"You think you can just walk away? This is it, you're cutting ties for good! Once you leave the Watson family, you're nothing! You'll never set foot in the Watson Mansion again!"
Bob yelled, his eyes icy cold.
He yanked William's luggage out of the trunk and tossed it onto the sidewalk, then jumped back into the car and sped off.
"Fine by me."
William chuckled, a sarcastic smirk on his face.
Just then, his phone rang. It was Kieran: "Hey William, you really leaving the Watson Mansion today? Is it true? I'll come get you!"
William felt a warmth spread through his chest.
Jessica thought he was joking, but the Wards took it seriously and even called to check.
"Alright, Mr. Ward, come pick me up! I'm at..."
William gave his location, and Kieran soon arrived in his old pickup truck.
"Leaving's probably for the best. We're not cut out for that high society life. Living simply suits us just fine."
Kieran said, taking William back to their place.
When Jessica saw William standing at the door with a pile of luggage, she was shocked.
Could it be true? Was he really kicked out of the Watson family?
"William, are you serious?"
Jessica's face was full of disbelief.
"Yup," William replied with a smile.
"I don't believe it..."
Jessica shook her head but quickly picked up her phone to check.
She had a wide network in Starlight City, having mingled in various circles since she was young. Though her contacts weren't particularly powerful, they were well-informed. Any non-confidential news in the city, they would know right away.
Soon, she confirmed the news—William really had left the Watson family!
She even heard that Fiona had personally informed all the high society members in Starlight City that William had no ties with Hope Pharmaceutical or the Watson family anymore... he was completely out.
The Ward couple warmly welcomed William: "If the Watson family doesn't want you, we do! Stay with us, we have plenty of spare rooms. Besides, you helped us buy this house in the first place."
William just smiled.
At that moment, Jessica returned, looking grim.
"You really got kicked out of the Watson family?" she demanded, standing in front of William.
"Jessica!" Kieran called out, trying to stop her.
But Jessica ignored him and shouted at William:
"Mom, Dad, I thought he was joking! But he really got kicked out by the Watson family! Fiona has already informed all the big shots that he has no connections with Hope Pharmaceutical or the Watson family!"
Jessica pointed at William: "He's just an ordinary guy now! No background, no status, and no money!"
"Jessica, what are you saying?"
The Ward couple was furious. How could their daughter be so materialistic?
Jessica sneered: "Am I wrong? Without Fiona's backing, he's nothing! Just another guy on the street!"
The Ward couple was livid, looking apologetically at William.
William smiled faintly: "It's true, I no longer have any ties with the Watson family."
"See, he admits it himself! So now that he's down and out, what's he doing here? Saying he's repaying us? All he did was give us a house and get my parents regular jobs! He used to be Fiona's godson, controlling billions. Giving us a few million wouldn't have been too much!"
"And now that he's useless and kicked out, he comes running to us? Let me tell you, we don't take in freeloaders! Please leave!"
Jessica said, pointing directly at William's face.
