Chapter 223 I Wronged William?
Soon, a bunch of security guards stormed out, dragging Fiona and her group away.
"If they resist, just hit them!" Manuel barked coldly.
"Manuel, I'll fight you to the end!" Fiona, completely losing it, tried to charge at him.
"Mom, let's just go!" Jasmine held Fiona back tightly.
Manuel sauntered over, leaning in close with a devilish grin. "Ms. Fisher, can't handle this already? This is just the beginning!"
"The Merchants' Guild of Shadows showed you respect by inviting you to join, and you still tried to negotiate? This is your consequence! I can take Hope Pharmaceutical without breaking a sweat!"
"And your godson hit me? You think I'll let that slide? Dream on!"
"Just wait! I'm starting to settle the score!"
Jasmine couldn't help but shiver. This wasn't the Manuel she knew! He seemed like a demon.
Eugene and the others were furious just moments ago, but after Manuel's warning, they all calmed down. Going against the Merchants' Guild of Shadows was like hitting a stone with an egg—utterly futile. They hurriedly left.
Back home, Cassidy pulled Jasmine aside.
"Jasmine, I need to tell you something," Cassidy said, her face full of guilt.
"Go ahead, Cassidy."
"Actually, that night you all wronged William! He was telling the truth! Manuel and his group were planning to get you drunk and do something terrible! I begged him to save you!"
Cassidy revealed the whole truth about that night.
Jasmine's eyes widened in shock. "What?"
"Wait, if that's true, why did you say he was lying?"
Cassidy bit her lip. "I'm sorry, Jasmine! I lied! Manuel threatened me, saying if I told the truth, he'd go after the Torres family!"
"So you lied and blamed William? Put everything on him?" Jasmine's body trembled.
She didn't like William, but she wasn't unreasonable. If she had wronged him, she would feel guilty.
If they had truly wronged William, she would be mortified. William had saved her but was blamed instead...
"Yes, I already apologized to William!"
Jasmine suddenly remembered seeing Cassidy apologize to William that night. She had thought William was forcing her. She hadn't realized it was genuine.
"Jasmine, I'm really sorry! I was too scared to go against Manuel!" Cassidy was on the verge of tears.
Jasmine felt deeply guilty. "You didn't wrong me, but you did wrong William! I wronged him, too! If it weren't for him, I might have been violated! I can't even imagine the consequences!"
Thinking about it, Jasmine broke out in a cold sweat. That night had almost turned into a nightmare. Without William, what would she have done? If those beasts had violated her, she might have jumped off a building. And she and her parents had wrongly accused him of causing trouble! They had even foolishly taken him to apologize to Manuel! The victim apologizing to the perpetrator? How wronged must William have felt? Alan had almost crippled him.
"By the way, I have a question. How did William just happen to be there that night?" Jasmine asked.
Saving her was one thing, but William's timely appearance seemed too coincidental.
Cassidy was also taken aback, having never considered this before.
"I get it now. William likes you! He was afraid Manuel and his group would take you away, so he followed you around!"
"Didn't he warn you about being deceived? It was probably a man's intuition! He sensed Manuel's bad intentions and was worried about your safety, so he said something!" Cassidy analyzed.
