Chapter 101

Aiden frowned, he didn't like guessing what Nina was thinking. It felt like there was something he shouldn't know and it annoyed him. 

"Anything you want to say?" He asked. He hoped Nina wasn't playing secrets that would make him feel suspicious. 

"Nothing. I was just wondering if you believed me, that's all!" 

"Is it true?" 

"Yeah, since you say you believe in me, that means you do, right?" Nina smiled gently, took Aiden's hand and held it tightly. 

Even though Aiden still couldn't understand what Nina really wanted to show him, he just tried to believe that this time he wouldn't be betrayed. 

"Yeah...well, is there anything else you want?" 

"If there's more, you're going to buy it?" 

"No! Hahahaha...but, I just wanted to warn you that you have to be careful in that place!" 

"Careful, why?" 

"Nothing, I'm just warning you to keep an eye on those naughty eyes of yours. So, be careful if you get into trouble!" 

"What's going on there? Why are you scaring me like that? Are there bad people or-" 

"No, but you have to be careful. Do you understand, my dear?" Aiden ran his hand through Nina's hair one more time and made a mess of it. Smiling, Aiden got up from his place and walked towards the counter to pay for the food they ordered. 

Nina who had been made curious, actually became a little scared about the strange warning Aiden had uttered. His mind immediately went to the cold-faced young man with a sinister smile who was glaring at him in front of the elevator. 

Just thinking back on it made Nina shudder. Even though she didn't want to speculate, Nina felt that maybe it was the man Aiden meant. Someone who was fierce and gave him trouble in that place. 

Even when they got back to the car, Nina was still daydreaming, thinking about worries that might not happen. But, as a thinker, this kind of thing is what Nina usually does, namely overthinking. 

"What are you thinking about? Why are you so silent?" Asked Aiden who was driving. Every now and then Aiden glanced at Nina who was sitting beside him, just to make sure that the banana girl was lost in her own thoughts again. 

"I thought about what you said earlier. I'm wondering whether someone like me can join the great people who work at that TV station!" 

"If you know you suck, why are you desperate to accept the recommendation letter? Maybe you should step down and find another company for an internship, that's if you're a coward who doesn't have confidence in himself!" 

Seeing Nina become gloomy like this, made Aiden regret that he had said something stupid to her. Scaring him just to get back at what he did. Leo didn't mean to make Ami feel inferior at all. In fact, Leo was proud of this woman who was chosen for a special recommendation among hundreds of other students who wanted the same thing. 

"You know what? I actually hate to admit it, to be honest you're pretty awesome too!" 

"What does it mean?" 

"You went to a foreign land, far from home on your own. Got scholarships, worked part time and wrote to survive in this place. You should be proud of yourself, not feel useless. Not everyone can do the same like you. So, stop comparing yourself to others, because you're a tough woman!" 

Ami's face reddened, slowly the doubts in her heart vanished. Ami had never heard those beautiful words from anyone else and for the first time, Ami heard them from someone she had never imagined. For Leo, Ami is a great woman, somehow Ami feels very happy. 

"Thank you, this is the first time I've heard from someone..." Ami held back her tears. She didn't want to cry, even in front of the man she loved so much. 

Leo pulled over and stopped his car on the side of the road just to give this woman the hug she so badly needed. A warm hug from someone who truly loves him. 

"Feeling better already?" Leo whispered softly while rubbing Ami's back. 

"Leo, no matter what happens, I will never turn my back on you..." 

"What did you say?" 

"I will only love you all my life." 

"Stupid! Of course you have to love me for the rest of your life. Even when you're dead, you have to still love me!" 

"Okay, I'll love you even when I'm dead..." 

"Hey...why are you suddenly being cute like this? There must be something you want, right?" 

"Yes..." 

"Okay, because my heart is happy. You can ask me for something, a gold ring, a necklace, anything! Say it quickly, what do you want?" 

"Don't leave me…" he said sadly. Ami's bitter smile made Leo feel suffocated, a strange feeling he had never felt before. 

The atmosphere became silent, Leo, who felt very touched and emotional, tried to refocus his mind. Meanwhile, Ami is still lost in her own thoughts and feelings. 

"I should be the one saying that!" 

"You have everything, you don't have to be with me. But I feel like the life I'm living right now is like being in a dream world. It still feels so impossible for this to happen to me. I keep remembering our first meeting and how we could hate each other for a while, but in a way, I feel very lucky to have met you." 

"You are lucky, that's why you have to keep your luck from being taken by other people. You understand, right?" 

"Yes, from now on I will try..." 

"Trying for what?" 

"To convince your mother that I'm the best daughter-in-law ever!" 

"Wh...what? hahaha...yes, it's good that you think so!" Leo laughed happily. He still couldn't believe that this strange and annoying woman had started to soften up, and had even started to become submissive without being rebellious as usual. 

"If I have succeeded in winning your mother's heart, you will pay off my debts, right?" 

"You! Can't you make me happy just once without worrying?" 

"After all, you've been very kind today. So I thought I might as well take advantage of you while you're off guard!" 

"Oh my gosh, I thought that sad face of yours earlier was genuine. Turns out you were just pretending! Reduce your manipulative nature to a minimum!" 

"Hey...don't pretend to teach me, sir! This is how I survive. If you don't like it, that's it. I don't care!" 

"So what you said earlier was all just a pretense?" 

"Which one?" 

"If you don't want to lose me?" 

"Of course, if you weren't around, who else would buy me expensive things like this? ohohoho..." 

Leo's happiness turns to irritation because his emotions are really being toyed with. However, seeing Ami who was back to being cheerful as usual was a different kind of happiness that made her feel at ease. 

"It's up to you, the important thing is you're happy!"
