Chapter 273 He Is More Suitable to Be an Ordinary Person!
Fiona glanced at Jasmine with a teasing grin. "You two are always smiling like you hit the jackpot. Think I haven't noticed?"
Jasmine stuck out her tongue. It was true—they were counting down the days until William left. It would be weird if her mom didn't catch on.
Jasmine felt a bit anxious, worried her mom might object. "Mom, you're not against him leaving?"
Fiona let out a deep sigh. "What can I do about it now?"
Jasmine felt a rush of relief. If her mom wasn't against it, then William was definitely leaving. Awesome!
Fiona's voice was calm but firm. "William doesn't fit in with our family. He's just not part of our world. Look at all the issues we've had in such a short time. If he stays, it'll only get worse."
Jasmine had a look of "finally, you get it."
Fiona went on, "I tried to help him adjust, but it didn't work. He just can't blend into our lifestyle and social circle."
Jasmine nodded eagerly. "Exactly! I've been saying it all along. We're from different worlds; he just doesn't fit in!"
Fiona's expression was complicated. "So, I've thought it over, and it's better we part ways. It's not that I'm scared he'll drag us down, but I'm worried he'll cause trouble. If something happens, I won't be able to protect him."
Jasmine quickly agreed. "Totally! Look at him, he even had the nerve to provoke the top students at Central State Medical Academy. Our family's been climbing the social ladder, mingling with influential people. Keeping him around will only bring trouble!"
Fiona shook her head, her tone full of regret and disappointment. "I think he's more suited to an ordinary life. William was probably meant to live a simple, unremarkable life."
From the moment William called to refuse Xavier, Fiona was convinced—William was destined to be just an average guy.
"If he wants to leave, then let him go and live as an ordinary person."
Jasmine beamed. "Yes, I've decided to give him enough money to live comfortably."
Fiona rubbed her temples. "Alright, you handle it. I'm busy with the launch of the Phoenix Breath Pill."
Watching her mom leave, Jasmine was so excited she almost shouted—everything was falling into place! William was really leaving! Only two days left!
After spending the whole night examining the ring, William didn't rush to Jones Manor the next day.
He had done everything he could for the cultivation of Frostcrystal Grass. Today, he planned to visit Kieran and his wife—partly to check on their lives, and partly to hear about his mother's recent activities.
When they saw William, they were super enthusiastic, quickly inviting him in.
Seeing how well-off the family was, William felt reassured.
"William, you're here?" Jessica's eyes lit up when she saw him, proudly glancing at her parents.
Turns out Jessica had been wanting to contact William, but her parents had stopped her. Now that William had come on his own, her parents couldn't prevent it.
Jessica smiled and said, "You've been keeping secrets from us! Turns out you're Fiona's godson! Hope Pharmaceutical is even more impressive than the Merchants' Guild of Shadows now!"
William knew exactly what she was thinking—despite their comfortable life, Jessica was far from content.
She wanted to drive sports cars, live in mansions, have assets worth millions, and become a socialite queen...
These dreams were impossible for her to achieve on her own; she could only pin her hopes on William.
Learning that he was Fiona's godson, Jessica's eyes were filled with anticipation—she believed all those dreams were now within reach.
