Chapter 278 I Seem to Have Heard My Name!
This time, the whole Watson family pulled out all the stops. The reception was even grander than the last one.
They booked the most luxurious private dining room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel's rooftop restaurant and even shelled out $100,000 a night for the Presidential Suite, all to welcome Noah.
Noah was a big deal in the martial arts world—if they ticked him off, the Watson family's standing in Starlight City could be toast overnight.
Fiona was extra cautious, not daring to slip up even a bit.
Hope Pharmaceutical had already lost its biggest backer—since William had completely cut ties with his dad, she knew Xavier wouldn't be helping out anymore.
She had to rely on herself now.
That's why she was pushing hard for the mass production and launch of the Phoenix Breath Pill and the development of the "Body-Strengthening Potion."
Soon, Noah arrived.
The Watson family practically groveled to welcome him, almost ready to kneel and pave his way.
This extreme respect pleased Noah greatly. After all, he was getting the treatment he deserved.
But Noah was a practical guy and wouldn't get lost in superficial flattery.
He quickly began subtly probing the Watson family for their knowledge of the recent activities of the Jones family.
Jasmine showcased her social skills, quickly bonding with Noah and sharing all the info she had about the Jones family's situation.
As Noah was leaving, he specifically mentioned. "By the way, I want to know what herbs are being grown in the Jones Manor's garden. If you have any way to find out, there'll be a generous reward."
Jasmine committed his words to memory.
She was about to head to Sunview City to expand her influence and needed to break into the local elite circle.
This was a perfect opportunity—if she could help Noah with this, she'd immediately gain top-tier support in Sunview City, making everything she did much more effective.
On her way home, she happened to run into William, who had just returned.
Jasmine parked and rolled down her window. "Hop in, I'll give you a ride."
She guessed William had just finished dining with his regular friends and decided to let him experience high society once again.
William didn't say a word and got into the car.
As the car started, Jasmine remained silent, her mind racing. How could she uncover the secret of the Jones Manor's garden?
Forget it, she thought, I'll just call Amelia. We have a bit of a connection; maybe she'll be willing to share.
Jasmine dialed the phone while driving. "Hey, Ms. Jones? It's Jasmine Watson. I'll get straight to the point. What's the best herb you're growing in your garden? Can you tell me?"
On the other end, Amelia was clearly taken aback, not expecting Jasmine to directly inquire about Frostcrystal Grass.
"Ms. Watson, I can't make that decision. Let me check and get back to you."
Jasmine nodded, "Alright."
Just as she hung up, William's phone rang.
Jasmine frowned slightly. What a coincidence!
"What's up?" William asked coldly.
Amelia's voice came through the phone. "Mr. Davis, Jasmine wants to know what's being grown in the garden. Should I tell her it's Frostcrystal Grass?"
Jasmine seemed to vaguely hear her name and was about to listen closely when a sharp turn appeared ahead, forcing her to focus on steering.
"Go ahead, it doesn't matter," William replied indifferently before hanging up.
Amelia and the others worried that news of the Frostcrystal Grass might attract unnecessary trouble.
But William didn't care. No matter who knew, he'd deal with anyone who tried to take it.
After the turn, Jasmine tentatively asked, "William, I think I heard my name just now… Who were you talking to?"
