Chapter 292 This is All William's Fault!
Jessica, who was following behind, complained unhappily. "Why do we need to book such an expensive restaurant just to have dinner with him? This meal is going to cost over ten thousand dollars!"
Kieran turned around and glared at her. "We're treating two managers to dinner to help William sort out his job situation!"
Back when Anna arranged for the Kieran couple to work at Oceanview Corp under the Smith family, one as an administrative assistant in the marketing department and the other in HR, basically cushy positions where they just made coffee, delivered documents, and made copies. Pretty easy work.
Levi Pierce and Eva Murphy were their direct supervisors. The couple wanted to treat them to dinner so they'd help arrange an easy position for William.
"Aren't you going to help me get a job, too?" Jessica grew even unhappier.
After setting the time, they brought William along.
"Mr. Ward, Mrs. Ward, we could just grab something simple! No need to make such a big deal out of it!" William couldn't help saying as they entered the restaurant's private dining room.
Kieran smiled. "William, just let us handle the arrangements."
Jessica shot William a fierce glare, cursing him a hundred times in her mind, acting all modest when you're clearly thrilled inside, such a phony!
"Are we expecting someone else?" William asked, puzzled to see the head seats empty.
Kieran was about to explain when the guests arrived.
A man and a woman, both in their thirties, dressed in sharp suits, typical corporate elite types, but with cold expressions and eyes full of arrogant superiority that made people uncomfortable.
"Manager Pierce! Manager Murphy! Please, come in!"
The Kieran couple rushed to greet them, Jessica's face plastered with smiles.
The two sat down in the head seats without any courtesy.
"Bring the food! Hurry up!" Kieran immediately called the waiter and brought out the premium wine he'd prepared in advance.
During the meal, the Kieran couple kept proposing toasts.
After a few rounds of drinks, Eva sneered. "Kieran, such a fancy restaurant? You must want something, right?"
Levi also sneered. "Yeah, everyone knows you two are cheap as hell at the company. You always bring your own lunch and never eat out. Treating us to such an expensive meal today? Is this some kind of trap?"
The Kieran couple felt awkward but kept smiling.
Eva and Levi exchanged glances and mocked. "Well, it's good to make you cheapskates spend some money. All you do every day is make coffee and run errands, yet you get ten thousand dollars a month. The company's basically supporting two freeloaders."
"Exactly! We could hire a part-time student to do these things. Why waste so much money on you two?"
The Kieran couple looked even more uncomfortable but didn't dare talk back. Jessica felt humiliated and angry, this was all William's fault! The jobs arranged for her parents ended up making them suffer.
William listened, feeling angry inside, it seemed the old couple wasn't having a good time at the company. This was Anna's fault! He'd said not to give them special treatment, but that didn't mean letting others bully them!
"Whatever it is, just say it."
"We do have something. Manager Pierce, Manager Murphy, we'd like to ask for your help."
The two managers' faces immediately turned cold. "Let's hear it first."
Kieran quickly pointed to William. "This is William Davis, my old friend's son. We'd like you to help arrange a job for him, something easy would be fine."
"What?" William was stunned, so Kieran was trying to get him a job? They were so kind!
He was about to speak when Levi angrily said, "Kieran, you've gone too far! You two are already freeloading at the company, and now you want to bring in another person to take money for nothing?"
