Chapter 224 Pay Attention to Safety!
Jasmine nodded firmly. "Exactly!"
Then her expression shifted. "Cassidy, what were you thinking? You should've told me about this sooner!"
Cassidy looked confused. "But you just said it wasn't a big deal."
Jasmine sighed. "William did save me, and I'm grateful for that. But you made it seem like I owe him something! What if he tries to use this to get me to be with him?"
"Especially my mom. If she finds out we wronged him, she'll definitely use it as an excuse to push me into marrying him!"
Cassidy quickly shook her head. "I'm sorry! I didn't think it through!"
Jasmine let out a long sigh. "I only feel gratitude towards him. I can't let this situation force me into liking him!"
"Here's what we'll do. Find an opportunity, Jasmine, to thank him properly and make it clear that there's no chance of a relationship."
"Alright!" Jasmine felt utterly miserable. The recent events were enough to make anyone break down. And now this mess. The last thing she wanted to acknowledge was that William had warned them about being deceived. But it was true. And now she had wronged William! Her pride made it incredibly difficult to apologize to him. Why did everything have to go wrong at once?
No one in Starlight City could have predicted today's events. The Merchants' Guild of Shadows dared to pull such a stunt. Even Kurt was fooled!
But Kurt soon received a call from Corey.
"Mayor Graves! Haven't you always wanted a plaza that could hold ten thousand people in Starlight City? The Merchants' Guild of Shadows is donating three!"
"Additionally, this year, the Merchants' Guild of Shadows will increase local tax revenue by thirty percent! That'll be enough to push Starlight City into the top ten among the twenty-nine cities!" Corey said with a smile.
Kurt smiled helplessly. "Alright! This is your business competition, I can't get involved. Just stay safe!"
Kurt wasn't staying out of it because the Merchants' Guild of Shadows was generating revenue for Starlight City. It was because William was involved, and he had no right to interfere. He didn't even dare to warn the Merchants' Guild of Shadows, only managing to say, "Stay safe."
Corey chuckled and hung up the phone. "Mayor Graves told me to stay safe! It's Fiona and her team who need to be careful!"
Manuel and the others stared at Corey. "Grandpa, what did Mayor Graves say?"
"What else could he say? He won't get involved in our affairs!"
Corey's words reassured everyone. They had put Hope Pharmaceutical in such a dire situation; their biggest fear was Kurt's wrath. With Kurt staying out of it, they felt no pressure, even becoming reckless. They could comfortably swallow the three ancient formulas and the $30 billion worth of products.
At Azure Villas, Fiona was crying so hard she was convulsing! All her hard work was gone. And it was all because of William! She had been deceived! And this was without even informing William! Despite William's repeated warnings, she hadn't paid attention. Regret! Endless regret!
"Fiona, you need to tell your boss everything and ask for his help!" Eugene suggested. Hope Pharmaceutical's downfall meant the Watson family's source of income was gone.
Fiona didn't respond. There was no boss. It was just her. Wait! William had been warning them from the start that it was a scam! Could it be that he had seen through it from the beginning? Maybe he could fix this?
Fiona's eyes lit up. Just then, William, having heard that Fiona had fainted, rushed over.
"Fiona, are you okay?"
