Chapter 280 Greed
"You're really destined to reach the top of Eldoria!"
Fiona and Eugene hugged their daughter tight, their family caught up in the joy of the moment.
William stood off to the side, feeling like a fish out of water.
Little did they know—the very people they were trying so hard to impress wouldn't even be worthy to kneel before William.
Noah rushed back to Sunview City overnight.
In the early morning, all the top brass of the Central State Medical Academy were urgently called to the conference hall.
Standing in the center, Noah spoke gravely, "Director Caudill, we have to keep this under wraps! We can't let any other factions in Eldoria find out!"
He paused, then dropped a bombshell, "Jones Manor is growing Frostcrystal Grass!"
The room erupted. Some people jumped out of their seats in shock, others' eyes went wide, and one Medical Master even fainted from the overwhelming news.
Edmund's reaction was the most dramatic. He stood frozen, eyes nearly popping out. "Frostcrystal Grass? The legendary grade-eight medicinal herb?"
His voice trembled, and he stuttered, "That's a treasure even the National Medical Institute doesn't have! Are you sure?"
Noah immediately began to analyze, "Think about it. First, Amelia refused to join the Medical Academy, and then the Jones family had five top experts guarding the manor day and night, not letting anyone near. Plus, these experts' powers skyrocketed in just a few months—the Crimson Brothers were just at the threshold of being Martial Arts Masters a few months ago, and now they can fight on par with Lords of Martial Arts!"
His eyes sharpened, "This almost certainly confirms the existence of Frostcrystal Grass! Plus, we've found that the quality of Jones Manor's herb garden now rivals that of the Greenfield Herbal Garden."
Several Medical Masters nodded in agreement, "If it really is Frostcrystal Grass, its medicinal power could enhance the entire garden's quality by a whole level. This news is likely true."
Edmund frowned, "But how could a small family like the Joneses get Frostcrystal Grass? Even the National Medical Institute doesn't have it!"
Noah shook his head, "That's still a mystery."
He looked at Edmund, "Director Caudill, should we act now?"
Greedy expressions spread across the room. Grade-eight medicinal herbs! The highest grade at Central State Medical Academy was only grade five!
Edmund took a deep breath, "No rush. I've reported this to the dean. He's ordered us not to act rashly. He'll handle it personally when he returns from the National Medical Institute in Sintros City and will go to Starlight City to seize the Frostcrystal Grass himself!"
Noah sneered, "Fine, let the Jones family enjoy their last few days."
Meanwhile, William was fully aware of the events at Jones Manor earlier that day, but he paid them no mind.
As the Watson family's celebration banquet wrapped up, all eyes turned to William.
Only one day remained—after tomorrow, William would leave.
Jasmine could barely contain her excitement—recently, everything seemed to be going their way: establishing ties with the Central State Medical Academy, befriending a prodigy like Noah, and most importantly. William was leaving!
It was almost worth setting off fireworks!
"William, are you free tomorrow?" Fiona asked cautiously.
"Yeah, I'm free, Fiona," William replied calmly.
"Great, let's have a nice meal together tomorrow. If there's anything you want or anything you'd like to do, just let us know."
The day after tomorrow, he'd be gone. Fiona wanted to do something for him.
"Okay, Fiona," William responded quietly, a hint of sadness in his eyes.
Fiona's heart softened, but before she could speak, Eugene quickly whispered, "Fiona, stay strong! Don't give in!"
Jasmine shot William a cold glance, "Yeah, I think he's starting to have second thoughts. Mom, don't give in! Remember what you told me before?"
