to just start hitting the three members of the Merchants' Guild of Shadows! But his boldness gave everyone a weird sense of satisfaction. They'd all had enough of those guys' arrogance. William had stood up for them.
But Fiona wasn't happy. Her face was dark. They'd just made a powerful enemy in the Merchants' Guild of Shadows. Retaliation was almost certain.
William saw the worry on Fiona's face. "Fiona, don't stress. It's just the Merchants' Guild of Shadows. I'll handle it."
Fiona forced a smile. "Okay, William."
But inside, she was freaking out. How could William handle it? The people he counted on—Aaron, the Crimson Brothers, Victor—were nothing compared to the Merchants' Guild of Shadows. Only the Rose Corporation could stand up to them, and they were just business partners.
Although Hope Pharmaceutical seemed to be thriving, it actually faced greater hidden risks.
When Alice and the other two got back, they reported everything to Gerald, one of the directors of the Merchants' Guild of Shadows, who worked for Corey. They'd gone to Hope Pharmaceutical on Gerald's orders.
"Is Fiona nuts? Going against the Merchants' Guild of Shadows? She's asking for trouble!" Gerald fumed.
Alice, still holding their faces, shouted, "It was her godson who beat us up! It doesn't matter if he beat us or even killed us. They're openly challenging the Merchants' Guild of Shadows."
"I'm reporting this to the other directors and the vice president right now," Gerald snapped.
Alice finally smiled, "Fiona, you're done for!"
That evening, Eugene asked, "I heard the Merchants' Guild of Shadows paid a visit to Hope Pharmaceutical?"
"Yeah, I dealt with them," Fiona nodded.
"Do you have that kind of authority? Where's your boss?" Eugene had been digging around all day.
Fiona rolled her eyes. "My boss gave me full authority."
"What?" Eugene's eyes lit up. He hadn't expected Fiona to have so much power. If she could handle the Merchants' Guild of Shadows, it was a big win for him. He'd definitely get to meet the boss of Hope Pharmaceutical and maybe even strike a deal.
Eugene said, "It's best not to provoke the Merchants' Guild of Shadows. Try to settle it with money if you can."
While William was out, Jasmine asked, "Mom, did William go to Hope Pharmaceutical with you?"
"Yeah, he was there today," Fiona replied.
Jasmine huffed, "Look at him, doing nothing all day. He doesn't even have a job. He just follows you around. He's a grown man."
This reminded Fiona that William needed a job and not be idle all day, and she also needed to give Xavier an explanation.
Fiona nodded. "You're right. William should have something to do. How about I give him a position at the company? Maybe make him my personal assistant?"
Eugene immediately objected, "No way. Fiona, you want to train William, right? Help him gain some skills?"
Fiona said, "Yes."
Eugene analyzed, "Then William absolutely can't stay by your side. That would just hold him back. He needs to go somewhere completely new; that's the only way he'll develop his abilities."
