Chapter 283 Public Statement - Severing Ties!
Eugene and Jasmine watched William anxiously, worried he might change his mind at the last minute and decide to stay.
William gave a faint smile. "Fiona, there's no need. I'm outta here tomorrow. My mind's made up."
Eugene and his daughter immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness, William wasn't staying.
Fiona sighed deeply again.
She guessed that William had realized he didn't fit in with the Watson family and wanted to live a normal life.
Jasmine gave a thumbs up. "William, I really respect you right now! You keep your word, you're a real man!"
Eugene laughed heartily. "William, did you hear that? My daughter praised you! Not many people earn her approval. You should feel honored!"
Jasmine smiled as well.
Indeed, very few men had ever earned her approval.
For William, this was a special kind of recognition.
William didn't respond to them but instead turned to Fiona. "Fiona, I'm gonna rest now."
He walked into his room, a slight smile on his face.
Thanks to the Magical Ice Energy in the Watson Mansion, he had been able to suppress the Fire Venom inside him for so long...
However, the Magical Ice Energy was nearly depleted. After absorbing it once more tonight, it would be completely gone.
In the living room, Jasmine frowned. "Lately, the rooms have been getting hotter and hotter, even with the air conditioning on!"
Eugene nodded. "Yeah, I've been sweating at night. I have no idea what's causing it."
Little did they know, the source of the heat—
As William absorbed the Magical Ice Energy, the mansion's Magical Mountain Energy ceased to release cold air. The Fire Energy Stone, which had been used to balance the cold, began to release heat continuously, making the entire mansion stuffy and hot.
Fiona wasn't concerned about any of this. She wiped her reddened eyes and took a deep breath. "William is leaving, and I didn't take good care of him... Eden, I'm sorry."
Jasmine quickly comforted her. "Mom, you've done enough! You tried to help him, gave him chances and resources. It's his fault for not taking advantage of them. This is on him."
Eugene agreed. "Exactly, it's all because of William's own actions. He probably realized he doesn't fit in with our family and decided to leave."
Fiona shook her head helplessly. "Alright, let's not talk about it anymore."
Suddenly, Eugene slapped his forehead. "Oh, Fiona! When William leaves tomorrow, I suggest you make a public statement."
Fiona was taken aback. "That... doesn't seem right."
A public statement?
That would be almost like cutting ties completely.
As it stood, he was just leaving the Watson family, not severing all connections.
A public statement would break William's heart completely, and she couldn't do that.
His departure already filled her with guilt; doing this would feel like a betrayal of her conscience.
Eugene analyzed the situation seriously. "Even though he's leaving tomorrow, only we know that. The outside world doesn't. What if he continues to use the title of your godson to deceive people? For example, Aaron might still respect him, and even the Merchants' Guild of Shadows and Mayor Graves could be fooled. Small issues are one thing, but what if he causes big trouble?"
Jasmine nodded. "Mom, you know how William likes to pretend he's important! If he uses your name to get people to do things, it could cause serious problems. It would hurt us and himself."
Eugene added, "Exactly, and by then, it would be too late to regret it!"
Fiona was silent for a moment before finally nodding.
They had a point.
After all, William had once used a Strengthening Body Pill to trick Aaron into thinking he was a significant figure.
Besides, she had a feeling that after leaving the Watson Mansion, William wouldn't leave Starlight City. Instead, he might move into Serenade Villa.
