Chapter 155: Movie Night
*Nessie, you got a pot big enough to cook my dad in? I’m still liking the idea of it being hog boiling time. – Angel*
After a night out for Taz, when she and Riffraff broke up, the ladies started a girl’s night. The first night they watched *Fried Green Tomatoes.*
By the second week, there were so many of the women showing up that they moved out of media room and took over the common room at the clubhouse. Several of the club girls volunteered to watch the kids in the dining hall.
Nessie helped Riffraff’s daughter and her girlfriend put together a wedding for Taz and him. The same weekend of their big fight, they made up, crossed state lines and got married on Saturday.
They had a simple wedding in the garden and reception in the common area. The newlyweds were spending a week at the cabin. It was their getaway from it all.
Nessie looked up from where she sat with Siobhan and Becks at one of the tall tables in the common area. It was church night for the men and movie night for the girls.
“Law!” She called to the haggard looking prospect. He changed directions and approached the three women. “How is yer sister?”
Looking around, Becks observed, “I haven’t seen her men tonight.”
“They won’t leave her.” He said running a hand through his shaggy hair. “She’s a horrible patient.”
“What’s wrong with Evie?” Siobhan asked, concern on her and Becks faces.
“Summer cold. Sinus infection.” He shrugged. “A spoiled rotten brat. I can say that, she’s my sister.”
“Don’t think you can, prospect.” Athos said with a grin.
“Leave him be, lad.” Nessie said standing up. “I’ve got some chicken soup for yeh to take her. Come on wit yeh.”
He followed her to the kitchen where she gave him a box of food. “There’s soup for her and dinner for the rest of yeh. I can send someone out with breakfast if yeh like.”
“Thanks. It would be appreciated.” He said as he started to leave the kitchen.
“She likes yeh. Not yeh sister. The one yeh thinking of. If yeh give in, yeh'll find what yeh never thought yeh'd have again.”
“I’m nearly fifty. She’s barely past thirty.”
“Aye. And years are just how we mortals track our time. It’s nothing more than just a figment of someone’s imagination.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” He said as he stepped out in the hallway.
Nessie returned to her table and saw that her uncle had joined them. He stopped Law and asked why Ink and Tank were not at church.
“They are where they need to be.” Nessie said getting back in her chair. “And yes, they both need to be there.”
“What do you see, girl?” Toad asked.
“Just shadows.” Nessie replied. “Joy and sorrow. Love and hate. Hope and fear. There will be a moment that they will need all of their family,” she looked at Law, “and yers, to make it through. But what is on the other side is wonderful.”
She turned to Athos. “The darkness in yer brother will never go away. But it will diminish and the light surrounding him will be much brighter. And yer girl, she needs yeh. Tomorrow, go see her family. Show them yeh plan to stick around. Yer brother’s hard time will effect yeh too.”
Nessie closed her eyes. “My silent friend, would yeh please go tell that blathering fool in the bar to shut up? Should have taken his tongue when he had his neck broke.”
Athos and Becks all looked at her in shock. Siobhan turned and looked at the bar. Nothing was out of the ordinary. When she looked back at her niece, she was more relaxed than before.
“Grams may be able to tell you how to bind him.” Siobhan suggested.
“He is getting bolder. Louder. And yells at me often.” She mumbled. “Tonight, he’s angry because Tank is not here for him to yell at.”
