Chapter 84

"Thanks, Sam. But I guess you shouldn't bother. I know what's best for myself, thanks for helping!" Aiden said before ending the conversation. 

Aiden really didn't expect that Samantha would be so stubborn like this, especially when it comes to their one-sided relationship. Even so, he couldn't completely blame Samantha, because he was the one who wasn't firm in making decisions from the start. 

Now, whatever Aiden's efforts to fix things and make her stay away from him, it seems like it will be very difficult because Samantha is already crazy about him. 

Knock...knock...knock... 

Someone knocked on his door. This isn't the time to be thinking about romance, because he has a lot of photo shoots scheduled. 

"Who?" He shouted who was standing at the door. It seemed that he had to make sure who was disturbing his precious resting time. 

"It's me, Harry!" Said Harry, Chloe's assistant. 

"Oh Harry, what's wrong?" 

"When you're done taking a shower, Chloe asks you to go to the restaurant on the first floor. Mr Christian is coming to meet you!" 

"Fine, tell her, I'm coming in 10 minutes!" 

"Okay!"

"So, what exactly happened to you? Why have you been sleeping outside lately?" Courtney gave her a serious look, her suspicions grew longer and longer, considering that as long as she knew Nina wasn't the type to sleep over at a friend's house. 

Seeing two pairs of eyes glaring at her made her shudder, their faces were really scary. This is a bad situation for Nina because she doesn't want to reveal the secret she's currently keeping. 

"Erm...could it be that you already have a boyfriend, right?" Jennifer said. 

"What you guys are talking about? 

"Really? Hem...suspicious!" Courtney and Jennifer put on curious faces. 

For them this is really strange, it's been two years they lived together through ups and downs. However, this was the first time this strange, money-eyed woman was acting out of the ordinary. 

Nina who had to endure intimidating stares and questions from her two friends, tried to hold back the tremors in her legs for fear that her secret would be revealed. Perhaps, for most people, being in a relationship with a famous person is a matter of pride. If it was Courtney or Jennifer, they would definitely go crazy flaunting their love life on social media. 

But for Nina, an overseas student who has an ordinary life, it's nothing more than bad luck. Even to this day, she still thinks that Aiden's feelings for her are just an illusion from her constant madness to dream of getting a rich man whose wealth she can control. But after she had the chance to do so, Nina instead acted like a fool who balked at the reality before her eyes. 

"Look at her! Her eyes glaze over!" Courtney said, looking at her dumbfounded friend with her mouth open. 

"Nina, why are you staring? Hey, wake up!" 

"Ah yes, what's wrong?" 

"What's wrong with you? You've been acting weird lately. Tell us what happened?" Courtney demanded. 

Nina was a little confused by Courtney, even though so far she didn't seem too concerned about Nina's problems. But it seems that she was the one who judged wrongly, not looking like she cares doesn't mean she doesn't care. People like this just don't want to show it. 

"I'm fine, you don't need to worry!" 

"Is that true?" 

"Yes, of course. What else?" 

"So, these few days why haven't you come home? I heard that you have stopped working part time at that cafe. So, where are you staying?" 

"Nina, it's not that we want to meddle in your business. But, we're just worried about you, me and Courtney think you're in trouble with a philanderer, because of that-" 

"What? Philanderer? Aahahaha..." Hearing the deep concern from her two friends made her laugh out loud. I don't know which part is funny about Jennifer's statement about the possibility of her getting into trouble with a scary man like that. 

"Why are you laughing? What's so funny?" Courtney is upset because it seems like Nina doesn't respect their feelings at all. 

"Hahaha...well, I'm sorry. I'm just surprised that you don't normally worry about me like this!" 

"What do you mean?" 

"Usually, all this time, we've only been busy with our own business. So, I'm touched because it turns out that you guys care too, don't you?" 

"When you talk, your mouth always hurts people, doesn't it? We've been living together for two years. Shouldn't we be like family? Besides, if anything happens to you, we'll be in trouble too!" Courtney said who was getting emotional. She couldn't stop thinking about Nina's way of thinking, which was so individual and closed off. 

It's not that they don't want to open up to her, but Nina who continues to keep her distance even though the attitude she shows often makes others misunderstand her true intentions. 

On campus, she is known to be friendly and has many friends. People thought maybe she was part of some big group. But in reality, the behavior she shows to people is just a mask to cover up who she really is. 

Nina just doesn't want to admit, forming close bonds with people who only stop by for a moment is very troublesome. She came to this place to continue her education so that her fate would change, not to find friends or a partner. There are things that are far more important to her. After graduating from college, she just wants to go home and take her younger brother away from that place of torture and live a decent life. 

"Thanks Courtney, Jenny. But I'm fine, I got a job babysitting for someone right now because the owner is out of town. So, she's paying me to babysit and look after her cat until she comes home." 

"Is that so? Why can't you just say something like that? You're the one who's making other people worry! Never mind, we just want to know what happened to you. Next time, if you have a problem just tell me or Jenny, we'll right friend!" 

Nina chuckled, somehow she felt very happy to hear that. I think this is the first time Courtney has admitted that they are friends. It turns out that what happened to her was not always bad either. 

"Isn't that, right? We're friends. I'm sorry! Thank you, you guys are the best friends I've ever had!" 

"Really? I thought you really hated us both!" 

"How could I hate you! In fact, I thought all this time you hated me, Courtney!" 

"That's because of your miserly and greedy attitude! Anyone would definitely be annoyed at you!" 

"Who said? It looks like you're the only one who's annoyed at me!" 

"You're always looking for trouble, aren't you?" 

"Hey you two, come on! Oh yeah, Nina said she gets paid to look after the house, right? Then, you have to treat us to a meal out!" 

"Hahaha...that's right! You can't run away, if your wages have been paid. Treat us to a meal! Do you understand?" 

"Tsk, I'm sorry to tell you, I'd better not have said it before!" 

"Oh...it turns out that's what you meant for not telling us, right? You miserly human, this time we won't let you have fun alone!" 

"Oh yeah? Who are you? I don't know you!" Nina is increasingly acting annoying. But even so, she felt very relieved that at least she didn't have to tell the two of her secrets for now. 

"Thankfully, for now I'm safe from them!"
