Chapter 109

"Why? You're so cool, why don't you have a girlfriend?" 

"You idiot! Shut your mouth!" Nina thought screaming. She couldn't even close h3r mouth as she often spoke without thinking first. 

As she was worried about, Gavin glanced at Nina sharply and looked at her with eyes that were difficult to define because his face was always flat and lacking in expression. 

"S-sorry, Captain! Forget it, I was just kidding, haha..." she laughed awkwardly and as time went on she realized her own stupidity. 

Meanwhile, Gavin still showed no signs that he was quite comfortable with Nina's questions or vice versa. His flat reaction was very difficult to predict. This awkwardness made Nina's hands tremble even more, now her mind really wasn't focused on what she was doing. 

Driinngg...driingg... 

The rescue signal finally came, heard from inside her bag. She quickly opened her bag and took out her cell phone. Because Aiden contacted her, she was confused about how to answer this polite call in front of her boss. 

"Excuse me, Captain. I want to pick up the phone first!" She immediately got up and walked out of the room to answer the call. 

"H-hello, Aiden?" 

"I'm already in front of your office, where are you?" Aiden asked. 

"I-I'm still inside, I'll be out in a moment!" 

"Why do you sound so nervous? What's wrong?" Asked Aiden, who was easily suspicious. 

"N-no, it's nothing. Fine, wait a moment, I'll be right out!" Nina immediately ended the call to avoid the suspicious questions Aiden would throw at her. 

Once again, she took a deep breath, this nervous feeling made her feel like a bad woman who was cheating on her lover. Due to Aiden's suspicious attitude it would be very difficult for her to explain the situation. 

Nina returned to Gavin's office who looked busy cleaning up his desk. Gavin had closed his laptop and apparently, he was done with today's work. 

"Captain, are you going home now?" 

"Yes!" 

"I-is that so? Since I've been picked up, can I go home?" 

"Up to you!" His answer that looks unconcerned. 

Nina took her bag and excused herself to go home first, while Gavin was also getting ready to go home. She returned to her turmoil, feeling embarrassed if she left first, even though they could leave together and reluctantly, Nina waited for Gavin to close the door so they could leave the study together. 

Even though she wasn't asked, Nina walked behind Gavin to the elevator. She was confused, why didn't she have the courage to act indifferent when she could? for Nina, looking good at work is her main goal in order to survive. 

Even though in the end she was once again involved in an awkward situation that she couldn't avoid. At this time, she and Gavin were both in the elevator. Gavin, who was just silent with a straight face, made her curious about what she was really thinking. 

Secretly, Nina glanced at Gavin who was standing one meter beside her. His black hair and dark gray eyes gave him a mysterious impression, the image of the male character in the story Nina wanted to write appeared in his mind. 

"I don't think I've ever written a character like this? But for what story? Romantic comedy? Or mystery? I haven't thought about it? But what kind of female character would suit a man like this? Oh Bella! Yes, Bella would be perfect!" She thought who was thinking hard like most other fiction writers who are often excited by ideas that suddenly appear in their own heads. 

Tin... 

The elevator door opened on the third floor. Somehow, she felt the unpleasant atmosphere that she would feel in a moment. 

A man in a black suit who had shocked her this morning was standing in front of the elevator door alone and when the elevator door opened, the man entered and stood half a meter to Nina's left. Her knees felt weak when she realized that she was standing in the middle of two men with cold and unfriendly faces. 

"My goodness, what dream did I have last night?" She thought. She felt tormented. 

"You working late again, Gavin?" Asked Victor, the arrogant president whose memory was not to be trifled with. 

"No, I'll continue at home!" Said captain. 

"Is that so? Well, you don't need to force yourself because it seems, you already have a new assistant that you can order around. Just tell me if she's acting up a lot!" He said while glancing at Nina with those cruel eyes. 

Nina who was sarcastic, could only look down while swallowing until her throat was dry. As it turned out, this man was scarier than she had expected. Was it because he knew that Nina had become a viral figure because of her carelessness a few months ago? What is it that makes it seem like he doesn't like Nina joining his company? 

"If she's acting up a lot, what are you going to do?" 

"Making her unable to join any company after she left the campus!" 

"My goodness, why is he like that to me? Come on, why does it take so long to go to the first floor?" Nina thought screaming. 

Tin... 

The elevator door opened. Fresh air came in and cooled her hot soul. 

"Excuse me, bye, Captain? E-excuse me, Mister Director. I promise not to cause trouble!" She said as she walked away when she still had time to dodge. 

Nina didn't want to look back and kept walking towards the main door looking for Aiden's car which should have been parked around this building. 

"Where are you? I don't see your car?" She asked who immediately contacted Aiden. 

"I'm in front of the mini market across from the TV station, I'll be there!" 

"No need, just let me go there!" 

"Are you sure?" 

"Yeah, wait a minute okay?" 

Nina crossed the street and even though it was quite tiring, she didn't want to take the risk that her colleagues caught her in this place. 

She found Aiden's car and immediately entered in a hurry as if avoiding something. Aiden looked confused, seeing her expression that looked strange. 

"What's wrong? Is there a strange guy bothering you?" He asked who was getting worried. Aiden remembered Cindy's co-worker who had followed her around the apartment. He didn't want that to happen to Nina too. 

"N-nothing!" Nina answered nervously. She tried to catch her breath. 

"Is it true?" 

"Yes!" 

"But, why are you so agitated? What happened? Tell me hurry!" 

"I just had a bit of a problem with the boss at that tv station, it seems he still remembers my embarrassing face!" 

"What does it mean?" 

"He knew that I was the one making a fuss at the fashion show at the time and apparently, he didn't like me!" 

"What? Hahahaha...how come?" Aiden broke out laughing. The worry he previously felt, turned into a comical situation that he had not thought of. 

"Why are you laughing? What's so funny?" 

"Hahahaha...turns out there are still people who remember your embarrassingly stupid face, huh? Hahaha..."
