Chapter 197: Penny Wedding
*Take the dress with yeh when yeh go home. His family will want to see yeh married also. – Nana Bee*
Fiona opened the door to the small cottage that her daughter and Knuckles were staying in. The other Saints, Siobhan, Nana Bee, Emily and Charlotte followed her in.
To the right of the front door was a small breakfast nook that led into a full open kitchen. To the left was a sitting area with an L-shaped gray couch and wooden rocking chair. Against the wall separating the single bedroom from the rest of the cottage, was a smart TV. A bookcase sat under it, filled with books about Scotland, the loch, local villages and landmarks and of course, Nessie, the monster not the woman.
The far wall had floor to ceiling windows. In the center was a tall set of glass French doors with a transom above the doors. The transom held a stained-glass window of the Loch Ness Monster. The doors opened out to a private patio with lounge chairs and a low fireplace.
The patio and cottage matched the manor house as did all the cottages. Inside the walls were a light lavender with dark green accents. The floors were a clean white tile and the countertops in the kitchen and bathroom were soapstone.
The wooden furniture was all Victorian era replicas. All made by local craftsmen. All for sale. Grams may have been well past the century mark, but she was still a shrewd business woman.
Fiona opened the grand door to the bedroom. She had expected to find Nessie already up since she was an early riser. Not really knowing Knuckles, she thought the rough biker would still be asleep.
What she found was her daughters back pressed against the wall as her fiancée drove in and out of her.
Fiona backed out of the bedroom closing the door behind her. Turning to face the roomful of people, she touched her red cheeks. “They’re… ummm… going to be a minute.”
Siobhan laughed and Toad muttered in annoyance. There was a giggle from behind the door and then they heard the water turn on. A moment later, the door opened and Knuckles walked out in his jeans.
His monster tattoo was positioned so that she peeked out of his jeans. “She’s in the shower.” Knuckles said as he grabbed his shirt off the couch.
“Well come on.” Lollipop smiled at him. “I’ve got to get a Quaich.”
“What the hell is a Quaich?” Werewolf demanded.
“A silver cup used by the bride and groom to seal their vows with whiskey.” Knuckles explained stepping into his boots.
“How the hell…”
“When you live with a woman who can get lost in a book, you pick up reading.” Knuckles admitted as the water turned off.
“Out with yeh.” Fiona commanded. “Thanks to me dah we don’t have much time to get this together.”
“Good thing that it’s a penny wedding.” Siobhan laughed. “Do you know what that is?”
“Kind of like a pot luck?” Knuckles asked as Nessie walked into the room wearing a gray ombre maxi dress taking her hair out of the bun on top of her head.
She stepped into his arms and kissed him. “Are yeh really gonna wear one?”
“Promised you that I would. I’ll even wear them it properly.” Knuckles smiled down at her. “Besides, I want the Sgian Dubh.”
“Fuck.” Toad glared at Knuckles as Siobhan laughed. “Don’t tell me you’re wearing a fucking kilt.”
“Okay. Lollipop, you want to take me to Invermoriston to pick up my kilt?” Knuckles asked after kissing Nessie.
“Aunt Siobhan, I ordered them for all the men when I knew who all was coming.” Nessie grinned. “Me girls do laundry; I knew the sizes for everyone except Whip. Emily gave me his.”
Siobhan sat on the floor holding her stomach from laughter. Toad did not look happy while their son looked amused.
“Hang on!” Werewolf demanded as it dawned on him that she had bought him a kilt also.
Nessie went and wrapped her arms around Toad’s waist. “My dah is dead. Will yeh give me away.”
“I always wanted to walk a daughter down the aisle.” He murmured against her hair. “I would be honored.”
“And yeh’ll wear a kilt for me?”
Wrapping his arms even tighter around her he sighed. “Only for you, girl.”
