Chapter 103
Nina looked at the interior of this building with sparkling eyes, the memories and promises she made to her little brother kept popping up in her head. All the hard work and effort he has done so far is just to bring her brother out of that hell one day.
"Pssttt...pssttt...Miss, hello..." Someone shouted behind her.
Nina gasped and immediately turned around, behind her, the cold-faced man she saw in the elevator that time was standing in a formal suit with four other people standing nearby. She looked confused, people like her are sometimes slow in reacting, especially because of their easily nervous nature in the midst of formal situations.
The four people standing between the cold-faced man glanced at her with worried faces, one of them even tried to signal her to get away before this man took action.
"Good morning?" Said Nina clumsily. Even though she had tried to greet politely, the man's reaction didn't change at all, instead it was even more terrifying.
"Are you the new employee?" Asked the man in his scary deep voice.
"N-no, I'm an intern. My name is Karenina Morales, nice to meet you, Sir!" She answered with a bow.
"Is that so? Ask your seniors to tell you important things you can and can't do in this place!"
"Very well, Sir!"
After issuing an ultimatum, the cold-faced man stepped forward again arrogantly, followed by the four people earlier. Tall, dashing, with brunette hair and blue eyes that glowed like a wild wolf, in a neat black suit, Nina suspected that this man might have quite an important position in this company.
What's more, seeing the people who walked followed him by showing fake smiles that were easy to understand.
"He's definitely not a random person, I better watch out for him!" She thought while taking a deep breath. This was the first mistake he made on his first day joining this television station.
"Good morning, Miss Moraless?"
"G-good morning, Sir!" Because she was traumatized by the incident a few minutes ago, she spontaneously bowed to show her respect for everyone in this place, no matter how ordinary employees, managers or main directors are.
"Hahaha...you seem really nervous, huh?" Asked the man with a friendly laugh. Nina who realized his voice, immediately raised her head and looked at the figure in front of her.
Claude Robinson the handsome and charismatic manager who happily accepted his internship at this company. Unlike the previous man, Claude was more friendly, smiling and gentle.
"I'm a bit nervous,"
"Looks like you got your first warning, huh? How did it feel?"
"I-I think-?"
"The man who spoke to you earlier is the CEO of this company, Victor Sanders. He's a bit strict and self-disciplined. So, don't make any mistakes in front of him. Got that?"
"I understand! Thanks for telling me, Sir!"
"All right, Depney!" She called out to the woman who had just come out of the elevator.
"Yes, Sir!" Said the woman while walking quickly toward the manager.
"Please take Miss Morales to Gavin division, tell her to teach her what to do!"
"Okay, Mister Manager!"
"Miss Morales was placed on crew on a talk show, crew leader named Gavin Conell. Feel free to ask her what to do."
"Yes, Sir! Then, I thank you very much!"
"You're welcome, good job!" Claude said as he walked away after leaving his very charming smile.
"Come on!" Depney led the way to the elevator to go up to the fifth floor.
Nina who hoped to be more intimate with the woman next to her, only kept silent, glancing nervously. She tried to find a topic of conversation.
But all she did in the end was to observe this woman's appearance. Tall with a slender body, light brown hair and wears glasses. Casual smiles and tough body language are the main attraction.
"Your name is Karenina Morales, right?"
"Yes! But, I'm usually called Nina!"
"Okay, my name is Depney McKenzie. We're in the same division as Gavin. You know what? We're arguably the most fun team in this place."
"Is it true?"
"Yeah, because we're part of the crew that runs the very famous Mr Kevin talk show program. He's a really nice guy and his team is really fun too. But you have to be careful with Gavin, he's a bit scary, hahahaha..."
"Oh yeah? Hahaha..." Nina laughed too at the word scary. Who knows how many more scary people she will meet in this place. But one thing is clear, this is her opportunity to have a career in this industry.
After arriving on the fifth floor, Depney and Nina walked through the corridor until they reached a door that read "Speak Up With Mr Kevin" or the name of the TV program hosted by Kevin Thompson, the rising comedian.
When Depney opened the door to the room, a stunning view immediately appeared before his eyes. A behind the scenes view of the programs he usually sees on tv. Amazing, was what she thought.
"Wonderful," she thought in awe. This place is not an ordinary place, considering this tv station is one of the biggest tv stations in the country.
"Four eyes, you're five minutes late!" Said a man with a gloomy face walking up to the two women while carrying several sheets of paper in his hand.
His eyes were not friendly at all, even looked tired like someone who rarely sleeps. His black hair was cut undercut with his signature parted bangs, his steel gray eyes were piercing into the object he was looking at. But if you look around, this tired looking man is actually quite handsome too.
"Gavin, come on! I'm only three minutes late. You're being too much. Besides, Claude asked me earlier to bring this intern on to our team. Nina, come here! Let me introduce the most unfriendly, trash-mouthed figure you have to meet for the next three months!”
"O-okay!"
"Gavin, she is Karenina Morales, an intern sent by our kind-hearted manager, Claude Ribinson. Nina, this cynical man in front of you is Gavin Conell, the director of the Mr. Kevin program. So, you could say he is our leader here!"
"Nice to meet you, Sir!" Once again, Nina bowed in front of the person who became her boss spontaneously.
"No need to be so formal! For him the most important thing is to arrive on time and get involved in the big cleanup!" Whispered Depney.
Big cleanup?"
"That means, we have to clean up this place!"
"Oi, brat!" Said Gavin calling someone with his signature call if he was too lazy to call someone's name.
"M-me?"
"You have to clean up too. Got that?"
"I understand, Sir!"
