Chapter 99 Can You Find a Replacement?
"But Luke got his butt kicked by you and got shipped back to Atheria. He's still laid up in the hospital. The deadline's creeping up! So, I need you to step in for Luke as the instructor for The Ravenous Wolf Legion." Aaron mumbled, staring at the floor, too scared to meet William's eyes.
William raised an eyebrow. "You really took that long to ask me something so minor?"
Aaron's face lit up. "So, Mr. Davis, you're in?"
William scoffed. "You bug me with this nonsense, and you think I'll say yes? No way." He had zero interest in training a bunch of nobodies. He turned on his heel and walked off.
When William got back, Fiona was waiting. "William, did Mr. Smith come asking for help?"
She could tell Aaron had been there for a favor.
William nodded. "Yep."
Fiona pressed, "Did you agree?"
William shook his head. "No, he bothers me with trivial stuff."
To Fiona, William had nothing but a few Strengthening Body Pills and no real skills. Could he really help Aaron? Did he even have the ability? He definitely had to refuse Aaron's request, or else he would be exposed.
Fiona thought William should steer clear of folks like Aaron.
They were all trouble.
Aaron associated with William only because William had Strengthening Body Pills.
Once they figured out William didn't have more, they'd drop him like a hot potato.
These people were all about what they could get.
Fiona worried that if William couldn't whip up more Strengthening Body Pills, he might just fake some for Aaron and his crew.
If they found out, William would be in deep trouble.
As soon as Aaron got back to Greenwood Estate, Anna came out. "Grandpa, Doris and Adam from The Ravenous Wolf Legion are here."
Aaron let out a heavy sigh.
Anna asked carefully, "Grandpa, did Mr. Davis say no?"
Aaron's face was stone cold as he walked into Greenwood Estate. "Of course, it's a hassle for him."
In the reception hall, two people were waiting.
Adam Johnson was tall and built like a tank.
Doris Morris was tough and capable, a top-notch female soldier!
They greeted him, "Mr. Smith, you're here."
Doris asked, "Mr. Smith, where's Mr. Lawson? We didn't see him. Our warriors in The Ravenous Wolf Legion are all pumped for Mr. Lawson to be the instructor."
Luke was a big deal and super respected. He was the top bodyguard of Chwadae, a Master of Martial Arts, and a legend worldwide.
Lots of folks wanted to learn Luke's special skills.
When The Ravenous Wolf Legion heard Luke would be their instructor, they were too excited to sleep for days.
To show their respect, The Ravenous Wolf Legion sent two deputy officers to fetch him.
Aaron said, "To be honest, Luke's already back in Atheria. He's not here."
But Aaron didn't mention Luke was hurt.
Doris and Adam's faces fell.
Doris said, "Didn't we agree Mr. Lawson would be our instructor? Training starts tomorrow."
Adam said, "What now? We can't find anyone else this late. This will mess everything up."
Doris nodded. "Yeah, The Ravenous Wolf Legion's training has always been smooth."
The Ravenous Wolf Legion had brought in many skilled instructors, and this was the eighth time.
Aaron's face darkened.
The Ravenous Wolf Legion's matters were serious. Aaron couldn't afford to screw this up.
The two looked at Aaron. "Mr. Smith, can you find a replacement? Is there anyone else skilled in Starlight City?"
Aaron thought for a moment. "The Crimson Brothers from The Serpent Gang just became Masters of Martial Arts. Those two..."
