Chapter 105
Although only climbing three floors, but the sensation feels very long. Nina sank into her inner turmoil, confused between greeting the big boss or remaining silent as if she didn't notice his presence.
"H-how about this? Should I say hello?" She was deep in thought, while the person she was thinking about looked completely indifferent.
Tin...
The elevator door opened right on the fifth floor. The light that came in from outside was like a light that had come to illuminate the gloom of her soul.
Nina rushed out before this man walked first so that her pretense would last until the end.
"Wait!" The man called out to her in a soul-stirring cold voice. She felt the hairs on her neck stand up because of this awkward atmosphere.
She looked back carefully as if she was caught doing something reprehensible. Although reluctant, she was forced to raise her head and look at the main director who was known to be arrogant and arrogant.
"Y-yes, Sir?" She said slowly. Her voice was shaking and her throat felt dry from swallowing hard since morning because she was too nervous.
"You're that intern, right?"
"Y-yes, Sir. That's right. I'm an intern! Sorry, I didn't realize earlier-"
"What department were you placed in?"
"On Mr Kevin's talk show, Sir!" She answered nervously.
"Oh, I see?" After hearing Nina's answer, this man casually walked away without explaining anything, as if he just wanted to know where this intern was placed so as not to disturb the work of the crew.
Nina was silent with her thoughts wandering far away, she even forgot how heavy the pile of papers in her hand was. Now, her thoughts and feelings were even heavier because it seemed, the man didn't really like her.
"Did I make a mistake? I should have just greeted him. Why did I just keep quiet and pretend I didn't see? Hah...how stupid I am?" She thought while taking a deep breath.
Nina thought, finally she could breathe a little easier after being free from the cold director. But when she returned to her place, there was something far more tiring than carrying three packs of paper five floors, namely the captain who was waiting for her at the door.
"Too long, what are you doing?" Asked the captain who was standing at the door with his arms folded forward. His cynical and intimidating gaze was honestly far more terrifying than the director's gaze.
"T-that was the copy paper that ran out, so I took it from the warehouse, because of that-"
"Hurry, photocopy the document and help the four-eyed man finish his work! Kevin is coming soon, so make sure you don't get into trouble!" he said as he walked away.
"Okay, Captain!"
Nina spent her first day with extra work, after finishing the photocopies, she helped Depney and her team conceptualize the event. Around 1.00 pm, Kevin Thompson came to make preparations for shooting at 3.00 pm.
When filming begins, she finds out how their real work is. Everyone has their own duties and Gavin is the person most responsible for the continuity of this event.
He is a very perfectionist figure, he often argues with Kevin if they don't agree. However, Mr. Kevin, who is known for being funny, always responds to Gavin's anger with ease.
"Aaah...our event today finally went well, thank goodness." Said Depney while stretching her aching muscles.
"Is Captain Gavin always like this?" Asked Nina spontaneously when she saw Gavin and Kevin arguing after the event was over backstage.
Their debate became a spectacle for the crew, who could only stay silent for fear of Gavin, who was known to be hot-tempered and did not hesitate to punish his subordinates.
"What?"
"Ah...no, I mean, do they always argue like that?"
"Oh you must be surprised, huh? Hahaha..."
"No, I'm just a little curious-"
"It's okay, I understand. Actually, you're not the only one who thinks like that. But, almost all of the crew who first joined this program must feel uncomfortable with that attitude!"
"R-really?"
"Yes, Gavin has come a long way to get here. He is a former soldier officer who was fired for fighting with his commander. After that, he was also in prison for three years for being involved with a gang member who committed a robbery."
"Haaah? R-really?" Nina felt very shocked, the story about the captain was completely beyond her expectations.
"Hahaha...that's how it is, even though he looks young, he's actually quite old!"
"How? Did it reach 30 years?"
"He's 35 years old! Hahaha..." Depney always answered while laughing, making Nina confused whether he was serious or joking.
"But, his face still looks young?"
"Yes, I have to admit that. As a former captain in the army as well as a former thug, so he is very familiar with the ins and outs of the world that almost everyone here doesn't know. Even so, everyone respects him a lot because this event is big because of his hard work . He never does anything by halves, that's why sometimes all his members feel very tired of the rules he makes."
"Hahaha...if it looks like I can see it."
"That's why, Ami. If you want to survive in the workforce, you must first be able to prove to that grumpy old man that you are more than worthy to join us!"
"Of course, I will prove it to him!"

"Thanks for all of your hard work today and for you brats!" Said Gavin.
"Yes, Sir?"
"Tomorrow you have to come early to clean up, understand?"
"Cleaning again?"
"Wanna protest?"
"N-no, Sir! Tomorrow I will come early!"
"Good! Then, see you tomorrow!"
"See you tomorrow, Captain!" Say all in unison.
After the meeting ended, Nina glanced at the clock on her hand which showed 6.00 pm. It turned out to be much longer than he thought, at this rate, how could he possibly continue her work in Aiden's apartment as usual.
"Ugh...my feet hurt!" She thought while massaging the soles of her feet.
"Nina, who are you going home with?" Asked Depney who still looked excited despite working hard all day.
"Ah...that, I'm home!"
"Wanna come have a drink with us?"
"That's right, let's bring her too!" Jean immediately joins in and forces Nina to come with them.
"B-but-"
"Hi Nina, I'm sorry we haven't gotten to know each other today. Let me introduce you, I'm Kerry Smith!" Said the blonde girl who had helped Nina several times all day.
"Nice to meet you, Kerry!"
"I'm Daniel, cameraman number one. Nice to meet you!" Daniel said while holding out his hand for a shake.
"Ah...yes, nice to meet you too!"
"I'm Colin Morgan, assistant to Depney, nice to meet you!"
"Thank you everyone, please help!"
"It's not too formal like that, if you're with us just relax!" He said. They all smiled kindly at her, making the tiredness she felt disappear.
Nina is very happy because she is well received here, even though this is just the beginning of her long journey in the world of work. But at least, she knows that now she has a goal she wants to achieve, which is to be better.
